Just came across this video i own 2 pioneer woman glass cutting boards and back paper started to peel off. I took it off completely , scrubbed cleaned dried . and now was looking for tutorials on how to mod podge glass cutting board thank u really good explanation no need to watch anymore videos on this.God bless you
@ one more question please 🙏 where can i buy pretty paper hobby lobby doesnt really carry anything do buy from amazon ? What is this paper called ? Thank you i appreciate it !!!
I am wanting to make a Christmas cutting board but several videos have said yes it can be used and some have said no it can’t be used. I trust and respect your craft- thanks for your time!
You are doing reverse decoupage so everything is under the glass, nothing is touching the food. However if you are even the least bit uncomfortable then use only for decor.
I love all of your work. I give such easy step by step instructions that I feel that I can do everything that you do. Thank you so very much for sharing your talent with the rest of us. I have subscribed to your channel so that I do not miss any of your videos.
I already did some of your fabric coasters and absolutely loved the result. I'm having trouble tracking down napkins where I live at this time of year but as soon as I find some there'll be no stopping me! Thanks so much for your clear and concise instructions. xoxo
IMPORTANT CARE INFORMATION! The glass cutting board is labeled “cutting board” and should be used as such. Please no dishwasher, no microwave and clean the top cutting area only! Thank you! - Joan ❤️
I never put any of my decoupaged items in the dishwasher, I give them a quick wipe and dry. If you want to try the dishwasher safe, wait the 28 days for curing as advised and put on the top rack. Let me know how it goes and maybe I’ll try, lol Thank you so much for watching! - Joan 🙂
Thanks so much! I looked on Vippies and now I see where it says it opens to a complete picture on some of the napkins. Thanks for the other ideas too. Love your videos! Carey
Oh no!! The two Dollar Trees I go to just started getting them again after months. I think you can order on line and pick up in store too. Good luck! 🙂 Joan **** EDIT! I just checked their website and you can order 4 free ship to store! And they are in stock! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

@@JoanMarieDomino I use a clear spray, so far so good…. Of course you are setting you pot on the side without deco so it does look great, and works perfectly as a trivet.
❤ them all, I have watched the one with the fabric as well and I am going to purchase some and they still have them I checked but for now what I want to ask is could I do this method on regular glass like inside of a picture?
I have never used the iron-on method with any glass products beside the cutting boards. They are thick and have no sharp edges like glass in a picture frame. You can glue fabric to glass easily and you can do it without an iron. - Joan
Hi Lisa! The napkin goes upside down so when you flip over the cutting board it is right side up. This is a very important step so please refer to the video! - Joan 🙂
Hi! Yes you can decoupage without a craft iron, you can use a household iron on medium cotton and no steam. You still need to put the parchment on top before you iron. You can also put the napkin on the glass without the iron but you must do it while the glue is still wet. Then carefully place the top layer of the napkin on top of the glue and smooth it out. I hope that helps. - Joan 🙂❤️
Hi! You would use medium cotton NO STEAM (very important) but each iron is different so hot enough to melt glue but not too hot to scorch napkin! Thank you for watching my video! 🙂❤️
Fantastic tutorial! Easy to understand and follow.. Thank-you! Can you tell me the cutting board with the butterflies appears to be crackled! Is there a tutorial on that one? Love the look of that one as well! Thanks again!
Hi Maria! The butterfly paper I used had the crackle look printed on it! You can crackle the back of the glass cutting boards but I have no video on that yet! Thank you so much for watching! - Joan 🙂
@@JoanMarieDomino Thanks sooo much at what stage would you crackle? Mod podge...paper... paint crackle... paint again seal? lol Did that makes sense.. I look forward to a video.. TIA
It’s like the opposite of doing a regular crackle so, Decoupage napkin, white paint, glue and dark paint...lol, I think that would work! I have to give it a try. Would work on the back of the cookie plates too! I guess we won’t know till we try! - Joan 😃
Your projects are so pretty. You have a great eye for placement of the napkins. When you use spray glitter, do you spray it on before decoupaging the napkin?
