Arrowhead has already did that to this game. Player count hit under 50k most mornings
I feel bad for Arrowhead specifically. They were probably so proud of their progress, only to see it start fading away as their publisher commits to something so idiotic, it's ridiculous. Since they are their publisher, their probably forced to comply.
That's the key here, Arrowhead made a great game. But because Sony is the publisher and has ultimate say, they will kill it with fire if it means making more money off of it.

@@thatbachus Most likely a "blink" situation as this is objectively a bad move that breaks the community's trust, and it seems incredibly out of character for Arrowhead and their focus on making a fun game first.
They said ectedra for a reason you know. Arrowhead has jurisdiction over the game itself, but I could imagine them not having much control over things like accounts since it doesn't relate much to the product being sold.

Steam has been hit by a data breach exactly once way back in 2011, while Sony has been hit 9 times by hackers.
I'm not sure how having more accounts is going to make it safer for gamers. The more data you have online with more companies, the higher the chances your data would get leaked, innit?
Nothing about safety. They just want to inflate account numbers and get access to your data... which then would be available for the next hacker that gets into PSN.

The funny thing about this is linking PSN is not even supported in my region. And freaking Sony have the audacity to require someone from that region to use the service that they are not provide is wild lol.
And to make matters worse it's literally in the PSN ToS to use your real info and to never use a VPN, or they reserve the right to permanently ban you and revoke access to all yours PSN-affiliated games. PSN blocks people in most countries (only 73/193 countries in the world have PSN), so their only alternative to getting banned after the PSN account becomes mandatedis to use a VPN and use fake info.... Which is still a bannable offense to SONY. So you can't even make a dummy account to satisfy SONY.

The safety features of being connected to a PSN account means if another hack happens, your data could be accessed through helldivers. Knowing Sony, someone’s gonna hack into it, again, and somehow gain control of thousands of steam accounts, which as far as I’ve seen, is the main worry. wait so i can't play HD2 anymore if PSN is not available in my country? and i can't refund all the stuff since i'm way way past the minimum hours played.
since losing the right to play isn't your fault you should be able to get a re-fund from steam if you contact customer support
So I need to create a PSN (console) account despite not owning a console, nor planning to own one again, since the PS2 era to play a PC game? Bruh
I don't even own a Playstation... why in the world would i want an account for it?

Sony has to be competing with the likes of Konami and EA as one of the worst publishers ever. Not too long ago they pulled the rug out on Stellar Blade. Even when you’re on PC you can’t get away from this crappy company..

Worst publishers ever for asking you to create an account to play their games
By your logic steam is also a bad publisher ....

This sounds like the mark of a greedy partner (Sony) not greedy developers. Not too big of an issue for me to make a PSN account to continue playing, but it does feel like Sony's growing talons with this grasp for player control.
they placed a skip button then no it is not required. those that clicked skipped should have no responsibility to change. We were given an option and chose our preference. If there were no option then it would be different. It seems some of these stupid changes that have been happening are from sony not the devs.
For me, its not so much that making a PSN account is difficult, its more of being forced to make one has stripped away all the goodwill I had for this game.
this yeah.
@KENyakky so true and was thinking of the same like when do I ever need a psn account if we are on pc plus it feels like the exclusive titles thing for a console like deal but way worse
They were open about this from the very beginning, that it would be required. Why are people acting surprised that they are enforcing something they told you they would from day one?
@@peyoteguy425 So I have not been playing helldivers 2 just fine for the last month without a PSN. Odd how a required thing was simply not required for the game to function, but now they will make it so and ban those of us that lives in a country without PSN support.
@@TrixyTrixter Yes however from the very beginning they stated that they eventually would be enforcing it so my question is, why are you surprised when they told you they would do it? They never stated it was required for the game to function. I hope they find a solution for you guys, but the reality is they were upfront that this would happen from release.
What happens if you are a casual player and disconnected from all these videos. Doing other things in life and check back in after June 4th?? Do you just lose access to the game now?
They should give everyone that wants a refund, this is borderline predatory decisions by the devs.
I do have multiple PSN Accounts, I do own multiple PS Consoles, but I will not just be required to link a game or lose access to it because of bad decisions, I already asked Steam a refund and for sure will be more on the lookout for possible games that this company makes, I guess if their games come to PC is just a complete skip.
ISSUE IS: their kernel anti cheat on pc gives full system access then having to link a psn account means sony now has full access to your system and its data to sell
Really? Just through an account?
There's a reason you need admin prevliges to edit Root files on a PC@@zacharyhutter9085
That's not how it works. nProtect has access. AH and Sony have no control. It's a third-party software they implemented to the game. Also, they don't need to do that to access all your data and sell it. You agree to that simply be making an account, or simply browsing their website for that matter.
Oh damn you put the out the full picture I understand now. Well shit Sony just fucked up damn they killed the democracy hustle and flow. I’m so hooked to the drip of helldivers 2. Playtime remorse hard
No… they don’t. They still have to abide by laws and regulations. Sony cannot snoop on your system beyond what’s outlined in their privacy policy.
…legally
I would fix your title, it isn't "Helldivers" or "ArrowHead," doing this, it's Sony. Probably put them in a legal contract. This is why going fully independent is the way to go, I understand money runs the world, but it's possible without big sponsors.
Good luck too ArrowHead, I really love the game even with their faults.
You may be dumb enough to excuse Arrowhead, I am not.
Too late. Sony would never let this game go. Was doomed from the start...
Sadly it's on Arrowhead for even having accepted these terms.
there is no way arrowhead agreed to have this game be publsihed by sony without also accepting their terms of pushing psn eventually, it was probably decided on before marketing even began
so yeah even though i agree sony is obviously the bigger party to blame arrowhead is not innocent, and their whole "it's sony doing it not us" from the community managers is disingenuous af, they want their cake (not be blamed for sony's stupidity) and to eat it too (profit from having sony as a publisher)
Sony may be the pointer but arrowhead is the lapdog that obeys. They are not without fault.
I'd wager that the descriptions and perks on the new warbond armor are intentionally incorrect and will be patched to be corrected to frustrate datamining.
Wait so I’ve never had a PlayStation in my life. Will I be able to create a PSN account still? And is there any other catch to the PSN account? Like is it a monthly fee or is it just another account to create?
We can always count on Sony to fuck things up again and again. Seriously considering dropping the game...
Too late, they have invasive anti-cheats, they own your PC more than you do.
Do it, sony needs to see the numbers tank or they'll never gove it up
I will be il play till I cant
We're gonna have to make them hurt.
Helldivers, UNITE!
They were open about this from the very beginning, that it would be required. Why are people acting surprised that they are enforcing something they told you they would from day one?
I'd understand if it was optional and a benefit was gained, like cross cloud saves and carrying on progress on PS5 and vice versa, but they don't even have this 😂

