Yes, there are expensive, but: it’s a great investment! And they’re magic. I’m playing for almost 50 years now, owning various brands and I’m just swapping my Taylor for a Martin. Martin simply has an unparalleled unique sound. Period. Thx for the explanation.
This is both informative and enlightening. And you are two extraordinarily gifted guitarists. Maybe after a few thousand years of practice we'll be able to play half as well as you gentlemen. Keep up the great work, and thanks for this exceptional exploration of Martin body sizes!
Bitte so weitermachen....
Wow, vielen Dank! 🙏 Ich gebe mein bestes um Videos zu machen, die ich selbst auch gerne anschauen würde. Also itneressante und nützliche Themen und so wenig von mir im Vordergrund, wie's geht, haha! Ciao //Kris
One of the best videos I've seen on Martin Guitars 🎸, very interesting, love all the models, everyone has their favorite and mine would be the D-18, just personal preference, but all of the guitars sound great, starting with 0-18, awesome players, can tell they love to play, they brought the best out of the guitar on every solo, enjoyed this video, MARTIN GUITAR ONE OF THE BEST!
Sir, great video and fun to watch. I have a OO-18 and love it. Great guitar, I wanted to mention when you showed the OM-21 you forgot to explain the difference in the pick guard over the others as well. No big deal but it’s one of the first things you see right! It’s tear drop, and that shape of guard usually de-notes an OM model.
That smallest Martin Guitar is what I have of my Daddy's, it's a 1926 Martin!!! Very old, needs playing bad. I really don't know that much in a Guitar!! Wow, thanks for that review. Martin's are the best in .y Book!! Keep on playing those Martin's, they sound Awesome!!!
What model is your Dad's guitar, the serial number is on the inside of guitar stamped on neck, my advice would be to get the guitar appraised, your best bet would be Gruhn Guitars in Nashville Tennessee, he is one of the best, you have a prewar Martin, It could be worth alot more than than you think, prewar Martin's are very collectable, you need it appraised for insurance value, some are very valuable, talk to George Gruhn he will give you the best advice on what your guitar is worth, for insurance or resale value, hope this helps, GOOD LUCK!
@@williambutler8624 I have a XOV-0 German made guitar Supposably the smallest bodied guitars made' from what little information I have found' they're was only 5 made from 1917-1921' made out of 3000 year old African blackwood. Some of the comments about the current cost of Martin's Standard series is telling. No surprise that Eastman are carving big chunks out of the market, by building handmade yet affordable instruments inspired by all the classics.
... very nice video ... great to hear the different body shapes in this side by side comparison ... although I also like some of the smaller body shapes I think I still prefer the dreadnoughts ... as always :)
Man every time I need something abaught guitar you pop up every time I woukd if never guessed you would do a Martin comparison thanks nice vedio...RocknRollflat5
A very nice demonstration. Thank you. I would like to have seen the 12-fret models included, especially in comparison to the 14-fret models. Thanks again!
OMs are great. If you want then with the smoothness of an OOO, you can tune them down half/one step an put a capo on the first/second fret - you can even put heavy gauge strings on. Works great with every long scale to achieve that slinky feel and softer tone.
The advertising hyperbole around the SC model is misleading and lacks integrity. It only takes listening to it to appreciate the obvious; you cannot hack huge parts out of the body of a guitar and make it shallower without fundamentally depreciating the sound. No; you do not get the best of both worlds, that’s impossible. Just tell it straight; it’s a compromise, and significant one.
I think that's taking it tad far. Of course they're gonna hype it as any company does with a new product, and of course there are compromises in everything in life, but for the electric player, I think he's making a fair point that you're getting some pretty nice amplified acoustic guitar tones that will definitely out-class any Acoustisonic or piezo. I don't own one, and I doubt I'll get one, but I've heard a lot of positive feedback from people who say "I went to buy a 'this ' but tried the SC and went home with it.", and all kinds of comments like that. People seem to really take to them.
I thought your application was great. Tell me one thing, the old FOLK model guitars in what range would they fit in comparison, would they be like a 00??
When primarily acoustic players hear that Martin created the SC to be comfortable and easy to play for electric players who are used to these qualities... what do you do with that? I imagine some might think, "oh those spoiled electric players" but also others have to think, "wait, i can play something... Comfortable? That's an option?"
That is one small guitar wowza. When I played it at the guitar shop (5 "11 woman with bigger hands then a smaller woman here ) I felt like a giant haha
I thought it was weird when the guy started comparing everything to his J 45. This video was supposed to be about comparing the different Martin body sizes... So confused
You forgot the part about selling your first-born to afford them. I bought a D-28 and OM-21 from you when they were both around 2100€. Now? I so wanted an 000-18. Sigh.
Firstly great and informative video. However, for the interviewer - perhaps less of interjecting and completing the sentence of the Martin rep. Let him finish speaking and avoid revealing the specs, etc before the rep introduces it. That's why the rep is there. If you all want to do the talking, start another video where you guys teach about Martin guitars instead. Other than that great production.
Really hard to compare the sound of the different models when he's playing different music or chord professions. He should have played the same thing on each guitar. That way you could truly hear the difference in the different models.
I think he was playing something that would be more appropriate for each guitar. You simply don’t play an O and a D the same way, nor the same type of music.
Legendary brand but overpriced instruments. If you have to spend 4000 euros for a "made in usa" guitar then you'd better look Takamine, Yamaha or Furch brands.
Overpriced is what you cant afford. I own expensive and cheap guitars. I buy guitars because of their sound. If the sound suits me, I dont care about the costs.