Hi! I put the glitter spray on first (or extreme glitter Mod Podge) and let dry. Then I do a couple coats of Mod Podge on top of the glitter spray and let each coat dry before I do the ‘iron-on’. If you are using the extreme glitter MP for the glitter effect (NOT the spray) then just add one coat of regular MP on top of the extreme glitter MP. Then you are ready to adhere the napkin. Hope that makes sense. Thank you for the kind words, they mean so much to me! - Joan ❤️🙂
I have made four of these cutting boards and they turned out really beautiful. I’m having a problem on the back side, though. I’m getting bubbles on the back side. It doesn’t affect how it looks on the front but I’m wondering what I’m doing to cause this. Too much decoupage glue? Too much or too little ironing? I’m using a regular size iron on high heat with no steam. If you have any suggestions I’d appreciate it. Thank you!
Bubbles on the back..did you put a sealant on the back or Mod Podge both can cause bubbles. Also when you iron you have to make sure the entire glass is heated enough to melt the glue so when you iron go slow. You can try to iron again. Let me know if that helps Joan
I love this decoupage cutting board and want to try it. I bought a round cutting board at Dollar Tree with a diameter of almost 8 inches. I’m having a hard time finding a napkin with an image size big enough to cover the whole glass. I looked on Vippies and couldn’t find the one you used. Can you give me some advice on finding napkins with a full image when opened? Thank you!
Hi Carey! I made this video several years ago so I think some of the ones I used have sold out. Guest size napkins are good for the cutting boards, Vippies has a bunch under floral. The napkins are usually noted if it opens to a complete picture, which is what you need. You can also use printed gift tissue, paper table cloths and fabric. I have another video for using fabric instead of napkins. Also regular paper will also work. Hope that helps! Joan 🙂
How do you get the mod podge not to look streaking when it dries? I tried making borders along with a centered piece instead of covering the whole cutting board with one napkin. 😳
Love watching You! I have tried this and when I put on the mod podge (after the napkin), the glue turned into a white finish? Will this go away after I seal it?
Hi Diane! Has it gone away yet? Sounds like you put a lot of MP on top of the napkin. Too much MP and it won’t dry clear if it hasn’t by now. Did you re-iron? Paint? Could be other reasons. Watch the video again is really my best answer because I don’t have your cutting board in front of me. 🙂 Joan
Thank you for your video it was very reaffirming and helpful. I decided to paint the back of my of my glass cutting board using the white Waverly chalk paint, just as you described. But I'm noticing cracking in the paint along the edges of the glass cutting board. Do you have any suggestions on how to prevent that?
Hi Kathleen! Here are some possibilities Waverly is a thicker chalk paint and may crackle. Mod Podge needs at least a couple days to dry before the paint and this is a common occurrence. Instead of putting MP on before you paint use a light coat of a sealant like Rustoleum or DuraClear. Let that dry before you paint. The sealant will give you the barrier you need before you paint. Good luck. 🙂
Hi Shirley! I’m going to ask you to please watch the video again so you can see the order things must be done. This is very important, thank you - Joan 🙂
I have been looking for instructions on “How to do a transfer of a photo onto the inside of a white Corelle plate?” But I’m having trouble finding anything close to what I’m trying to do. I’m trying to decoupage a picture of my twin boys wedding pictures with the dates to give them for their 10th Anniversary and the other son’s 25th Anniversary. Do you have any information on how I can accomplish this task for them?
Hi Tracy! No you can’t use a photo and a copy from an inkjet printer is not waterproof. You would need to get a copy from a laser printer for good results. Take the photo to a copy shop and get a laser print. That should work! Let me know - Joan 🙂
Hi! The iron is on it for less then a minute. A hot dish etc would be on it for a much longer period of time. I wouldn’t use it for a trivet for a hot dish but it’s up to you if you want to do that. Joan
Hi, Joan...I was wondering, when you applied your white chalk paint, did you dab it on or paint it on? Do you have any videos showing that application? I'm hesitant to try it in fear of streaks showing through. Suggestions? Thanks!
