Helldivers 2 was the easiest win for Sony.
They just couldn't help themselves.
"We have something positive that people like, we *MUST* DESTROY it"
@@mikkelnpetersenIn its announcement, Sony emphasizes that linking accounts is an important building block for protecting the community. It allows the company to effectively ban players who violate the rules and, in turn, allows them to appeal against this ban. This measure is intended to help keep the gaming environment safe and prevent griefing and abuse.
@@danielweiss4498 Boo fuckin hoo if someones griefing just kick them
@@danielweiss4498 You mean they want to censor people and find ways to steal games they payed for from the owners because some made up arcane terms of service reason. Good job licking boot though. Why do you feel the need to stand up for the poor wittle weak multi-billion dollar company? You're values are inverted.
Helldivers 2 is just another low effort coop game, but this time it's tied to a company with a history of bad business practices.
It’s fucking hilarious hearing Sony say that this is for security when they’ve had more data breaches than PS5 exclusives 💀💀💀
It's not about security. They want user data from PC users.
Microsoft does the same with sea of thieves. Its for corporate security and their personal eula. If they did not do this and another system had other eula they could not do anything about it.
This is just greedy Sony execs over in Japan who want to control PC gaming. It has nothing to do with "security". Leaked documents already showed Sony wants to open a "PC store" on PC, forcing people to use PSN is the first step. Arrowhead should have self-published.
One game. I don't know why,
@@TerrariaLuvr then why does Microsoft think they need to do it in a 6 year old game?
This is fraud. Sony claims PSN linking was planned from the get-go, yet they sold it in regions they know PSN is not available in. This is illegal. They are committing mass fraud and people need to report them to their countries trade organizations
They have always been a fraud. Nothing new. Big companies will only get greedier
5sec to make a psn account
@BurningRubber454 how can they do that if PSN can not be made on those country? Plus Sony is the worse place to put your data given their history of data breaches. You aren't the smartest of the family, ain't you?
@@BurningRubber454 yeah too bad that IT'S NOT AVAILABLE IN OTHER COUNTRIES
@@BurningRubber454 "yet they sold it in regions they know PSN is not available in."
Reading is fundamental.
PSN is not available everywhere.
Sony got greedy and lied.
Just for the point of reference:
Poland and Finland have PSN, whilst Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia - two countries that are a stone toss away from them - currently do not.
How absurd is that for Sony to cherrypick which nations get to and which don't get to set up an account WITHIN THE SAME CONTINENT
I am from Lithuania, and when the pronoun parasite said it takes 2 minutes to create an account, funny thing happened - it took 2 minutes to get banned cause I selected Poland since it was the closest country for me. I can no longer play Helldivers 150 hours so maybe enough copium to consolodate a loss.
After uninstalling the game it took another ~50min to get rid of the anticheat. I am paranoid whether I was successful and if the root kit won't install itself in time, but PC performance bounced back to what it was before getting the "packaged deal" with helldivers
@@RockTheEternalHope you can get a refund, sorry for the time investment
@@RockTheEternalCan you elaborate on the anti cheat point? Does helldivers 2 have really invasive anti cheat?
@@-lord1754 Yes sir, you install the game with kernel level access anticheat and when you uninstall the game, the anticheat stays and remains active, you manually uninstall .exe and delete what remained in HD2 folder, reset pc, only to find gameguard reinstalled itself. (It was a little freaky when your pc tracks the executable coming from S32 "GAMEmon -service" you look there, it's not there, and after restarting pc it pulls Obiwans "hello there")
@@-lord1754 From what I read after a quick search the rootkit they're using (all kernel-level anticheats are rootkits aka malware and I will not be convinced otherwise) is somewhat infamous for its litany of performance issues, vulnerabilities and being generally uncooperative.
Sony saying they want us to link our Steam to PSN to improve our account's security measures is like hearing a drowning man say he wants to teach us how to swim.
It's practically adding a Trojan into whatever security you've got. Sony SUCKS at security.
Exactly - how do you boost security by introducing more ways to compromise it by linking everything together. Are they stupid?
@@kash1Mz They literally got hacked yesterday lmao
could not have put it better.
I'm wondering...if i would link my psn (i got my old ps4 acc) to my steam, would they get my steamdata then? Probably, right?
I really don't wanna connect it anyways...seems like they're going to force it for ghost of tsushims too, which is a shame :/
It's insane to me that parasites don't realize they'll die if they kill the host.

