What a great video! Something clicked with me. I’ve been trying to do strict carnivore, but I crave salads and felt guilty eating them. They don’t negatively affect me and they help me reach my goals so YES I can have salads. Now they are not drenched in dressing and I am eating them as a side to my meat. My husband has always laughed at me because I have said for 30 years when he asks what I want to eat, “I need hot meat.” Believe me he had fun with that, but it’s true. Meat makes me feel satisfied. Your video just gave me permission to eat what makes me feel good as long as it 1. Doesn’t affect me negatively or 2. Helps me reach my goals. What great advice! Thank you so much!

I love the FREEDOM of having found that there are really just a FEW nutrient dense AND really satisfying foods that consistently make me feel great.. and it's (independently or in some combination) beef, eggs, butter, fish, salt and occasional heavy cream, pork, chicken - it makes grocery shopping a joy - lol....every once in a great while a bit of fruit... but truly no "fear" of other foods - I'm just free not to have them! once again I appreciate your practical insight!!

This was an excellent video, I think people are losing sight of what the "carnivore lifestyle" is supposed to be, and getting to hung up on what you can and can't eat, when it all the while was the starting an elimination type of eating, and then you go from there on how you feel, when adding other things in. I think some things are self-explanatory, some others could be slippery slopes or things that people can eat, but for the most part we're losing sight of what the whole goal is. 🙏🏽💜

      Agreed!!!
I’ve been eating predomin😢antly carnivore for a little over 2 years, and I’m feeling so well eating this way. I’ve lost 50 lbs and kept it off easily. The only non-carnivore foods I consume are green tea, apple cider vinegar, coffee, and I do eat organic avocados. I cut out all of those and reintroduced them slowly and do not suffer negative side effects. We are all definitely different!! I’m not completely carnivore, but I’d say meat-based, and I eat what works for me!

Is coffee carnivore? No. Is stevia carnivore? No. Is dairy carnivore? Yes.
Does that mean dairy is better than coffee with with stevia. No. Dairy may impact you negatively while coffee and stevia do not.
My personal opinion is that ketones, level of ketosis and fat adaption are what really provide the benefits that I personally see. But you guys do you.
I can absolutely meet my ketone goals while earing carnivore. I can also meet my ketone goals while eating some low carb vegetables and nuts. I have lost 100 lbs, reversed diabetes and hypertension and have kept these results since 2018.
Am I strictly carnivore? No. Do I eat less than 30g of total carbohydrates daily? Absolutely.

    • @gladysobrien1055
      @gladysobrien1055 8 місяців тому +16

I cannot drink coffee or tea without stevia.
Plus I use unsalted butter and MCT oil in my coffee….whipped with a very powerful 800 watt immersion blender. Or else I am hungry all the time. I use 18% cream in my tea, yes, with stevia. I also cook with onion powder,
And I can eat…garlic powder, spices, dill pickles, olives, and believe, hot jalapeño peppers for a kick‼
But, that is me. Like a Laura, I want my food tasty and interesting. Or else I will stop carnivore completely….and I cannot…I have a torn diaphragm and hiatus hernia….and the way I eat s the only way NOT TO EXPERIENCE
UNBELIEVABLE pain, which requires fasting for 72-100 hours until the pain is gone.
Seeing I do not want emergency surgery…I vow to eat this way for the rest of my life. Simple.

Agree! Having said that, it's individual. Dairy does not negatively impact me, but stevia and coffee absolutely impact me negatively. My body rejects coffee - I violently throw it up within minutes. And stevia in any appreciable amount also makes me sick.

Thank you. Very timely. The thing to remember is that it takes a few days to see if the "food " that you are eating affects you one way or another, and my goodness to waste 7 days to see if almond butter badly affects me would be a waste of my time , the creation of cravings and a "weaning" off issue. That, my friend, keeps me from trying anything that is "off" the list.

