Playing live with other instruments is a different experience and will give you provide you a different set of learning that you would not otherwise get playing alone or playing along with the record. things like, playing and keeping with time but at the same time listening to your band mates' sounds and making sure all of you are playing in sync with time; playing and "feeling" the music and making your band mates also "feel" the music. Remember, you are the "heart" of the band... because you provide the "beat". A word of caution though. Sometimes when we start to become "successful" and recognized as a musician, the drive to learn more, to listen to the great masters and learn from their techniques, and to further improve our skills stops. "Why do i need to learn, I'm already famous?! I'm already earning money?" I hope you will not get that kind of mentality. There is always room for improvement, and it always feels good when you learn new things, when you can do things you could not do before.
As a huge Toto fan and a huger Porcaro fan, that was easily the best cover of that shuffle I have ever heard. Listen to this and Porcaro's iso with eyes closed and it's hard to tell one from the other. Bravo!

Playing live with other instruments is a different experience and will give you provide you a different set of learning that you would not otherwise get playing alone or playing along with the record. things like, playing and keeping with time but at the same time listening to your band mates' sounds and making sure all of you are playing in sync with time; playing and "feeling" the music and making your band mates also "feel" the music. Remember, you are the "heart" of the band... because you provide the "beat".
A word of caution though. Sometimes when we start to become "successful" and recognized as a musician, the drive to learn more, to listen to the great masters and learn from their techniques, and to further improve our skills stops. "Why do i need to learn, I'm already famous?! I'm already earning money?" I hope you will not get that kind of mentality. There is always room for improvement, and it always feels good when you learn new things, when you can do things you could not do before.

As a huge Toto fan and a huger Porcaro fan, that was easily the best cover of that shuffle I have ever heard. Listen to this and Porcaro's iso with eyes closed and it's hard to tell one from the other. Bravo!
Her right (open) hand technique looks EXACTLY like Jeff's. Very smooth and effortless. Her left needs a little work. But near perfect nonetheless.

I know Jeff watched this performance from his place in the ether, and was grinning from ear to ear.
This isn't an easy pattern to play, and this young lady played it like SHE was original drummer.
Please help her develop this already amazing talent.
Have her try some Brand X, first & second albums only, with Phil Collins' amazing drum parts.
I've been watching Yoyoka for years now, and would love to see the two of them in a drum duet, such as Genesis used to feature in their set.

Killer drumming I'd hire you on the spot for being able to pull this groove off. I'm a guitarist first and foremost but im a drummer too and i know this pattern pretty well i know how extremely difficult it is to learn shuffles particularly half time