@@lightdarksoul2097I think they mean more so the Execs leaching money from the devs hard work.
@@UmbrasMercy that makes more sense
They do it so OFTEN though. You’d think even the corporate analytics they’re mindlessly following would start pointing away from this at some point.
Somehow it never, ever does. How are these the people who decide where money goes?
@@lightdarksoul2097 In this circumstance it's publishers to devs who make good games. Insane greed like this kills the studio via community backlash and a feeling of betrayal, which then kills the publishers efforts, which then hurts them for getting more popular things made, etc and so forth. You can have a business if you don't have customers.
Linking to PSN is also extremely dangerous, as Sony keeps getting hacked all the time. Their security is completely useless. And linking also gives them access to your Steam info, ALL of it.
that not true they not had a personal data hack since 2011 in which they changed since then. While it true sony insomniac was hack not long ago that was a phishing hack on a employee laptop not a network hack. Plus if you think steam or microsoft are any more bulletproof perhaps you should look back at their histories.
"take 120 seconds out of your day to enter an email and password and then forget about it." It takes 10 seconds to request a refund on Steam, zero seconds to not buy the game at all, and you don't have to worry about another Sony data breach or them selling your info to third parties. You aren't in a good bargaining position to mock us about it.
Even better to that person who said the 2-minute.
It would take almost instant for the system to notice you're not on the correct region when playing multi-player
Takes the same time to take sony games off your wishlist.
His only good point was stating that users upset about it should "make their displeasure known on a platform that matters" and even had the decency to specify that platform for us: Steam reviews.
Good to see that the community listened on this one important point.
Yong "forgot" to mention the fact that the community manager apologized, admitting they didn't know PSN wasn't available in so many countries, and they doubled down on encouraging people to leave a negative review on the game
Missing the point that nobody should HAVE to. Ridiculous nowadays, everything needs a f*cking account.
I can’t wait till Sony goes "Technically, playing Hellduvers 2 online is a PS Plus feature so we're gonna need you to pay for PS Plus on Steam". Mark my words.

You dare put that energy out into the world? 😬
Dude, don’t give them ideas!
@@hampdog5716 The reason I'm wanting to now not buy the game is because Sony is pulling this and my main reason is because I have no doubt that charging PS+, making it a requirement is there plan all along. This is like how Microsoft now tries to force you to create a Microsoft account when installing the USB VERSION OF WINDOWS 11. I got the USB because it was a brand new PC I built, and couldn't connect to wifi before having windows installed, then they tried to force me to immediately connect via ethernet which I can't do. There's a workaround which involves using command prompt to bypass that so-called necessity, then on restarting the PC the option for "I don't have access to internet" shows up. Like they couldn't have just showed that from the beginning. All these megacorporations trying to get every bit of data they have on you so they can sell it is beyond absurd.
Sony said they wanted to do this so they can ban people on PC. This isn't arrowheads call, this is a sony mandate. I don't see them backtracking on this at all.
Trying to get a password recovery email from sony is like to squeeze water from charcoal
Yeah, I went through this process once, I won't do it again just because of Helldivers
Sounds about right
It was easy for me. But my issue for this is the places that don't allow to make PSN accounts are S.O.L.
Seriously, that whole second paragraph is a giant nothing burger.
I about 5, 6 years ago wanted to try it becuase I loved to PC and never needed PSN again, bro I could never recover my account it's insane.
The major complaint is that this change is of no benefit to the players and just helps Sony boost their account numbers for their next shareholder's meeting, with a bonus of getting all our information stolen when they get their database hacked next, which seems to happen on an almost annual basis.
Yep pure greed
Last security issue was literally yesterday, las big hack was last September.
Sony deserves another ps3 level hack and shutdown then
I suspect that sony wants to mandate cross play in order to keep the concurrent player count high for ps5 players. Going by sales numbers the ps5 player count is likely lower than the steam player count. As the game is now, as I understand it, there is some toxicity where hosts will kick low level divers, non meta load out divers, non same language speaking divers. If that is happening in a small player base (ps5) than an easy fix would be to merge the player bases.
They all get hacked all the time, what do you mean!
Sony releases games on Steam to reach a larger audience, limits the audience to countries with PSN. Management making big brain moves.

I think this is the reason why Sony wants people to create PSN accounts, once they got your details, they can auto ban and also prompt you to pay for subscription to PSN, even though thousands of people are on steam and don't even own a PS5... why would you buy a PS5 anyway, Sony is well known for being 110% for censorship.

Not a Helldivers 2 player (in fact, I don't own a single Sony-published game) but it seems to me that changing the rules to use a product one has already purchased should be grounds for a hell of a class action lawsuit in every country, especially given Sony's horrible security record. And it should certainly be grounds for legal action in every country where a PSN account is not available, as that is blatant fraud; offering a refund should not negate the legal repercussions of that fraud.
Jesus Yong, you have to ease me in with that intro! I haven't watched some videos of yours for a while and now it's like looking at an entirely different Chad version of Yong time traveling from the future!
So... If they sold a product, in a country that is unable to use that product, for whatever reason, they can't be held legally responsible?
You can request a refund from steam, and they’ll give it to you if you can’t get access to PSN.
@@gamingmoyai3950well that's good. Does it included any money they might have spent on the micro transactions too?
@@gamingmoyai3950 The issue with that is if they also purchased any super credits... Let's say that you buy the $40 version of the game, and then you bought an additional $200 worth of super credits to support the game because you really wanted to show the love to the developers, who are fantastic by the way. Would you get a refund for all of the non-refundable currency as well? Because you just spent money on a product that, at the time, you owned and played, and then suddenly basically your license to play it is being revoked because of a decision that was not disclaimed beforehand? These are the sorts of questions that need to be answered
In legal matter, depend on laws of the country of the user live and the laws on the country where Sony stay.
Steam may refuse your refund as well due to the fact that it will be Steam to eat the cost of a refund of a game they do not own as Sony has their own refund policy and they do not refund on sites they do not have any affiliation with. Basically you need a PSN account to request a refund from PlayStation.