Hi Vine! I almost always use a sponge dabber when I apply chalk paint, I don’t like streaks either. If you are going to try on a Dollar Tree cutting board and are not happy with the results, you can soak in warm soapy water to remove the napkin....then try again! Only wash off if you did NOT apply a sealant. - Joan 🙂
Thank you again. I watch and use all your tutorials. I have at least 10 bottles of Waverly "chalk" paint like you show in your video. But then I noticed under "Chalk" it says it is an acrylic paint. Sure is confusing for consumer. Is it chalk paint or acrylic paint? That makes a big difference. So you're saying it's ok to use when a chalk paint is needed? Like for your glass plates or for painting jars or the cutting board above?
Chalk paint is acrylic paint. It has an additive that makes it have a slight texture and matte finish. You can make your own by googling homemade chalk paint. Most start with acrylic white paint. - Joan
@@JoanMarieDomino Thk you. I read the label again and I had taken each line separately. "No Prep" "Acrylic Paint". But once I read again I can see "no prep acrylic paint". Now it makes sense. But now I have another question. I just finished ironing my glass cutting plate you demonstrated above. I noticed when I unwrapped 2 of the glass plates from the Dollar Tree that one was smooth on both sides. I thought that was weird, but I felt it could be my practice plate. Once I completed ironing and flipped it over, I saw all the brush marks from the 2 coats of decoupage glue. I was hoping to give as gifts but I don't like seeing the glue strokes. Does it show on the glass plate that is textured on one side too? The glass plate turned out beautiful other than that and I suspect I can't cut on it so I'll just use it as plate to set wine on or a flower vase. Thanks again for all your "beginner" instructions. As you can tell, I'm a beginner at decoupaging. I make cards and jewelry but I want to branch out and your videos have helped me so much.
I noticed the cutting boards are smooth on both sides now too. Heavy layers of MP will show streaks especially gloss. Use matte and thin layers. Sometimes there’s still streaks. Just keep at it! - Joan
Hi! If you are referring to the back of the cutting board (where the napkin is decoupaged) that needs to be sealed if you plan on using it and hand washing. It doesn’t have to be glossy. - Joan
Hi June! I have never used the dishwasher safe Mod Podge. I use spray sealant and I wash by hand. I don’t trust anything to keep these safe in a dishwasher, lol. Sorry I could not be more helpful. - Joan 🙂
I am covering my item with decoupage glue, letting it dry before I lay my napkin down to iron with my parchment paper over. Then I let it cool before I apply another coat of glue. I have had a few disasters today. X
Too thick of a coat of Mod Podge. Thin layers. Also darker color napkins will show the brush strokes even more. Also try different brushes. I find really soft brushes work the best. Take your time, practice and be patient with yourself. 🙂 Joan
Hi Laura! I take you step by step in the video with techniques and products I use. It’s very important for you to have success to follow these steps! Here is the link ua-cam.com/video/MjPrrPy8kHA/v-deo.html - Joan 🙂
Hi Jeanne! Some paper mache would crush if you pressed down on them. I saw some paper mache letters in Michaels and they were pretty substantial so I know they would work. Depends on what you have. 🙂 - Joan
You can do the iron-on method on wood, I have a video for that. However you would be able to USE wood cutting boards, they would be decor only- Joan. ua-cam.com/play/PLXcu8mq6IXvdXI8s97APv-R2xF9waR8zR.html&si=-jW7tLpXHzgOjT77

- Joan
Hi,
Can I decoupage photos or words printed by Laser printer? Thanks.
Hi Ruth! Yes you can definitely use a laser printer! A laser copy is waterproof so it will not smudge or run! - Joan 🙂
Is the gloss varnish necessary? I have all of the materials except the varnish.
Hi! If you are referring to the back of the cutting board (where the napkin is decoupaged) that needs to be sealed if you plan on using it and hand washing. It doesn’t have to be glossy. - Joan
Do you iron over the little tabs that are in the back or do you take them off?
