Pamela, I am SO happy that I found your videos, and especially this one because it taught me how to conserve my Prismacolors. They are already pretty worn down after only about 4 months but no more will I color (or sharpen) that way! Thanks for really teaching me how to color. Can't wait to put it into practice and watch more of your videos!

My grandma and great grandma loves/loved adult coloring.. when my great grandma was alive I was amazed by her coloring skills as I’m seeing similar techniques.. I’ve always had a heart for coloring as I grew up with it, I’ve finally found my area of coloring books I love and these techniques are so extremely helpful.. this makes me super excited to continue the family artistry of adult coloring ❤️

I saw that Amazon Basic has a set of colored pencils I wonder if they are better that crayola.. I won’t ever buy super expensive colors.. but I would swing for those Amazon Basics I saw someone using for Bible journaling, that’s why I started coloring more & my skill level because I got a color & journaling Bible and I want it to be good..

I clicked thinking there’s no way I’ll see anything new, right? Well I was mistaken. Thank you for taking the time to do this! I’ve been coloring obsessively since COVID. Thank you!
By the way the camera looks up close to the picture and you can tell it’s hand drawn, it’s “imperfect” like a Hand drawn picture, and I absolutely love that. I respect that so much in a coloring book. I’ve been creating a coloring book for more than 15 years and I’m so hard on myself, that this book you’re coloring in is making me feel like I really should just publish it.

Thank you for doing this video. I do have a critique tho and that is that as a new/beginner I have not spent hundreds of dollars on colored pencils, rather bought cheap such as Crayola and such. I can only imagine that other newbies have done the same.

    • @kj3d812
      @kj3d812 6 днів тому

@PLTubbsfavorites totally agree. The Prismacolors she's using currently cost $139.99 on Amazon -- way more than I'm prepared to spend on colored pencils at this point in time. I've only just started dipping my toes into adult coloring (I've dabbled in it from time to time over the years but not for any real length of time), so it doesn't really make sense to drop $140 on pencils until I'm sure it's something I love doing. No doubt most newbies are in the same boat. I have 48 colors to work with -- not 150. 😒

Such a great video on stepping up your coloring game and why!! 👏👏 I've been thinking that it might make a great series on finishing up your coloring pages. You often comment on videos that "I've not finished this page, but I really should." Some could be fixing pages that were tutorials like the pots here. You could do one page per month and let your FB group vote on which page you finish. Just a thought. May your coloring be stress-free!! 🤗

Hello Pamela. I am new to the adult coloring community. I found your channel a few weeks ago, and I subscribed. I love your techniques.
I was still using my 64 box of Crayola Crayon Colors that I love. I was coloring in kids' books with looks of white space. However, I was still coloring like a kid. Scribbling everywhere. And definitely not coloring skin or backgrounds. 😂
Thank you so much for this video. I bought the Prismacolor Premier Pencil and the Faber-Castell Watercolour Penils, my two favorites back in 2020 for Bible Journaling. They are still new. I just wasn't able to graps using these Penils. But, after this tutorial, I am going to give them a try.
Question: I think it has been confusing me that it seems like you are coloring the same image 3 or 4 times. Like using highlights, med tone, and dark tones. It seems like it would take forever to color one item on the page. So, I guess that's how it is supposed to be done? And oh yeah, I couldn't really tell, are you doing circling motions and strokes?
I am going to watch part 2 next. Tfs

Excellent tutorial on blending, highlighting, and shading. As I am starting all of your videos over again, I am learning things I missed the first go around before my health issue. The good thing is I was still able to acquire supplies, so I was able to get this coloring book by Eriy and some others that you also have tutorials and tips/tricks/hacks in. A lot of the Johanna Basford books, Kerby Rosanes, and some Teresa Goodridge, and I just received 4 set of Whimsical Gnomes, it doesn't give artist just Adalida Quinn Press. But I wanted to thank you again for this very instructional and easy to learn and follow along video! Can't wait to move along to the next.

Thank you Pamela, I enjoyed this video. I still wonder about the highlights, while understanding how to include shadows. How do you decide where to add highlights? I think of highlights being used to represent a shine and often shy away from using them on things like the terracotta pots. Are the highlights always determined by the source of light, therefore, being on the same side of each item you color? When you color the leaves and add highlights, do all the leaves get highlights or only ones that would be touched by a source of light? Looking forward to your response.

I learned so much from this video. Thank you so so much taking the time to do this. Would you be interested in completing this page at some point? So that we may be able to follow along come, to learn how to make all of the different items on this page come together. It's very overwhelming

Loving this very informative and helpful video. Thanks for doing that. Although I have seen it lots of times on other uploads, having it the way you explained it was really helpful. I'm such a newbie in terms of I have zero knowledge about shade and light and blending etc., it's watching uploads like this that really help and "give" me something. Thank you for that. It's really appreciated. 😁👍❤️

I'm a complete noob. I just ordered the 100 piece crayola set and Neenah Paper Exact Vellum Bristol copy paper. I plan on starting with print outs before I destroy any beautiful coloring books. Your videos are so helpful. Thank you so much. Hopefully in time I will move up to Prizma pencils and books.

Oh I am so glad you found my channel. "Noobs" are definitely welcome here! It's so funny you used that reference as I usually hear that from the gaming community and never here. 😂 Getting PDFs to start is a great idea. There are many wonderful artists that have their books available in PDF format. You chose a great paper. If you're a beginner, I would start with seeing if something by Deborah Muller appeals to you. Jade Summer also has their books available in PDF on their website.

@@PamelasPassionforPencils Well I guess that makes sense because I am also part of or used to be from the gaming community. I just assume everyone knows what noob means but perhaps they don't. I will have to be more considerate in my choice of words in the future. Cheers!!

@@Funtime-kx5rx oh you don’t need to me more considerate in your choice of words for me. I’m also a “gamer” and have been for years so I knew exactly what you meant by it. I actually loved your comment because the wording was so relatable.

Hello... thanks so much for this video. Going to save it. I am new to this art. I am coming from the mixed media world and somehow your video came up. I am hooked on your videos and others. I ordered my first coloring books. Coming from England I believe so they will take a while to arrive. I have some colored pencils and ink pencils that I use in the mixed media art so I believe I have most of the supplies needed to get started. I am just patiently waiting for my books. Meanwhile I will watch and binge on yours and others coloring channels to get me prepared. You are so good at explaining. Thanks. Oh by the way I went to follow your Facebook page. Hope they accept me because I just opened a Facebook only for the art so I have no previous activity on it like was requested. Thanks again for your videos. God bless!

That makes me smile! I love that I am seeing so many of you saying that you're going to grab your pencils and start coloring again. That is my intention with this entire series. Coloring is such a wonderful hobby and so relaxing. Enjoy yourself and if you're in my Facebook group, please post what you create. I would love to see it. ❤

Wouldn't how you color which leaves be also determined by where your light source was and where the leaf is on the tree? If the leaf is more in the center of the tree, wouldn't it be darker or have a smaller or darker highlight if it's more shaded by other leaves?
