This game had so much potential, not only people love Smash Bros., but the potential for a roster of appealing characters was even bigger than Nintendo's. But then, they kept making bad decisions, releasing the game unfinished on beta was such a big mistake.
Nah, the game always sucked. Melee looks/plays better and it's a game that's over 20 years old. I don't even get why they went of hiatus if the end result is even worse.
@@Xfushion2 Not defending Multiversus' gameplay here, but Melee runs into the problem of literally hurting its players' hands due to the sheer intensity of the inputs. Multiversus' biggest flaw is that every character has weirdly specific mechanics that feel like a MOBA.
As an avid fighting game player, I have been asking for the "use X DLC character in training modes" FOR YEARS. That feature was great imo. Not only does it give you a route to use a character as a testing ground for purchasing, it allows you to train against them in order to help you play against people who have purchased them. IMO, EVERY fighting game should have this implemented in them. SF6 has a rental system for DLC, but the tickets are limited to the amount you can hold, I believe it's 10 tickets at a time and you only get an hour with a character after using one of these rental tickets. I think it's beyond stupid to not allow this in every fighting game. It could be a great marketing tool and give your playerbase the chance to compete with characters they don't own, which makes the player vs player aspect healthy. ATM, if you don't own a character you won't know what they're capable of and the trial and error phase of playing against DLC characters is pretty frustrating because you will lose a lot to these characters for lack of character knowledge. These are bad looks by WB, but on second look, are we REALLY surprised? WB's track record has been on a rapid decline because the suits cannot help themselves but put way too much emphasis on making money instead of making a good product. Look no further than MK1 and this game, there's a reason these two games are STRUGGLING. The publisher has way too much say in what goes on in the studios. Their movie/TV reputation is following suit as well, they've just been publishing a lot of garbage these days.
I like to point out the credits of the game, it lists ~1000 names but the game has 16 actual developers (ignoring sound, ui and artists). The vast majority of those names in the credits are marketers and business people, for every 1 developer, there is 23 marketers

I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and say that things have changed so drastically is because they moved from whatever Engine they were using before to Unreal Engine and they haven't particularly caught up with the feature set of the old one just yet. Definitely not making the excuse for them, but this is the only thing I could think of that would lead them down a road of a decreased feature set.
It surprises me that when the beta of Multiversus was released, it was destroying the first Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, but now with the release of the second All-Star Brawl, and the release of the full version of Multiversus, the tables have turned drastically, All-Star Brawl 2 is a massive improvement over the original, while the full version of Multiversus has gotten backlash for it's monetization and having less content than the beta.

