- Wow this one took a while! Really happy with how it turned out though!
I was really inspired by this song as I like how it shows both sides of the build up. Burr's anger and Hamilton's acceptance.

Guys this song isn’t The world was wide enough, it’s the workshop version of it called ‘10 things one thing’ which is the original version of it. people keep commenting this but clearly they are not listening to the whole song to realise it’s different. So I just ask, please listen to the whole thing before commenting something like that. Thank you again for the support guys 💕

I just noticed that what if burr shot as fast as he did due to the fact of being afraid of his daughter growing up without a father if he dies.
So the fear of his daughter losing him clouded his thinking.
So when burr realizes what he just did and he instantly regrets it when he shouts "wait!"

It literally was stated in the song. Burr said in one of the lyrics 'this man will not make an orphan of my daughter'. So yes, it has been already obvious if you listen to the song carefully. It might have been hard to hear because of his sobs.

what’s crazy to me is that they both changed roles.
burr shot hamilton because alex wasn’t one to stop a fight. he never did anything that could cause him to lose.
hamilton thought that burr would be thinking better, he thought that if he threw away his shot the fight would be over.
in the end, burr wanting to be equal to hamilton got alex killed.

I think it's more powerful way it is, that we don't hear from Hamilton anymore after he's shot. Because he's dead. Gone. All we've left with is shock and chaos and the aftermath and the characters who are still alive.
@@atinity6749 I see what you mean, but at the same time, it gave us insight into why Hamilton, in the musical, didn't shoot, and decided to do the same as his son, even though he died doing that. It also just is much more heart wrenching to me hearing him say he'll return to Eliza before she can even read his letter

Yeah, getting to see it from both perspectives makes it feel more dramatic. We get to see Hamilton's true intentions when he put on his glasses, him remembering Phillip's death, and him trusting burr enough to believe he wouldn't shoot.
What if when Hamilton said:

He was referring to his mother.

Actually theres a whole historical thing behinds this. Despite my deep love for the musical it is INCREDIBLY inaccurate because its based of a very bias and inaccurate book. Before the duel Hamilton repeatedly cleaned his glasses and practice aiming for several minutes. Despite what Lin says most historains think Hamilton shot first and not Burr because the only agreed upon fact is that there was a several second lapse so Hamilton would not have shot like he did as a result of being shot himself and was probably on the ground already. Also he did aim his pistol toward the sky but the way to throw away ones shot is to aim at the ground so that means just as much as if he aimed super fair left or right. Also Hamilton provided the pistols which were hair trigger (which is ILLEGAL btw) so we don't even know if Burr shot on purpose. It's all very sad.

What he means is that they are dueling because of personal reasons, not because of politics. The only reason why Burr challenged Hamilton to a duel is that he found out about Hamiton slandering his personality. Hamilton, on the other hand, thought that the reason was that he voted for Jefferson in the election of 1800, costing him the election. So since Hamilton thought that the duel was about politics, he trusted Burr enough to infer that he wasn't going to shoot, because killing hamilton would destroy Burr's legacy, and both of the men are working to secure their legacies (As said by Burr in Wait For It and by Hamilton throughout the play). So Hamilton decided to forfeit by aiming at the sky. Burr, on the other hand, knows that Hamilton has a marksman's ability, and fears that he will shoot him. However, right before they take their paces, he thinks about his daughter, and becomes angry, and shoots Hamilton out of anger, instead of fear. But right after he shoots him, he realizes what he has done, and regrets it.

He's sure. Dueling was frowned upon so he knew that he'd never get to be president or anything if he killed him.

I hope you don’t mind a lengthy comment because honestly this work deserves so much feedback.
The most general thing I would say is that I love how you draw Alex and Burr, especially their eyes. The eyes are very expressive, and it’s evidently so every time you show us the character’s eyes.
The transition is so so smooth. The one from “this man willNOT make an orphan of my daughter” where Theodosia appears from behind Alex, or when Alex’s younger self turns away from him at “so I’ve got to throw away my...shot” and the sunrise over New York. These transitions are just so admirable.
The way you put little things in here and there in the song, Eliza leaving Alex’s study room with sadness, the past reflects, the way you manage to make Burr and Alex contrast each other in those past flashbacks are so great! I can’t wait until your next work!

