Hi Linda! I get the dog hair, I had 5 at one time!! I only had company when we could stay outside, lol. Thank you for the kind words and I hope you give it a try, makes a great gift! 🙂👍🌻
I think I would finish it off with a cork board on the back to help keep the fabric undamaged. Amazing idea. All I have to do now is find napkins and material to practice with 😁😁 Thank you x
Good idea! I just give the top a quick wash and dry, no problems! I don’t use them as trivets btw because they are sold as cutting boards. Have fun! - Joan 🙂
I love it. Thank you so much for doing this demo. I believe in giving my friends things that I make and I think that this will make an astonishing gift that will be appreciated into the future
Hi Debbie! I’m with you, I love to give things I make as well. I think your friend will love this because it is usable decor! Thank you for watching! 🙂 Joan
I love this idea. I have actually bought several of these, plain and ones that already have a picture on them. They do make good cutting boards for small things like apples, tomatoes, etc. Some of the ones I have purchased so far, I have put on my stove top, on top of my burners and set small potted plants on top of them. I don't cook and live alone so my stove is more of a plant stand! hahahahaha. These are so pretty that I think I'll give it a try. And for gifts, oh yeah, very pretty for gifts!!
Hi Sunny Daze! I love the way you think! I’m not much of a cook either but I try! Plants on the stoves really cracks me up., 😅😂🤣 I have used the board for cutting up some cheeses and adding some crackers. Plus I have given them as gifts. I personally like to give gifts that are useful too! Thank you for your adorable comment! - Joan ☺️
Such pretty fabric! I made a round one for my great granddaughter for her birthday made using fabric w/yellow sunflowers. Really cute. Going to make a few more for Christmas gifts using your tips. Thank you!!
I have made dozens of fabric plates. After my 1st coat of Dishwasher Mod Podge and bake it, then trim edges, then if there are small gaps where the DWMP didn’t adhere, I put a bit more in the gaps and clamp down for about 15 minutes, then put another coat all over the plate and bake again. Once cooled, I sand with a coarse emery board in one direction, repeating after each coat. This technique works so well for me. Thanks for this wonderful video, love the idea of removing the bumpers and replacing later, so much easier than leaving them on👍😍
Oh Joan-Marie! I’m so excited to find this video! My sister-in-law gave me the sweetest snowman plate years ago that I’ve wanted to display but it’s clear so it’s hard to see the graphics. With this method I’ll be able to put material on the back and make the graphics pop!!!!!! ☃️☃️☃️. Thank you sooooo much!
Hi Joan-Marie. I've heard of doing this and since I stumbled onto your video, I stayed, watched, learned and have become your newest subscriber. Thanks so much. 😊🇨🇦
pearl trotter I prefer cutting fabric to sanding, when I tried the fabric frayed. I think your friends would love these as gifts! Thanks for watching! - Joan 🙂
Hi,this is soooo simple and looks awesome.I have china plates with a bright border that I want to retain for the final look. Can I do decopauge with fabric in the central area (on the right side) ? How shall I edge the centre?
Hi! This technique is ONLY for the Dollar Tree cutting boards which is a FLAT SURFACE. I do NOT recommend you use an iron on a china plate! If you put the fabric on the top of the plate it will not be food safe. Use something that is clear and flat and decoupage under the glass. Save your china for something else.Thank you for asking me these questions and thank you for watching! - Joan 🙂
Kind of off the subject of this video. When I’m painting glass candle sticks from DT I have brushstrokes. Is that normal? What kind of brush should I be using? Please help. Also I love watching all of your videos, you give a very detailed step-by-step instructions. And once again you’re voice is very soothing.
Hi Michelle! I use a round sponge pouncer. Looks like what us used for stencils. Very gentle pouncing and over lapping so the paint goes on very even and no brush strokes. Hope that helps and thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate that! - Joan ❤️
I love this! This is great DIY and can't wait to give this a try. I would like to know more about the brush you use for decoupage projects. Could you please tell me your recommendation and where to find these brushes? Also how to clean them. Thank you for this lovely tutorial.
Hi Shoryo! I don’t have any particular brand of paint brush that I use. I do like to use an angled brush when I’m working with a napkin and brushes that are very soft, not stiff. I hope that helps! Thank you for watching! - Joan 🙂
You were experiencing fraying at the edges. I might suggest laying the glass on the diagonal of the fabric, since the fabric diagonal is less likely to fray. It may require a bit more fabric, but the result may be more desirable.
You can use the iron on method on wood for sure and paper will work. With glass I would stick to the glass cutting boards as I’m not sure if regular glass would be safe. You can use the paper on the cutting boards. So yes on the wood, no on glass. - Joan 🙂
I don’t use dishwasher safe Mod Podge because I hand wash all my decoupage decor. Dishwasher safe takes 28 days to cure and some crafters really like it. I use the clear sealants as shown in video which makes them usable. Just need to be hand washed. Hope that helps! 🙂 Joan
Hi Wanda! I do NOT recommend dishwasher on any of the glass items in my DIY’s. I suggest you wipe off the top with some soapy water where the food was, then dry immediately. I hope you give it a try and thank you for watching! - Joan 🙂
Hi Carol! I don’t know, I never tried a magazine. I’m not sure if it would adhere well but you can try. If it doesn’t work out you can wash it off. - Joan 🙂
No I don’t paint the back of fabric because it is more opaque than napkins. I really enjoy decoupaging the glass cutting boards and I hope you will give it a try! - Joan 🙂
Hi Deedy! They need to be sealed and hand wash top only. I explained in the video the proper care if you want to use them. Thank you for watching 🙂 - Joan
Yes you should use a varnish like DuraClear. At least 4 coats letting each coat dry before applying the next. Hand wash only, quick wash and dry immediately
Hi Marie! In this video the Mod Podge glue and napkin are underneath the glass and never touch any food. The Mod Podge glue, although considered nontoxic, is not approved as food safe. Hope that helps. -Joan
Hi Karen! You can decoupage fabric to fabric as well however I suggest going to the Plaid Co website who are the makers of Mod Podge. Check out their suggestions and ideas for using the fabric Mod Podge. Thank you for watching! - Joan
You can order the clear glass cutting boards from their website, the minimum is 4 and they can ship to your local DT with free shipping. My DT was sold out of them for a long time and have them back in stock now. Good luck! Joan

