    You do a great job on the taste review, i appreciate how descriptive you are and your insights on the taste and how they grew. I was enjoying your talk so much i was sorry you ran out of tomatoes! LOL. Your dogs are fun to watch too. 😊

    Thanks so much for the video , I think you have the best taste test videos , all varieties in one video and your thoughts on each unedited , very helpful 😊.

    I love your taste tests and find them to be on point with the same varieties I've tried. Thank you!

    I enjoyed watching this. I have watched several and love seeing all the varieties. One green one that I will be growing this summer is Aunt Ruby’s German Green. Everyone seems to love that green tomato.

      It's so hard to decide what to plant. I still haven't decided for this year. Yikes!

    Hi Sharon! Great tasting video!!! You're making me hungry for ripe tomatoes! Haha! Love the variety!

    Good info. My sweet pea currants got leaf spot, and wow, they are fussy to harvest. It takes as long to harvest a pea-sized tomato as it does to harvest a Mortgage Lifter or Kellogg's Breakfast... lol... so I won't grow it again. But yes, it does taste good! My fave this year was from the Dwarf Tomato Project (only two seed companies carry them all--I got mine from Victory Seeds): Dwarf Purple Heart. The plants are 5 ft and the tomatoes large and meaty.

      Ha ha! Yeah, they are a pain to harvest, but I love them so much! Love the idea of dwarf tomato plants.

    Thanks for your review! I’ve watched all of them. As a relatively new gardener, I have become obsessed with growing different varieties of tomatoes. I really appreciate the feedback you provide for each of the tomatoes. It is specific and facilitates my decision making process. I’m in Canada (Toronto, Ontario), so some of the varieties are a little trickier for me to find without paying a ridiculous sum to get a seed packet. But it’s also helping me locate some small, obscure Canadian seed companies. So thank you for your great videos!

    So happy to see you do a taste test of the Oxheart. I’ve been growing them for a few years and have shared with friends who now grow them as well. They are one that will always be in my garden along with Sungold. This will be the first year that I’m not growing a Sweet Millions as I’m trying some new varieties. Love watching your taste tests!

      Thanks so much! I love growing Oxhearts!! They are my favorite type of tomato. This year I'm growing at least two, maybe three varieties. Not doing Sungold for the first time in a long time. Good luck with your garden!

    The video I've been looking forward to! I have a whole list of varieties for next year... Dr. Wyche's was one, so I'm glad to know not to pick it until it's really ripe. My favorite cherries this year were "Barry's Crazy" from Wild Boar. Amazingly prolific!

    your cherries are splitting because of over watering!!!!

    • @mzundastud07
      @mzundastud07 3 роки тому +2

      I would totally agree with this - either over watering - or too much rain - but same thing - causes the splitting

    • @lotus....
      @lotus.... 3 роки тому +1

      Irregular watering causes splits. A little bit dry and then a ton of water. Drip irrigation can help with this by keeping the soil a little more moist before a ton of rain. Heavy rainfalls can still cause splitting on thinner skinned tomatoes though. Tomatoes are greedy and will still suck up "yummy to them" rainwater.

    I know this video is old but this was great to watch. My yellow plums (different company) always split and this year I plan on doing a container for that one just to have it up close. I have blue cream to try this year too so that will be interesting. I’ve heard more than once they split so we will do a container at the house too. Thanks for sharing!

      Hi. I missed doing yellow plums last year and am trying a new one this year. The blue cream were so pretty it's almost worth trying them again. Thanks for watching!!

    My German Lunchbox tomatoes looked like yours in my 2020 garden and were blah also. Little sweet. Made nice, sweet salsa. I suspect seeds vary year to year. I see many variations in some heirlooms. Love your videos! You could make good income if you made. Couple videos a week! Would love to see them! Especially tomato taste tests and reviews on how to best preserve them. Which make tastier sauces, etc. Thanks

      I would love to try them again perhaps from another supplier. They are such a nice little tomato. Thanks for the encouragement. This year I am going to try to do shorter videos more often. My channel is growing but I just don't get the views that other gardening channels get. We'll see if that helps. Be well!

    Had you watered not long before the taste test? I find that waters down the flavour a lot - but agree things change from year to year depending on weather conditions in general 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @SharonsHomeGarden
      @SharonsHomeGarden  3 роки тому +1

      Hi. Don't remember. I try not to water right before a taste test so who knows. Everything before last year is a blur! Lol!

    What are you doing after you collected all these chopped mixed tomatoes into he bowl? Are you turning them into sauce? Are you eating them raw?

    • @SharonsHomeGarden
      @SharonsHomeGarden  2 роки тому

      Hi. Throughout the summer I wash my tomatoes and then put them in zip bags and into the freezer. Then when I have enough to process I defrost them and turn them in to sauce or diced tomatoes.

    Sharon awaiting your 2020 , one request , please cut the tomato so that we get to see the cross section view and not the way you have been cutting straight down in your previous 2 taste tests 🙏.

    Splitting comes for too much water! Too much water is detrimental to the plant health and reduces flavours so I always have a row of tomatoes growing in straw vales..

    I wonder if Blue Cream Berries would not split if grown indoors?

    • @SharonsHomeGarden
      @SharonsHomeGarden  4 роки тому +1

      My guess? They would do much better indoors where you can really control the water.

      It's funny how different they are in different environments. Ever year-by-year they are different. Glad you found something that works for you.