Let me just start by saying thank you for being the voice of the community and addressing this. We need more big content creators to at least acknowledge these things so that they became more aware to the dev team and community as a whole. I had 350 hours in the beta and played almost every day with my roommate. We patiently waited during the 10 months the game was down and highly anticipated its return. I was certainly prepared to spend hours grinding the game back out again. However me and my roommate INSTANTLY stopped playing upon its return. I agree with every single thing presented in this video but there are some things I desperately need to reiterate: 1. Don't you think I would've bought every character in the beta with my mountain of gold had I known it would be removed, and compensated with actual garbage? Now I'm stuck with a ton of characters locked where instead I easily could've purchased them all previously. 2. It is NOT fun at all to have 30+ frame delays for most moves in the game. The speed is atrocious and utter garbage and is a total slog to play though. The end lag / start up times for every move on every character (including jump speed) makes the game inherently feel unresponsive and unfun to play. Reaction time should be rewarded in a fighting game which is a concept that suffers with the new slow state. The current speed feels more like a chess match with how back and forth the gameplay is, instead of a much more fun faster paced feel. 3. In the beta, simply the more you played, the more you gained; yet that whole idea is completely non-existent in this new version. You're rewarded just the same amount if you played 100 hours versus someone who plays a character for 2 hours (excluding missions). Where is the incentive? Am I supposed to keep playing just to not have anything to work towards? Its a completely backwards and broken system. Look at some of the most popular free long term based games, such as any of Supercells mobile games. Free games, such as clash of clans or fortnite, are wildly popular because every single day there is something to strive towards and accomplish, which is not really the case for this game. And even IF there was something to work for like higher ranks on your characters, you're not gonna have fun doing it anyways when the movement is unplayable. 4. There is absolutely ZERO justification for removing end game stats, leaderboards, exp gained from battles, and individual fighter ranks. Genuinely I see no justification for taking away something every person agreed was a good thing. The direction the dev team took with the mountain of disagreeable changes is laughable. Who thinks TAKING AWAY content is better than leaving it in or adding it? Its completely illogical and unnecessary. 5. Overall, its safe to say that I was heart wrenched and hugely disappointed upon returning to this state of the game after a long 10 month wait. These are issues me and many other people surely agree upon and I know at least in my case, there's no reason I would want to play this game knowing how much better it was/ could've been. Its just like when someone transitions from 60 to 120 fps. Once you experience greatness, you never want to go back. This game unfortunately gave us an incredibly fun and simply designed beta, including its very user friendly and intuitive UI, and instead reverted to a fortnite menu copy with way too many buttons, and numerous issues and changes that were either entirely unnecessary or straight up bad. I appreciate anyone who took time to read this. I am hugely passionate about this game, but until most, if not all of these changes are at least acknowledged or fixed, I don't see myself returning to this hot garbage game state.
Is this the new gaming strategy to release a full game during beta and then scale it back once it's released and you have that audience, just like how companies release microtransactions and RDM after the critics review it?
What's worse is some of the conversion rates and missing skins. I had skins that are now locked, as well as the gold I had doesn't come close to the prestige points they gave me. On top of that the server issues disconnecting us without compensating for our time spent on the match. Had a friend disconnect during a match and had to finish it solo, ended up not getting anything for that.
2:57 - you can still do grounded neutral air. It’s now an IAD (instant aerial dodge) hood the control stick in an up diagonal angle, input dodge then your attack and you do an aerial right above the ground
MultiVersus has all the potential in the world to be a great Smash Bros-style game and with WB's massive collection of iconic characters, there's no end to all the possible dream matches that gamers can put together but typical WB Games always f'n things up as usual.
It’s not the premium currency that was talked about in the Reddit post about most changes from beta to launch. I think they meant fighter currency, but idk why they said you can’t purchase characters without them. The devs removed a “universal” currency from the beta that could be used to unlock both perks and fighters, for 2 seperate currencies for each. Both are much grindier to obtain as well since they are locked behind character level ups and events/battle pass. So the characters are still “free” but much harder to unlock. Also a rep from PFG did mention on twitter that removing the ability to try characters in training was essentially a mistake, but it was probably Warner bros. removing the feature so people are more incentivized to blind purchase fighters or buy premium currency to unlock them quicker.
In addition the input buffer might not sound major, but the default was changed to 30 frames, which was the longest delay we had the option of choosing in the beta. Also every other platform fighter has input buffering in the SINGLE DIGITS, so it feels terrible.
the worst part are the people in denial and saying the game is just as good, if not better. they think people are complaining just to complain. have fun spending $10 on every new character
Odd that they still had not include a Mortal Kombat character in the game yet. The next Mortal Kombat movie is gonna come out soon, they gonna missed that opportunity if they don't hype an MK character for MultiVersus.
There was a post about how it takes like 30 hours of gameplay to unlock the cheapest charcters too, which means the more expensive ones like joker are a ~70 hour endeavor
Clearly they can afford to be generous considering they keep throwing away cash like it’s nothing Mk1 is a joke And multiversus is unfortunately looking like it might be right behind them if they don’t get their shit together
I can't even fully blame WB for this launch. The game is actually missing features that have nothing to do with monetization. It's actual self-destruction.
They added couch co-op, they're adding ranking, the hud is adjustable now and the outlines are removable. Atleast they're trying to listen to the community 😅 I hope they fix all the things, I enjoy this game
First time I've even heard of this game and... ouch. And oh look, those removed features include basically everything that it would have required to have a chance to get me to try it out. ... how convenient!
Dawg they took out the feature where you can change characters in rematches the dodge system feels so trash and the priority of moves seems unbalanced to me and it feels like you’re getting forced to take combos you get stuck in the animation why would they go and make the game worse
Maybe they needed another year before releasing the game that way they should had many things from Beta already there... I don't think we will see any major changes till many weeks or months later...
Meanwhile on Smash Ultimate for $60 they give you like 80+ original characters that you unlock like every 5-10 minutes And for $25 you get -5 new and unique characters -5 stages -Tons of new music from each DLC character’s series -Campaign modes for every new characters -Spirits of that character’s series
Just to reminder: The 5 DLC characters (and the rest of the Fighters Pass for that matter) for Smash Ultimate will one day be inaccessible once Nintendo delists the game from sale similar to older Forza and Need for Speed games.
@@jacobxiaolong9104 Yes, but even if you can’t download the DLC anymore, you’re left with other 80+ characters and more content than you’ll ever need. Multiversus when it eventually fails in less than a year it will have its servers shut down prematurely. And since it’s a live service the entire game will die, and all that money invested in unlocking characters will be for nothing
Training mode also used to let you use any costume which was nice way to preview that as well, but the bigger issue is Jake the Dog's up special acts almost like a lag switch.
And it's still kinda fun 🤦why can't we have good things