Very pretty and I just hit a ton of fabric scraps from an interior designer so I’m gonna try this tomorrow!
Love this. Straight to the point video without going on and on. Nice.

It's nice to know that the iron on method of decoupage works with fabric. It is an easier method of decoupage.
I agree! 🙂

Now I have to go purchase some beautiful fabric 👍🏻👨🏻🦳👩🏻🦳🇺🇸❤️🇨🇱🤠🙏🏻
It’s so pretty
Thank you so much! Joan 🙂
Wow sooo beautiful
Hi Anita! Thank you! - Joan 😊
I love it.
Hi! Thank you! I love making these, so easy! Makes a great gift! - Joan 🙂
Lovely. Best instructions ever. Any reason I can’t use fat quarters or napkin? Thanks Mary
Hi Mary! Fabric fat quarters and cloth napkins will both work. Some use curtains, shirts, etc. nothing thick like terry. - Joan
I just got myself a mini iron so I can try this method out!
Good for you! Have fun! - 🙂❤️
I just found you, you didnt even know you were lost huh, lol... i have enjoyed your videos, and learned so much... thank you

A hint instead of cutting sand it off for a better edge hope that helps. I plan on making these for all my friends for Xmas.

I would add candle on it
Hi Connie! You make it your own!🙂Joan
Decoupage D.I.Y. with Joan-Marie Domino I would love to see you do fabric decoupage on glass plates 😊
I’ll see what I can do, maybe before the holidays! - Joan 🙂
Decoupage D.I.Y. with Joan-Marie Domino thank you!
Soooooooooooooo pretty
Thank you💚
Thank you! 🙂
What product did you use on the back to seal the cutting board with the napkin? Looks great.
I used DuraClear brush-on sealant. I used triple thick glaze on the back. They are a quick Handwash and dry. No soaking, dishwasher or micro - Joan
Thanks
Love this cute I wonder if you could use chunky yarn?
No, that would not work it is far too thick. Please follow the instructions on my video! Thank you! - Joan
Would like to know how it washes? How does the fabric stand up washing the cutting board?
When the fabric is properly sealed UNDER the glass, it can be washed off. No dish soaking, no dishwasher and with normal use it will be fine.