Why does everyone say it WRONG. It's 0, like the number zero, NOT the letter o. Even the Martin employee says it wrong. Unbelievable!
@….He’s saying the customary pronunciation is “triple oh” or “double oh”. I’m sure there are similar phrases in Spanish that are informally spoken differently than how they are written.

Anyone who's ever played a O-18 or OO-18 knows that they're extremely underrated guitars.
Very well done and recorded. Very helpful comparison. Local dealers seldom have a full line on hand for comparison.
My fave is the OM-21 model. Best of both the smaller guitar for fingerstyle and dreadnaught for strumming stuff

Cheers Matt, glad to hear that you like the video. We had a great time at the Martin headquarters. //Kris
Fantastic player
Verrry enjoyable presentation. Thank you s much. :-)
Thank you
Martin and Taylor, I have been looking at.
My favorite Martin is an O 18. My second favorite is the CEO 7.
OMs are great. If you want then with the smoothness of an OOO, you can tune them down half/one step an put a capo on the first/second fret - you can even put heavy gauge strings on. Works great with every long scale to achieve that slinky feel and softer tone.
Wears down the first fret really quickly though.
@@boshi9 100%. It’s not an appropriate Dauerlösung.
The guys from Martin must be happy to be able to sell on such an important store as Thomann
Equally, Thomann must be happy to have such an important brand as Martin to sell 😂
Lol
I'd love to see sloped shoulder dreads in Martin's standard lineup. It's their OG shape, after all.
A posible comparisson between Martín and Taylor side to side?

That would be a great tee shirt, Martin logo on the front and “ because banjos…” on the back.
Don’t forget the M/0000 size
Yes, the M 36 !
Awesome
Great video. How does the Dreadnought Junior fit into this? What is it similar too?
Hi Man. Why can't I find someone talking about the D16 M? Made in USA. Could you say something about it? Please!
To play classical style music, which model would be suitable 000-18 or OM-21?
I thought your application was great. Tell me one thing, the old FOLK model guitars in what range would they fit in comparison, would they be like a 00??
the GPC would fall into what size?
I have a GPC12PA4 - 12 String...I love it, and it's pretty large. It's gonna be 10 years old next year...I think I will have a birthday party for it!
Will the SC 13 E go the same way as my Martin HJ28 and my 000C nylon out of production??????????????????????????
Where is the Super D?❤😊
12 fret?
Is 15 series still made in US?
What about the J/M model?
Which one would be an alternative option to a Taylor GT?
Hmm, the two brands make quite different models but I can see this GPC being a good alternative: tho.mn/nbq6j

D-18 Standard can be had for around $2800.
Furch doesn‘t do short scale anymore.
Overpriced is what you cant afford. If your dream car is a Mercedes Benz, you dont look for a Toyota.
So much for precise engineering. Half an inch is 12.7 millimeters, not 12.5 (ua-cam.com/video/nOD_AaZ0sds/v-deo.htmlsi=Xw4jcGO_O9_W4KO0&t=367)
Very Claptonu the start…

And sound amazing
