    It's interesting comparing and contrasting Heat Culture with Spurs Culture, two of the most consistently excellent and professional organizations in the sport. Both are flat in hierarchy, demand peak physical fitness, carve away egos, and exclusively seek players that can plug into their existing culture. Where the difference lies, I think, is that Popovich places a larger emphasis on developing personal, amicable bonds with his players whereas Spo has no qualms alienating anyone to get his point across. Even players that regretted their tenure in San Antonio have almost always opined that they maintain a lot of affection for Pop and his teachings, notably Kawhi Leonard. Spo doesn't seem to have that same aura, nor do I think he particular wants cares to develop one. In a word, the Spurs are "stoic" while the Heat are "militaristic".

    I'm a casual fan,and I don't have a favorite NBA team,but I'm looking for a team to root for. This video puts a lot about the Heat into context,and after seeing this, I'm respecting their approach now. High standards lead to success, eventually,and I think it's a part of what makes Miami a destination for players . Thanks!

    Interesting observation. I don't think I ever really noticed how the Heat exclusively have a defined culture unlike any other Nba team. Not sure what I think about Pat Riley, but there is no denying what he has been able to put together and develop with that team. Pretty cool that he chose to hire Spoltra with the sake of "passion for the game" as the defining reason to put him at the helm. And for sticking to his guns on putting the culture as priority over appeasing a superstar player. I always kinda wondered how after Butler switching teams a few times in a couple years he found a proper home in Miami, makes sense now, he is a great fit for that organization. I highly doubt I am going to learn Portuguese. I have been "digging" heat culture stuff for a few years now but couldn't put my finger on the reason why, this definitely explains how/why this franchise is significantly different than (all?) the others. That pic of the corndog 😋. Also just curious, what's with the Coby White jersey tug being incorporated to the last few videos? Thanks for another goody. Appreciate you fam.

    • @whatslaps
      @whatslaps  Рік тому +1

      I'm starting to become a heat fan just because it feels like a religion or a cult. A lot of people have said the spurs have culture too, which I have to agree. They don't really define it though. One thing I know about Pop is that he takes the time to get to know his players. The personal touch is pretty cool. I know he said one of his biggest regrets in his career was cutting Raja Bell. It says something about him that he even remember that. This is a funny thought I had. Imagine the heat losing a gnarly game, then getting on their private jet and eating corndogs for dinner stewing in their loss. I don't know why but millionaire eating corndogs angry is one of the funniest things I've ever thought about. I left Coby in there just for fun. we'll see if he sticks around. he's in the final cut timeline for the moment.

    I dont follow the heat so much as GSW where I am based from. But I realized when Steph Curry or Green was out, GSW is mediocre team. When Raptors beat GSW in finals and Kawhi left year after, Raptors were mediocre team. When Lebron left Cavs, they became mediocre team. This is different with Heat. When Lebron left Heat, Heat still consistently made playoffs and even got into NBA finals twice I believe. Doing it all without superstar. Spo might be the best coach in NBA right now

    Heat culture is an interesting concept but when it comes to championships they have as many since LeBron as Detroit does. They've been successful but they haven't won any rings in a long time. I think I prefer Spurs culture overheat culture but they haven't won much recently either. If you're just looking at the future of those two franchises though you have to think that the Spurs are in a better place now then the heat are. Obviously that's not because of anything that they've done as much as having won the lottery with Victor.