In some way it improved and also the lack of some features are mind boggling... shouldn't it be improved on all fronts? I like it but I was a bit "eh?" as I played and got unpleasantly surprised by some weird things... Basic things that were in beta, worked perfectly and I don't get why some features were removed / changed... And sure the monetization got even worse as it was expected but that's just one of the many other issues. I saw that one coming at least.
Ill admit i enjoy the game, played the beta till it went down, and played soon as it opened back up. But like really, yall are just complaining for nothing. Yes monetization sucks, name a single free to play game that doesn't. And it literally has more modes, more characters, more moves for those characters, and more non pvp content. The idea that is has less features is ridiculous seriously. There are plenty to address, that aint lost on me, but reporting on remarks of people who played for 20mins saw the characters weren't free at the jump and they'd need to play the game to unlock is some lazy journalism.
Hey YongYea! Love the content so far, very informative. Could you fix the fingers on the MGS5 hand please? The tip of the middle finger is bent at an odd angle and its concerning me. Thanks!
On top of all this, some of the missions require you to spend money to do! Theres this mission right now that says, "you have to use a character with a graphic tee skin" you have to either grind for weeks to get enough gleamium to get one or pay for it. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A SPECIFIC SKIN TO DO A MISSION?!?!?
This is literally Overwatch 2 all over again. I wish I could play the beta again... Even if its alone against a bot in the training room. That's how bad the game feels now. And lets not forget to mention the scummy industry standard of having the cheapest currency pack be 450 gleamium, but cheapest skin being 500 gleamium. You do that I'll either not spend any money on your game, or not even play your game.
The beta should be available to download still if you want to rollback the version. Pretty sure you could still play offline, I was given the option to trying to get onto this version when it launched without realizing I downloaded the beta, not the launch.
I really hope that major updates along with an adventure mode in style of subspace emissary and the most wanted characters join the roster such as Rwby, more Cartoon network characters, adult swim characters, and warner bros ip characters.
Thats a little misleading though, since there are other ways to earn fighter currency. You get it form missions, character leveling, account leveling, rifts. I have played the game for about 12 hours and have earned about 6.2k which is more than enough for joker
So I will say, I can agree that some things absolutely should be reverted, one of the biggest ones being able to try characters in training you don't own. However there is some misleading information being in this video. 1. Players not getting battlepass XP from playing. (This has been confirmed by Player First Games, as a server bug, where it is not giving the xp for playing matches when it should.) 2. As far as balance goes, i think people are forgetting how busted balance in the beta was. With Finn having godlike hitboxes, and shaggy having an incredibly easy infinite to hit. Velma being generally just picked on every team because of how strong her range was. I am not saying it was terrible but it certainly was not as perfect as everyone remembers. 3. One of the biggest things that for some reason nobody is saying because its a massive improvement, the netcode. Aside from a very rare disconnect from thee server loads. Every gave I have had as been solid. I havent been teleporting or having people freeze.
@@Hulkitout well if characters are standing around its most likely a bot. And I have not seen anyone talk about netcode problems besides the occasional DC.
WB is somehow throwing every piece of crap to the wall, and somehow manage to not even hit the wall on the first place. This makes Battlefield 2042's launch look like a complete product without its 'l3gAzy f3Ature'
"What do you mean, 'mashing everything we own into a sort of digital slurry, charging through the nose for it, and expecting it to make more money than the sum of it's parts' didn't work?!" - some coked up WB executive.
They slowed the gameplay down a lot too. And with the new input buffer and delay the games feels like its playing from underwater. Especially since the old gameplay in the beta was fast and fluid.
From worse monetization and progression to the removal of features like offline couch play, the final release of Multiversus feels like a Warner Bros-fied version of the game.