I apologise about the inaccuracies with the guns! I know they are wrong for the time period and that’s because I was lazy tbh and didn’t use references. I wanted the expressions and movement to be the main focus. Does anyone find facinating how Hamilton refers to shooting his gun towards the sky as "throwing away his shot." If the duel went like it should have, both of them would have lived. Is that throwing away your shot or using it to save you both and show how Hamilton was willing to give his life to resolve this feud, or throwing away his shot?

Scribbles it was still a sort of odd thought tho. i understand that he's scared theodosia will be left alone but if you think about it the duel happened in 1804, and theodosia is pretty much 22 by then ( if we take into account what burr said in the workshop! version of schuyler defeated, he told eliza ‘she's the same age as your boy’ ) & is an adult. also she had a husband by then im pretty sure.
it makes sense that he doesn't want to leave his daughter behind , tho. & he was worried because he thought that hamilton aka the "shoot first talk later" would shoot , & hamilton wasn't worried because he thought that burr aka the " talk first shoot later " won't shoot so it's pretty much just miscommunication and a misunderstanding.
BUT of course if hamilton just apologized this shit wouldn't have happened anyway. rant over 😂

We can’t really say that Burr was thinking about Eliza there and say that he should. Because from what Burr knows, if he won’t act quickly, he’ll die. And even though Theo is already 22, married and has kids(?), losing a Parent will always be traumatising and scary. So I guess Burr had his daughter in Mind being scared, being alone while also in need to take care of her children.

I like this song because it shows how they saw each other. Hamilton trusted Burr not to shoot, he was mature and never did anything drastic. Burr thought Hamilton would shoot because Hamilton was the crazy one, he was a do now think later type of guy.
It also shows how much they misunderstood each other. They still saw each other as their younger selves, in their minds the other hadn't changed in the 30 years they'd known each other. Burr still saw Hamilton as the crazy 19 year old and Hamilton still looked at Burr and thought of the wise young man from 30 years ago.
Hamilton didn't notice how blinded Burr was with rage, he didn't realise that Burr wasn't his calm, collected self. Burr didn't realise that Alexander was so tired of everything, in his mind Hamilton was just as aggressive and fast-paced as he was when they met. Hamilton put on his glasses so he could guess if Burr was going to shoot or not, but Burr was so terrified that he over thought it and took it as Hamilton wanting to aim to kill him. Also, 19 year old Alexander didn't need glasses so the back of Burr's mind was thinking 'Why is he wearing them? He didn't 30 years ago!' when in reality Hamilton had terrible vision, he was almost 50 after all.
No offense to Burr, but I’m pretty sure that his daughter would have been fine without him. Not that she wouldn’t have been sad, but by the time of the duel, she was an adult and married. Hamilton still had young children that needed a father figure. Burr ended up losing Theodosia years later; she was lost at sea. Burr killed the only person that would probably actually talk to him. Him and Ham might not have been friends, but I feel like if Burr eventually stopped hating Hamilton, that they might have gotten along. But, of course, he shot Ham, and after he lost his daughter, lived out the rest of his life very lonely.
Yeah, but Burr wouldn't think about Hamilton's children, he would've thought about his child. Historically, Burr felt no remorse for killing Hamilton.
Hamilton died in Eliza love , Burr lost his wife and later on his daughter .

The thing as well is that Burr used to frequent the Hamilton household. They were friends. They would all eat dinner together and such.
He had a 12 year and another son 4 years after the duel....so he also has children to care for. Also he had 4 more child’s but I couldn’t find much about them

This version confuses me so much. If you're planning to aim your pistol at the sky and not duel, WHY ARE YOU DUELLING, THERE'S LIKE TWENTY CHANCES TO GO "NO" rather than doing it in the most tragic fashion possible. Great animatic, but hearing this version of the song just raises questions for me.