they fr went from helldivers to Ldivers
holy shit that sounded so on point
Super weird considering that the first game was completely separate from PlayStation and never required, nor even had the option to, sign into psn.
The first game simply didn't go through Sony as a publisher.
first game was probably published by a different publisher. Arrowhead has unfortunately been stabbed in the back by Sony with this decision.
Makes sense
To be perfectly honest, I don't think arrowhead cares in the least bit. They already have your 💰. If the games goes in the dumpster, so what?
How do I link to the PSN account I just made? I don't see a QR code or anything under options.
Honestly I hope Arrowhead should start making talks with Valve
Won't really help them at this point. Sony owns the IP and they only contracted AH to make the game.
Heres my thought on this:
LEGALLY speaking they did put "Requires 3rd-Party Account: PlayStation Network (Supports Linking to Steam Account)" on the Steam site on Day 1.
3-4ish months past the release I dont think they gonna do refunds...and I dont think they can be touched either as they did tell everyone in bold yellow that they needed one.
It may be scummy true...but legally its a malicious trick by Sony...and idk whether to be upset or impressed
It was front and centre on the page since release, they’re covered legally
Its not very impressive at all, big companies do this stuff all the time, they entice the user into buying a product and then slowly begin to ruin the user experience when they've pulled customers in.
Upsetting, that’s the only correct option.
In the video was mentioned that to create a PSN account is free. If money is not an issue, why a PC gamer would avoid having a PSN account? Honestly want to understand, is there any data security risk? Or is it that you don’t want to give your information to Sony?
@@jvazquezpr1A lot of countries don’t have access to that functionality.
What if you're already on ps5? Is there something I'd have to link it too?
Why did they not require this from day 1, this is a major dick move to players who can't have a PSN account. Now those players just can't play the game they paid for and have been playing.
Absolutely no one link. Time to send a message. Bend the knee to the players or go broke.
I wish so badly that this could be true but unfortunately this will never work. We live in a world of consumerism where people literally can't say no to themselves.
@@roo837Reviews are at 65% on steam rn. Does that sound like acceptance?

I literally tried, but I didn't remember my PSN password, and when I tried to do the whole "forgot your password" thing, the email they sent me didn't work. It keeps saying it expired, then they ask me for my email to send another link, but then the new link never shows up. And then Playstation, doesn't have any kind of technical support, so there is literally nothing I can do to login into my old PSN account. The technical chat bot doesn't do anything, he asks for my email and username, then just doesn't reply anymore once I give that to him.
Does not linking PSN to steam actually get you banned? Or does it just block access to the game until you link a PSN

I'm with you. It was fun while it lasted at least. We will find something else eventually. When they see the player base fall off they will come to understand their mistake and future devs will hopefully learn.
+350 for me 😒😤😞
They were open about this from the very beginning, that it would be required. Why are people acting surprised that they are enforcing something they told you they would from day one?
@@peyoteguy425But it wasnt required. I havent used a psn account for a month and i’ve been playing just fine. Only know are they making it an actual requirement months after most people cant refund
For me the linking part isn't too bad. The really shit part is that so many countries do not have PSN support, such as the Baltic states, the whole of Africa apart from Egypt and South Africa, and a few countries in South East Asia like the Philippines to name a few. The game was sold on steam in these countries who will soon be barred from playing at all, unless they register in a neighbouring country that is supported, but they run the risk of getting their account banned for this anyway. It's a foolish decision for Sony to Make and ultimately shoots them in the foot in the long run.
I did not even think of this. The profit loss from this decision will ultimately be worse for pleasing the shareholders anyways.
What does this mean for ps users? Do I have to make a steam account now too?
Htf do you even link your accounts? I'm on steam and see no option?