This game had so much potential, not only people love Smash Bros., but the potential for a roster of appealing characters was even bigger than Nintendo's.
But then, they kept making bad decisions, releasing the game unfinished on beta was such a big mistake.
To be fair, Smash isn't exactly exclusibe to Nintendo characters, and has become more of a celebration of video game history in general.
Nah, the game always sucked. Melee looks/plays better and it's a game that's over 20 years old.

The lost of hand drawn portraits physically hurt me.
it aint that bad... I will admit it's not great but it's not super bad
What's weird is that some characters have them in the Rift modes, but only there and even then it's random. Lebron still has his painted portrait in the Chaos Rift while Bugs doesn't, and they're together in the challenge.
@@blumoon131 I know nothing of game development but what possible reason could they have to remove the portraits in some modes but keep them in others?

I'm gonna guess that all the budget and other that could've made Multiversus better went into Suicide Squad.
Somehow, I can't help but feel you're right, but we're not going to find out for sure until the NDA runs out.
A good netcode and progression system is all this game needed, my negative steam review 2 years ago was " please add middle east / asia servers " and here we are today with no server select option, no ping indicator and god awful online gameplay experience by being matched against random region players

I agree with every single thing presented in this video but there are some things I desperately need to reiterate:
Same, I unlocked everyone during beta and now 4 of them are locked again smh
Man, I don't know how did they downgrade the progression system to a Halo Infinite Launch Progression system? That's wild.
2:57 - you can still do grounded neutral air. It’s now an IAD (instant aerial dodge) hood the control stick in an up diagonal angle, input dodge then your attack and you do an aerial right above the ground
10:35 "YOU WANNA KNOW HOW TO DO A MFKING INFINITE!?"
MultiVersus has all the potential in the world to be a great Smash Bros-style game and with WB's massive collection of iconic characters, there's no end to all the possible dream matches that gamers can put together but typical WB Games always f'n things up as usual.
Not even a infinite face palming in negative seconds has any effect to display my " you DUN FOOKED IT UP!!!

-5 stages
-Tons of new music from each DLC character’s series
-Campaign modes for every new characters
-Spirits of that character’s series

The 5 DLC characters (and the rest of the Fighters Pass for that matter) for Smash Ultimate will one day be inaccessible once Nintendo delists the game from sale similar to older Forza and Need for Speed games.

Sad to see, I was looking forward to playing this. Now I won't touch it.

On top of all this, some of the missions require you to spend money to do! Leave it to Warner Bros. to give you an even worse product on full launch than they did in test-screenings
So I will say, I can agree that some things absolutely should be reverted, one of the biggest ones being able to try characters in training you don't own. However there is some misleading information being in this video.
1. Players not getting battlepass XP from playing. (This has been confirmed by Player First Games, as a server bug, where it is not giving the xp for playing matches when it should.)
You can't be playing the same game because of point 3, not only are characters sluggish I still teleport or see opponents just stand around
