- Patti Russo made her name as Meat Loaf's female lead vocalist with his Neverland Express band between 1993 and 2013 but there's a lot more to her story as well.
She fronted Queen in Amsterdam in 2002 at the Queen's Day Festival and at their induction into the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, she's played the lead role of Esmeralda in the London production of Notre Dame de Paris, played the character of Killer Queen in the Las Vegas version of the musical We Will Rock You and guest-starred in the New York City musicals The 12 and The Rock Tenor and the Night Of Broadway benefit shows.
She's got numerous TV credits and her discography includes appearances with Bryan Ferry, Trans Siberian Orchestra and Betty Harris. She's also sang with Cher and Jeff Beck.
Patti has now embarked on a solo career and the Xo!! EP was released earlier this year. Judging by the quality of this release, the future is bright and exciting.
MetalTalk's Mark Taylor caught up with Patti and discussed future plans and past glories.

Patti is the best, I loved her performed with Meat. She has a strong vocal and one of the best singer. She should be recognize as one of the best.
I didn't think I could be an even bigger fan of Patty Russo than I already am, but as a huge Queen fan myself, this has just made me love her even more. She is definitely a fan as well because anyone who mentions Father To Son and Cool Cat in the same sentence obviously knows Queen's catalogue.

She definitely made the songs she sang in a duet with Meat Loaf. She didn't just do a great job singing she also did a great job acting a role in the songs. While other female singers have done a decent job performing the songs and the acting roles involved with them MS. Russo definitely did them best! I wish her the best of luck with the rest of her career.
George Williams: Yes, many women have sang very good songs & even performed decent incarnations of old songs (with Meatloaf). Although, there's no question that when Ms. Patti sings a song with him, it has been S-A-N-G!! That poor song will be rode hard & put away wet when Patti is finished with it......
While she undoubtedly has the voice of an angel, she has many other abilities as well. If you watch her closely (esp when she first began singing with Meat), she is almost intuitive while watching his every move & adjusting her tone/volume & stage presence to line up with what HE is doing - to provide a more dramatic show. She's very clever & very able to "read" him & follow suit.....causing the end result to be a much more entertaining show for the audience, while also showing respect for the lead artist. She wouldn't be able to perform this "magic" unless she TRULY had great admiration of the artist she was working with. This simply confirms that she does, indeed, respect the people she works with. They, in turn, learn to rely on her & her voice to help them through a long concert or any particularly difficult nights. It's impressive to watch an artist that doesn't object to pushing a co-artist upwards, who is honestly happily excited to watch them soar ~
This is, I feel, one of Patti's greatest attributes - being ready to aide those around her to soar to great heights while she provides much needed support from under their wings......
That's what is called a SYMBIOTIC Relationship - they each receive a LOT from each other. Patti always brings more to the table than anyone could expect and it's a beautiful thing to watch ~ ;-)

The interview where you spoke of horrific things that happened while on tour with Meat come on now I can't help but to think that without Meat nobody would know you from a cab driver in Queens! I was fortunate enough to have lunch with Meat here in Nashville the night he performed Johnny be good on Broadway which would ultimately be his last live performance. I actually asked Meat about that interview where you bashed him and being the amazing person he was he grinned and said "Im not going to step in that situation twice please forgive me" So yeah Patti as a Meat fan and personal friend of his please, in the future if you don't have anything nice to say don't throw shade on the one person that made you what you are. Just don't say nothing at all.

Meatloaf needs her back. The band was never the same after he cut ties with her. He just cut ties and had no explanation, there’s defiantly some bad blood I think based on her past interviews.
