- Howdy howdy! Today we take you on a visit to a newly rented apartment by a friend of ours in Valencia Dumaguete. For me, this is still a cheap rental because for this money you can only rent a studio apartment in Poland. I like the idea that the living space is upstairs because you would have more privacy in the day time, like neighbors or strangers wouldn't be able to easily bother you and I love that it feels like a flat/condo up there with the bright atmosphere and pretty tree tops and pool view. It's definitely nice to have a good window view, having a great view livens up the room.
Also, I think, if your master bedroom is downstairs, you notice burglars maybe directly when they break in. Could be also a reason
Incredible value, he has a stove and oven... truly amazing. That would be a dream house for me in Philippines. Hoping to have something like that there one day.

Gil knows that rent is freaking great deal! You cannot get that apartment for less than $2200/month here in California water & power not included & not furnished too! Hell I would live there too!

wow, that is a nice apartment. I can see myself living there. $500 is a steal compared to SoCal. It's quiet and clean. I hope I can find a place like that when I retire in a few years. Los Angeles would still be my home base but would be spending more time in Valencia or Bacong. I can speak fluent Tagalog and hopefully learn Visaya down the road. I think this is a great apartment and good value for money. It's beautifully furnished (especially the living room) and nicely layed out. I like the fact that the livingroom is upstairs, because you have a nice view from there.

I watched your video with regard to the apartment and I liked the layout of it quite well. Are you allowed to say the name of the place and the location of where it is? I will be coming to Dumaguete next April to look around for a potential place to eventually live. It would be nice to record addresses of various potential places to rent. I also like quiet places. We found a beautiful 4 bedroom house, fully furnished with split aircon on Samal island for 20k. Only2 years old , bungalow with fully gated..

That is a wonderful price. If the Internet was good I would be happy to pay that for a two bedroom since we pay four times that for a one bedroom here in the United States!! I would live like a King for all of the savings!!

We told that its 10 min from Dumaguete, its a city so everything its there. I don't know his interent but we have 300 mbps, Dumaguete area have good internet and no black outs.

Everywhere along the road are lying water hoses that are probably connected through some kind of pump with a water intake in the river or a deep well. The problem in some places is with the diameter of the hoses and during the day there are problems with water pressure. In Gil's place there is no such problem at our place is in the evening we have very good water pressure and in the morning poor.

Depends on the person for example Gil needs AC. We can live anywhere without AC. Valencia is a bit cooler but not a big difference.
paradise. everything is too dear where I come from, too much taxes, council rates, water rates , electricity.. gas, car food, high taxes to pay for welfare for people who wont work, insurance, gasoline, slave to pay for CTP , rego, you are so lucky1
If you have savings or a pension from a western country it's cool. Tell the Filipinos they are living in paradise with their $10 / day sallary or even less.

Not sure about it but i think they use electric water heaters, anyway its so easy to build solar heating here

There is no problem to rent something decent i Dumaguete area for that money, just come and look for something. You can check on FB marketplace.

As someone from the UK, I don't think $450 per month is cheap at all, that is the standard 2 bedroom house rent in the UK so that's rather expensive if you ask me

Hahaha "heat blisters". Self-diagnosing, oh dear. Could be miliaria (prickly heat rash) but rarely on hands. Normally in places where heat and dampness can build up like under clothes and skin folds.
An eczema or allergic contact dermatitis might be more likely because it can happen on hands and for a person in a new country so many things are completely new to them like soaps that can irritate the skin. In developing countries a lot of perfumes can be added to soap because many locals think perfume smells like "clean". And of course the cheapest materials are always used without regard for safety.
Decades ago when I was young Americans were pretty aware of the tropics having many health issues. But recently, I guess as the world has gotten smaller and countries in the tropics have built up to appear to look like the West, Americans are now not realizing places like PH are actually very different, with a whole new batch of virus, bacteria, fungus, insects, products and foods. Other countries manufacture product to look like Western products but the ingredients can be very different. Not in Kansas anymore. Whenever I travel I experience all kinds of minor sickness and health issues.
I think Gil was joking he just prefers to sit in air-conditioned rooms rather than sweat all day.
Thats too expensive...you just a need a place to sleep...you will be spending most of time outside.