I call myself "ketovore" because I do eat some veggies -- the ones I like (which isn't many) -- but eat primarily meats. Took a page from your book and made cheese a condiment. I could probably eat a pound of cheese if I didn't watch it!
It wasn't an elimination thing but a diabetes/weight loss thing, and I don't have any real issues that I have to 'hunt out' -- carbs negatively affect my blood sugar levels, but other than that I can eat what I want. But it's much easier to cook some meat, maybe thrown an egg in the pan last few min to dress up that meat a bit..than to try to figure out how to make veggies I don't like, palatable to me... (I still eat the ones I like. Except carrots. Too many carbs in those)
Also as I near my weight goal (13 lbs more) it's getting harder and harder to meet protein needs and lose weight too...being "mostly carnivore" really does help.

Far too many people say, "you can't do X because it'll make you do Y" where actually they're talking about themselves. If any one person can or wants to do something, then do it. You gave a similar opinion in your alcohol video and I appreciate it. I like to drink diet sodas and it helps me maintain my diet, it doesn't drive me into eating sweets. However, I am giving this diet my all. My question is when should I be concerned that my weight is not dropping on carnivore?
I will say though this first week of eating carnivore I have felt so so good I feel like I have had more energy, I sleep better and I have had no cravings!! (Even when my husband is eating a blizzard next to me) 🤣

I'm not sure why this is so hard for some people to get. You eat animal products. Is it the product of, or flesh of an animal? It's carnivore. Otherwise, it's not. Eat fruit or honey if you want, but it's not carnivore, and it shouldn't be confusing for people to understand where that line is.

    • @LauraSpath
      @LauraSpath  8 місяців тому +57

She also said that she was eating vegetables but believed the meat or, "too much of it" was the problem. I was immediately attacked by multiple people for saying meat wasn't the problem and that vegetables aren't carnivore. I dont care what anyone eats. But don't complain about n9t losing weight or a hundred other complaints if you aren't sticking to just meat water butter bacon.
All that being said, this is the third influencer I've seen that is saying it's OK to eat whatever you want. Of course it is, but call it a proper human diet and not carnivore!!!! I've been unsubscribing from all influencers that won't admit what is and isn't carnivore. And I'm not talking about drinking a cup of coffee a day either. You wanna eat fruit and vegetables then admit that you are KETO.

Great video! People keep trying to tell other people that what they're eating is wrong. Maybe it really is. Who knows?
Trying to eat as low fat as possible, I ate mostly Vegan for eleven years throughout the '90s. My rule was 'no animal products' but I could never quite give up the cheese. I think that may be why I didn't have some of the health problems many other long term Vegans experience. But it wasn't doing for me what I hoped it would.
I've now been eating Carnivore for almost three years. My rule is 'no plant products.' BUT I still had a cup of "keto coffee" every morning (black coffee with about two tablespoons of butter and coconut oil blended in). I found that it helped me stay in ketosis which was my primary goal.
I now weigh what I did in college and I've never felt better in my life!
I quit the keto coffee at the end of February because it was just getting too expensive.
I've decided now that I can actually eat Anything I want to, just not very much or very often. As my mom liked to say, "A little bit won't kill you."
This has helped me gracefully negotiate holiday meals with family. Yeah, I usually feel it after.
I really do like pizza, but only three or four times a year.
I still drink black coffee because it seems to quell hunger and is said to encourage ketosis. But again, not every day.
If I notice that I seem to be groggy in the morning, getting a little stinky in places, craving carbs, it tells me I need to get strictly back onto Dr. Berry's suggested staples of Beef, Butter, Bacon, and Eggs.
Cheese seems fine to me, but again in limited portions.
I've decided I'm an adult and I no longer need sugar or sweets. Save those for the little kids at Halloween.
I do count fruits as sweets, also honey, which is an animal product, so some people call it "Carnivore," but it's DEFINITELY a sweet and was historically a rare find.