It was all about pride. Neither one would back down. But in the end Hamilton wasn't going to take his friend's life, even if they were feuding. Burr assumed the worst and obviously didn't want to lose the duel.
Look saying no was like betraying your name. And Alexander wanted fame. He wanted a legacy. So he said yes. And God I am fucking crying

Fun fact: One of the rules for dueling is that glasses are not allowed unless they are necessary for you to be able to see clearly. Hamilton was wearing his glasses because he needed them, not to take deadly aim.
He probably also had bad eyes due to the color of his eyes, his eyes were lighter than the average person so they were prone to more sensitivity
You deserve so much more subscribers! I loved how u used Aaron Burr in "how he always hated confrontation" such as Alex facing Lee and him and Alex fighting over the U.S. Constitution. So smart to use those as a way of him looking back~

It’s one of the workshop songs, if you look up Hamilton workshop on UA-cam you’ll find a lot of songs that didn’t get used or original versions of songs that got used in the musical and were changed

Hey, it took Hamilton's Federalists hating on Burr in two different elections for him to ask for a duel. Even after the letter where Burr asked only for an apology Hamilton made a smartass response saying,
"You know, I've shittalked you so much I forgot what exactly pissed you off now?". It's hard not to blame Burr.

It hurts me so much that Burr's main reason to shoot was that he didn't want his daughter to grow up without parents as he did. He didn't want her to possibly make the same mistakes he did without that guidance. Meanwhile Alexander's children still have their mother and always did, she outlived most of their kids. Burr knew that if hamilton had to die his kids would be okay but burr's wouldnt.
WHY DOES LIN PUT US THROUGH THIS, THIS IS SO PAINFUL UGH. MUCH MORE PAINFUL THAN THE VERSION THAT MADE IT TO THE SOUNDTRACK
I held in my tears while watching all of the Hamilton animatics for the first time. I didn’t cry somehow.
IF I HAD HEARD THIS VERSION OF THE SONG-
I would’ve been SOBBING.
The things is, they were both right about their deductions about each other and if this dual happened during act 1, then the roles would be reversed, but what they both didn't account for is that they both learned from eachother. Hamilton started to think about his actions and consequences and becane aware of the position he has, on the other hand Burr started to take initiative instead of waiting around without aim and he is determined to complete stuff.
the best part is his realisation that despite all he had previously said the world turned upside down and he has to throw away his shot

Okay so I got this song played over itself, and layered Burrs and Hamilton's section and its so satisfying whenever the ensemble came together to yell a number, and also whenever Burr and Hamilton ever sang together. It was kinda like Farmer Refuted but a lot sadder.

This really shows how there’s two stories,
Burr thought that Hamilton would shoot him, as he played with the trigger and thought he was wearing his glasses to get a better shot, just because he had a marksman ability and he didn’t remember how is son died in the same spot. He only thought about his daughter.
while Hamilton remembered that’s where his son had died and was messing with his gun in sadness thinking about how scared his son must have been, put his glasses on to see if Burrs face softened at all hoping he would be able to see his wife once more and he thought Burr would backdown because he didn’t like confrontation.
Tbh, this is better than ‘the world was wide enough’

Honestly, I feel like this is an extremely haunting song- The World Was Wide Enough is sad, but this one just makes your skin crawl with the buildup- You’ve done an excellent job with the imagery and the colors, you’ve really captured this song well!
You’ve got a talent for drawing but the real talent is how you draw it from a new perspective. It got so deep when the young Alexander was walking away all disappointed from the old Alexander (“I’ve got to throw away my...shot”) because that showed how much time passed and how the characters kind of differ from their past. That was my favourite scene. On an all, amazing animatic✨
This is absolutely amazing! I hope that you'll consider doing Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story. I think you could do the last song of the musical the justice it deserves. I can't wait to see what you do next!