My other question for Sony would be this:
Why sell your console to a country that you won’t allow to use your services at the same time?
Why?
It’s baffling….
Let me buy a PS5 in the Philippines for $500 to never be allowed to use PSN?!?!?

I don't understand. So a game like Minecraft requires you to have a MS account and nobody bats an eye on that? But then this happens and everyone is pissed. I don't really like the idea of requiring an account for something to play it especially if I bought it.
Hypothetically, say you bought Minecraft and back then it doesn't require you to link your account to anything. Now months passed and you've played alot suddenly Minecraft requires you to have an account on something but that service doesn't support your region/country and you can't play MC without it and you already played too much so you can't refund it. What does that make of your purchase of your MC then? This the problem players are facing.
microsoft acct can be located in all but 5 of 169 countries, and you generally need one if you have windows installed. PSN acct can only be made in less than 100 and is only useful if you have a playstation, but many people were still allowed to buy the game and bypass account linking at all, which gave the impression it wasn't required. now it's being made required and all of those people will lose access as they can't make a PSN acct without breaking ToS. people's entire friend groups can no longer play the game they were having fun with together just because of where they live.
Because I can make MS account in my country but not a PSN. PSN only support more or less 73 countries out of 195. If they're going to region lock the game using the PSN account, they should have not sold it to everyone. Steam can easily block users from buying if it's not allowed in a region.
"For the Players" lol, best line of bullshit ever. All for the greed of trying to get more PSN users. People have steam account for security measures, why do they need another one?. Your more likely to be breached with more data on you held in more places.
I don’t care if it was always the plan. They still took money from people who live in countries that can’t have a PSN account. That’s wrong. They need to salvage the situation as best they can and FAST.
Good luck lol. This gonna games gonna crash and burn. Sadly the fad came crashing down.
A lot of companies want people to sign up for a useless service just to access games. It sucks that shareholders and investors never actually care about the people who give them money. The stocks drop and instead of fixing the problem, the shareholders and investors jump ship to sink another boat.

Even worse for players who have purchased the premium currency, and live in a non psn country. Not only is their time investment all for nothing, so is any potential money they've spent into the mtx.
Steam needs to step in here. It's simply not acceptable to charge for a game that players are unable to play the game because of 3rd party requirements. Secondly... Game is bought on Steam. So banning players through PSN for cheating is a joke. Just ban them through Steam account.

@lindtlichr1005 Sony had the worst, dropped the ball handling it. That has also had a long track record of large data breaches and theft. Everyone else's big breach has been less than half of what Sonys was. Sony largest data theft was over 100 Tb, Sony also sees almost 200k accounts phished monthly to Microsofts 90ish and Steam sits at 77k. Sony also has the most lawsuits against them for misappropriation of the data they collect from users.

Well, Sony KNOWS that a potential data breach is way more expensive to deal with, than the money they'll lose over this controversy... so suddenly panicking and buffing their security makes sense. It’s funny they sell the game in countries you can’t make a psn account… so this change is silly.
But in my experience they won’t back down. If player numbers drop they’ll just make it free to play and the game is obviously designed to switch that way once this happens like over watch, counter strike et al.
And a lot of games have changed login requirements - Minecraft for example
That's the biggest issue. Sony wanted it this way from the beginning but still sold it in places that wouldn't work. If anything says there's a bit of a lie here and that they're only doing this now for the numbers, then that fact is it.

The fact that there's *nothing* in the EULA indicating the necessity of a PSN account/connection, and them having zero answers for the region locked playerbase, tells me that this was an ad hoc decision that wasn't planned from the start, but Sony simply didn't expect how successful HD2 would become and so now they jumped on the opportunity of datahogging and do what they can to strongarm us into it.
If this wasn't on the EULA before I bought HD2, I shouldn't be forced to do this. If I wasn't warned prior that this would be happening, or that they would've made this a requirement in the future, I wouldn't've purchased HD2 or any amount of Supercredits at all before clocking hundreds of hours.
EDIT: mark my words, next they’re gonna try and force Steam users to have a PSN account with an active PSN Plus subscription to play HD2 with friends in the future, which is why they’re trying to force people to have an account connected.
I've been playing on PS5 but I'm still disgusted by this behavior and regret getting the Super Citizen edition to support the game. As if that wasn't enough, I gifted the game to a friend on Steam last week 🤦🏻♂
Yeah, the fact that requiring a connection to PSN was never in the EULA may be an opportunity for a lot of people to give Sony a rough buggering with a courthouse flagpole.
Keep the brass eagle on.
Its because they made a deal with Microsoft. Microsoft does the same with sea of thieves right now on ps. Its their security for eula and such.
I'm not at all defending Sony here, rather I'm highlighting even more insidious BS from them. Although it's not in the EULA, there is a clause that says something about the EULA changing or that we have to follow future decisions, or sth. The idea is that there's a sentence in there that just lets them change the rules whenever they want. It's on the subreddit.
