  • Sony, Microsoft, and EA are ruining their games. From forcing account linking, to closing game developer studios, and even replacing their workforce with AI, it seems that everyone in this industry just wants to one up one another in how fast they can tank their reputation

      It is time for gamers to grow up and start respecting their time. Well, always have been. We should not waste our time on mediocrity and eating cacti. Let those puplishers cook, ignore them, abandon their domain. Abolish the idea that you owe to company that sees you as a banknote. You can live without them, yet they are dependant on us.
      Betray your masters, ffs.

    AI is a bubble. give it 10-15 years and itll make a comeback when its more solidified and people learn how to better leverage it but the current bubble will burst

    • @antobu2b
      @antobu2b  Місяць тому +5

      Oh 100% I agree. But this bubble will burst one of two ways: either ai gets to the point where the job market will crash, or ai never gets to that point at a feasible time, forcing companies to reconsider how they spend their money.
      End of the day, it’s all about money, and only about those who help make it whenever it’s profitable.

    I don't know how valid it is, but I heard an interesting take. As games became more popular and sold more copies, people who had no interest in gaming and only saw it as a way to become wealthier have effectively taken over most forms of upper management, especially in the "triple A" sphere. You get these individuals who take control but only see gaming as a financial vehicle. I imagine you could even argue that the CEOs of these companies detest gaming as a whole. This is probably why anytime something is made with passion, they exploit it for everything it's worth before unceremoniously dumping the corpse and moving on to their next victim.

      I’d believe that…end of the day it’s the publishers who decide whether to ship a game regardless of its state. We definitely don’t live in 2010 anymore where games were virtually good across the board.

      @@antobu2b Don't forget that a game can be a financial success but still be declared a failure by the publisher for not bringing in what they "think" it should bring in. this exact thing happened with Dead Space and EA. The first game was modest in its expectations but had a lot of passion put into it. When EA noticed it had become become a bit of a cult classic, they proceeded to up the budget for the second installment, but the expectations were incredibly high as well. Dead Space 2 cost $60 million to make, sold 2 million copies in its first week, and went on to sell more than 4 million copies at $60 USD each. to clarify that's 120 million usd in its first week, and 240 million lifetime. It was considered a failure by EA who proceeded to heavily meddle in the next game, and ultimately butcher its quality in their efforts to sell it to as many people as humanly possible.

    The generative AI story is a nothing burger. C levels just love using buzzwords and AI is it right now. What they mean is the procedural generation tools are going to use "AI" now. So their terrain generation is going to get slightly better. They're already using these tools and have been for the past decade. The algorithm is just getting an upgrade

    at the moment Microsoft is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
    Either they cancel or change the xbox pass, in a way that will limit the amount of 'savings' the players get. Example being to make it only give discount on games, etc.
    Or they stick to it, and find some other way of making revenue. If I saw the numbers correctly, they had only made 3.5b in revenue from xbox pass (In one year or two), compared to the 65bil acquisition of Act-Bliz, then 7billion for Bethesda and zenimax. Those numbers are just not working out for them.

    • @antobu2b
      @antobu2b  Місяць тому

      They are spending too much money to corner the market, while simultaneously closing down businesses because they aren’t making them enough money…to me that sounds like buying out their competition, and then removing them from the market so they can’t continue to compete against them…

      @@antobu2b Yea, the studios are caught between the struggle. Hi-fi made little money not out of its own fault, but because it was put on the xbox pass. If they'd let it have a month or two of physical sales and online sales before doing that, I genuinely think itd have rounded out. But like I said before, they HAVE to do this. They have to make people want to use the pass, despite it being so bad

    The mistake Sony made with helldiver mandatory accounts is not comparable to what MS and EA are doing in any universe. Sony is literally the only publisher still delivering consistent AAA games.

    If Gamers are opting for Gamepass instead of outright buying the game, it's because Gamers don't see THE VALUE in the game.
    If Gamepass is/has been on The Decline, that means Gamers DO NOT SEE THE VALUE in GAMEPASS, ..whose fault is that?
    Answer: Microsoft.
    I've never used Gamepass ,.never saw the value in it, Xbox 's Online Games with Gold, never used it since Xbox 350, for what? , Xbox stopped producing THE TYPE OF GAMES I LIKED, and might have gone online with.
    So the quality, the type of, Game, The Interactive Entertainment Industry is producing as a whole, is OF LOW QUALITY VALUE.
    Games as Service, ALWAYS ONLINE SINGLE PLAYER, MICRO TRANSACTIONS, derivative unimaginable, uncreative drivel, has lead to The Interactive Entertainment Industry decline.
    This all by design, as American Industry as whole GLOBALLY has been in decline, it's all tide together
