    I took apart a Regal LT3000 today and was able to clean and regrease it thanks to you. Appreciate the video. I love these reels and have put mine thru hell, it was nice to get in there and clean it up. I've caught plenty of steelhead and salmon with it and am now ready for more. Many thanks!

    Wow ! Way Too Many Pieces For That Reel . And A Funny Removal Sequence As Well!Well Done Dennis ! That Must Have Taken A While On That One!

      It seems odd to have two bearings back-to-back on the main shaft, and another one at the back. Especially on what I believe is a $60 reel. Still, I wouldn't complain, it must be smooth. It also looks like better quality than the Lexa 2500 I worked on.

      It is a design that Daiwa uses on a few models and it takes a bit of getting used to when servicing the reel - Thanks - Dennis

    Dennis, I have a couple Daiwa Regal Ultralite reels that I got in a couple reel lots. They were not why I bought those lots but the reels would be fun for bluegill, bream, or other pond fishing. I was happy to see this reel however. I was wondering if you have ever seen, or even better, worked on or serviced a Daiwa MillionMax 9000 spinning reel before. I saw one yesterday for the first time and it reminded me of a 9000C or GS-9 Daiwa heavy saltwater spinning reel. It’s the only Daiwa saltwater spinner I’ve ever seen that has a separate switch for turning off the anti-reverse clicker just like some of the Penn SS reels. I found a few on eBay and immediately knew why I’d never gotten one of these before - they are extremely expensive! Anyway I’m going to be on the lookout as I definitely want one of them for my collection and for surf fishing. I don’t know if I told you or not but I got a nice Penn 650ss saltwater spinning reel last week. I’m supposed to get it in the mail tomorrow. Unfortunately I’ll be having my second surgery for kidney stones in the past two weeks on Tuesday. I’ve been pretty sick and this is ruining my family’s Thanksgiving celebration. I don’t know when I’ll be able to work on that 650ss as I’ll have a long recovery after those operations. I wish for a most blessed Thanksgiving for you and yours this week! Take care my friend!!! - Chris

    It just occurred to me that the main shaft only moves forward and backward, so what is that bearing doing that you said "just be aware this one is sitting in the case" at 9:40? BTW, I kind of like those pins at the top and bottom of the crosswind block. They would seem to do a better job of keeping the crosswind block stabilized than the way Penn does on their smaller reels. This might make a small difference in free movement of the main shaft.

      That is a bearing that sits in the hole where the bottom of the pinion gear rests. When you remove the pinion gear, that bearing often stays behind, so that was my caution that it is still there and be aware if it falls out. Thanks - Dennis

      I found the parts schematic for this reel and see that the back end of the pinion gear is reduced in outer diameter and that first, a shim, and then that bearing fits over that reduced part. It sits in a hole in the back of the housing, which I guess is the full diameter of the bearing so the bearing can fall out the back, as it did with this one. Then, you've got a bearing further forward on the main diameter of the pinion gear, and then those two back-to-back bearings further forward on the main shaft. I'm guessing those bearings fit into the back of the rotor and are what allow it to spin freely. @@2ndChanceTackle

    Hi Dennis -- just my opinion, but there were quite a few video cuts. They're a bit distracting. Also -- did you address the possible extra spool shim washer?

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  9 місяців тому

      Thanks - Sometimes I get interrupted and sometimes the video runs too long so cuts are an unfortunate necessity. Sorry if it made for rough viewing. I did address the shim issue after the reel was tested and line loaded, I reconfigured the shims - Thanks for the note - Dennis

    Trying to add a shim to make more even on the bottom. My bearings seem to be held in by the dowel above it keeping them from sliding off. What do I do? Thanks

      I think the only thing on top of the bearing is a small spool washer, according to the schematic for the Regal LT2500. Is that the reel you are working on or are you working on a different one? If it is different, please let me know the manufacturer and model - Dennis

    I’ve been doing some maintenance on mine, I hear a sort of grinding noise when I open the bail. It sounds like maybe sand or something is rubbing any tips?!

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  3 місяці тому +1

      Sand can be a likely cause to the grind. There just isn't a lot that can cause a grind there. Best to open it up and check it out - Dennis