Would you recommend doing a fabric transfer decoupage with a t-shirt
Hi Gloria! You can put fabric onto a tee shirt. Get the Fabric variety of Mod Podge, works well! 🙂 Joan
@@JoanMarieDomino thank you for the suggestion
I found this video so helpful. Thank you. I have a question: Can you use this method using printer paper on wood or glass?
You can use the iron on method on wood for sure and paper will work. With glass I would stick to the glass cutting boards as I’m not sure if regular glass would be safe. You can use the paper on the cutting boards. So yes on the wood, no on glass. - Joan 🙂
If this is going to be used should dishwasher safe mod podge be used

How do you wash the cutting board? Can you submerge it in water or only wash the top?
I wash by hand, no submerge. Dry right away - Joan
Stumbled on this video. Can I use this method for fabric decoupage on wood?
Thank you for stumbling on my video and giving it a view! Yes, you can! - Joan
So pretty, can you wash it or put it in the dishwasher? Would like to try it 😊 thank you for sharing
Hi Wanda! I do NOT recommend dishwasher on any of the glass items in my DIY’s. I suggest you wipe off the top with some soapy water where the food was, then dry immediately. I hope you give it a try and thank you for watching! - Joan 🙂
Have you tested the mod podge satin, vs matte etc. Does it make the fabric look better or worse?
Hi Valerie! I have not tested the satin Mod Podge, satin would be fine to use with the fabric. 🙂 - Joan
Can you use a Cricut heat press?
Hi Jacquelyn! No only an iron and a small craft iron is best. The heat press would be unsafe on this. Thank you for asking and watching! 🙂 - Joan
Can you put a vinyl decal on first and then add the fabric when adding the mod podge?
I have never tried that. Seems like it may be a little too thick. Try it on a DT plate and see if it works! - Joan
Does it with stand the dishwasher?
I don’t put in the dishwasher, I just wipe it off. Check out Mod Podge Dishwasher Safe formula. Read the label for complete instructions. - Joan

Will this same method with magazine paper
Hi Carol! I don’t know, I never tried a magazine. I’m not sure if it would adhere well but you can try. If it doesn’t work out you can wash it off. - Joan 🙂
Beautiful! Love your channel. New subscriber. Do you ever use tissue paper? I am excited to try this. ❤🌻🦋🌼⚘🌷
Hi Fran! Yes you can use gift tissue, I have even used gift wrap! Thank you for watching and subscribing! 🙂 - Joan
@@JoanMarieDomino Thank you very much. ❤
Do you have to use satin decoupage or can you use any modpodge like Matte?
Any
If you choose to use the glitter, do you put the glitter on first, let it dry, then spread two coats of Mod Podge on as well?
Glitter first
Can you use a heat press
No! - Joan
Can you use an adhesive spray sealer on fabric?
I am not familiar with that sealer so I can’t advise. - Joan
What would be the washing instructions on this??
Hand wash only, quick wipe and dry. No dishwasher- Joan
Can these projects be submerged in dish water? Or should they only we wiped clean on the non-decopaged side?
Just wipe clean
when you did the glass cutting board with fabric did you paint the back side like you did with the one you made with the napkin?
No I don’t paint the back of fabric because it is more opaque than napkins. I really enjoy decoupaging the glass cutting boards and I hope you will give it a try! - Joan 🙂
Can we use the regular iron
Hi! Yes you can use your household iron, no steam.
How is this washable Do you have to just hand wash it or can you put it in water
Hi Deedy! They need to be sealed and hand wash top only. I explained in the video the proper care if you want to use them. Thank you for watching 🙂 - Joan
They now sell Mod Podge for fabric
You don’t need Fabric MP for these glass cutting boards. FMP: fabric to fabric, napkin to fabric. I have lots of videos with FMP
Can these be washed in really hot water?
No, not scalding hot that you will burn yourself and don’t submerge. Just regular soapy water to do a quick wipe and dry immediately.
Do you have to seal the back with anything?
Yes you should use a varnish like DuraClear. At least 4 coats letting each coat dry before applying the next. Hand wash only, quick wash and dry immediately
@@JoanMarieDomino thank you very much
Is the glue food safe?
Hi Marie! In this video the Mod Podge glue and napkin are underneath the glass and never touch any food. The Mod Podge glue, although considered nontoxic, is not approved as food safe. Hope that helps. -Joan

Is this going to be washable?
Handwash only and quick dry
Why would you not use mod podge dishwasher
It’s my preference to hand wash my decor and use a sealant instead.
@@JoanMarieDomino k thought maybe it was something else
Some use & prefer dishwasher safe MP. If you want to try it please read the label on the container, it has important info. You may like it 🙂 Joan
Can you wash it.
Hand wash
Never mind good point they just look awful small to be a cutting board
I know, lol. I use mine as decorative because they are still pretty! 😉🙂
They don’t carry that glass at our dollar tree