They are removed. Here’s the complete step-by-step tutorial - Joan ua-cam.com/video/MjPrrPy8kHA/v-deo.htmlsi=GX0YOGbT_oqEk4U0
If you want to paint the back what are the steps? 2 coats modpodge, iron on napkin, one more coat modpodge, iron on again - and then?
Paint and seal
Would using dishwasher safe mode lodge help in dealing these?
Hi June! I have never used the dishwasher safe Mod Podge. I use spray sealant and I wash by hand. I don’t trust anything to keep these safe in a dishwasher, lol. Sorry I could not be more helpful. - Joan 🙂
@@JoanMarieDomino Thank you for the advice and quick reply. They are beautiful!!
Please do tutorial glass hot pod trivet
Hi! I have no plans on doing a trivet because I haven’t found a safe enough sealant. Maybe resin but I don’t work with resin. Sorry 😕Joan
@@JoanMarieDomino thank you for reply
After I have ironed on the napkin I alway get bubble. Am I doing something wrong? X
Hi Angela! Tell me step by step what you do and the products you use. I need this information to help you Joan
I am covering my item with decoupage glue, letting it dry before I lay my napkin down to iron with my parchment paper over. Then I let it cool before I apply another coat of glue. I have had a few disasters today. X
After the top coat of glue it bubbles? You can just iron it again
I tried this but after ironing napkin I still see brush strokes of mod podge? Is that normal? What can I do?
Too thick of a coat of Mod Podge. Thin layers. Also darker color napkins will show the brush strokes even more. Also try different brushes. I find really soft brushes work the best. Take your time, practice and be patient with yourself. 🙂 Joan
I don’t see when you applied the glue. Did you use mod podge? Do I iron on the napkin while the glue is wet out dry?
Hi Laura! I take you step by step in the video with techniques and products I use. It’s very important for you to have success to follow these steps! Here is the link ua-cam.com/video/MjPrrPy8kHA/v-deo.html - Joan 🙂
@@JoanMarieDomino Thank you!!
I was wondering can you iron on paper napkins on paper mache letters
Hi Jeanne! Some paper mache would crush if you pressed down on them. I saw some paper mache letters in Michaels and they were pretty substantial so I know they would work. Depends on what you have. 🙂 - Joan
@@JoanMarieDomino thank you so much I very much appreciate you getting back with so soon I do have a paper mache letter
Jeanne Warrick you’re welcome 🙂
Joan, when I put my chalk paint on , when it dries it cracks. Can you tell me why?
Yes the Mod Podge was not completely dry. Switch from MP to a spray clear sealant before you paint. Sealant dries quicker. - Joan
do I have to iron it on I do not have the Cricut iron
Hi Chris! You can use a household iron. Set high, no steam - Joan 🙂
Could you do this wooden cutting boards
You can do the iron-on method on wood, I have a video for that. However you would be able to USE wood cutting boards, they would be decor only- Joan. ua-cam.com/play/PLXcu8mq6IXvdXI8s97APv-R2xF9waR8zR.html&si=-jW7tLpXHzgOjT77
Could you use scrapbook paper?
Yes you can 🙂 Joan

what effect would it have if i put another coat of modge podge on at the end?
IDK, I made them as shown in the video. You can always try
What do you do I’d the napkin doesn’t fit the whole glass cutting board?
You can use paint
What can de used for
Dollar Tree sells it as cutting board for food. If that interests you or you’d like to learn how to do reverse decoupage: ua-cam.com/video/MjPrrPy8kHA/v-deo.htmlsi=Eo8_3yrqhE2W8xgs
would it ruin it to put 2 coats of Modge Podge on at the end?
Mod Podge is not waterproof
Me n mod podge don't get along. When I try this mine don't go clear . When I do fabric. Havent tried napkin.
marie dun sometimes it takes a little practice. I like napkins and fabric. Fabric is easiest. - Joan 🙂
