You guys really need to do a cookbook. Everything you cook looks so good and you tell us how to do it which I like. Thank you for sharing. Was good to see you today. Take care👍
WE'RE COOKING AGAIN!!! We just did porcupine and now five ways to cook my favorite fish. I saw you fish for those salmon....I saw you hunt, prep and enjoy the ptarmigan...I wish you were my neighbors...I guess in a way you are as I'm sitting here with you, on my laptop, in New Hampshire, learning to cook salmon five different ways. My husband asked me why I stopped painting....I said, "my Alaskans are here and they're cooking salmon!" He said, "Well, write it down this time so we can do it." Carry on my friends. You enrich our lives with your wonderful videos of lives well lived. Thank you.
Egg rings for patties=genius! Can’t believe I’ve never thought of that. I have always struggled with fish patties falling apart. Drives me nut. Will try again now thanks to such a simple tip :)
I love ALL your videos, I live with someone very verbally abusive and its very stressful and takes a toll mentally but every week I look forward to a small sliver of happiness even if its only a 30 minute video, your videos give me peace every once in a while. Thank you so much for that.
Hello from Finland! We eat salmon chowder just like yours, usually served with rye bread. It's one of my favourite winter foods. Good job on all of the different salmon foods! They look delicious.
I’ve been watching you two since you made your move to Alaska. I love all your cooking. Simple. Healthy. Fresh. Affordable. Please make a cookbook. You’ll two will be best sellers! Many people will buy it! I’ve made a few of your recipes and loved them all!
I find myself really envious of your lifestyle! I have to imagine your stress levels are pretty low on a daily basis. I am definitely trying to simplify my life to reduce stress but find it hard to do. I’m sure you like everyone else has their stresses but to live in where you live being able to provide primarily for yourselves and enjoying an easier, less stressful life must be awesome!
If only my husband and I could live a similar life to yours, self independence, but I am cold at 63 degrees farenheit. Please keep the videos coming and we will also keep living our lives vicariously through you two. Thank you.
Many people get into cooking ruts and will have a few variations. One of the great things about your channel is that you have such a variety in everything you do. Ice fishing, salmon fishing (with the different varieties, hunting everything, gardening, and on and on. Most people probably don't have more than 2 or a max of 3 recipes for salmon. I think I've seen a couple different wAys you've cooked salmon before this 5 recipes. I want to be more like you when I grow up. Not sure when that will be since I'm already 65.
Hello, love your vids and your cooking Here is a simple tip to elevate your cooking to the next level . Always and I repeat always sauté your onions first. In all dishes. No exceptions. When they are slightly browned then build flavour from there .
Dang all 5 of your dishes looked absolutely delicious 😋 Thanks so much for sharing, I look forward every week for your videos! I absolutely enjoy the both of you and your life in Alaska.
Had a dry cabin at Ninilchik and love watching your videos! My spouse died last summer and I cannot stay at the cabin without help, so it was sold this spring and I cry when I think about it. I love Alaska and the opportunity to catch so many kinds of fish and be creative about eating them. Thank you for your videos!
All your recipes look absolutely delicious! My best friend lives in Portland, Oregon and I'd never had fresh salmon in my life until I went to visit her. I'm from the Midwest, so it's always frozen here when we get it. She made butter poached salmon and it remains the best dish I've ever eaten. She also rubbed some down with Wasabi and added a few spices and grilled it one night. Salmon really is a versatile fish for cooking!
I love seeing your cooking videos, and when you show cooking at the end of a video, the variety of foods and things you come up with of ways to cook are just so fascinating!! Thank you for sharing!!
The canned salmon reminded me of my mom. Growing up she made " Salmon Pea Wiggle" , basically canned red salmon in a cream sauce with peas. She served it over homemade crackers. To this day, it is my comfort food.
Kelly. Your Mother's recipe is much like Turkey Alla King, which uses left over turkey and making a White Sauce seasoned with butter, salt, pepper and a bag of thawed mixed vegetables cooked on the side and folded in and served over toast or brown rice. You Could call your recipe Salmon Alla King, sounds good, think I will try it.
You two just never get old. My favourite channel!! The sparkle in my eyes when I see you have uploaded again, especially when it's cooking or salmon related, imagine both together !! Orgasmic!! 🤣🤣😍
Love the egg rings at first I didn't see them I thought wow he makes perfect patties look at that! While they sound like they taste delicious I love the egg ring trick!
Eric, you are sort of magic. How did you chop those vegetables so fast? Arielle, your bread making skills are impeccable. Everything you both do is absolutely fantastic!
Oh my gosh, so good! The dip, the patties, the soup - everything! Mouth watering. Good tips on how to cook salmon. My Mom frequently made salmon patties. Brought back memories of my childhood and her cooking. Enjoyed the video! 🐟
Hi! Tip from someone whos an avid cook and happen to be indian and prepare curry daily. Cook or 'burn' the curry powder for a bit in a fat of your choice (approx 2 minutes) add some water to form a paste and then prepare your dish as desired. It also helps with digestion of the curry 🍛. Happy cooking lad
I really love salmon. I don't think I've ever had a bad salmon meal. Now I have some new ways to prepare salmon. Thanks for putting together another great video!
Wow that salmon chowder looked absolutely amazing, yes some oyster crackers would have sealed the deal for me. Then it cuts to Eric trying to chase down the salmon and throw it on the beach before it gets away.....we've all been there!!! Awesome episode!!
I LOVE your cooking vlogs and I've made notes to make similar meals (minus some of the cool ingredients like cowboy candy and your special smoked salmon). Thank you for sharing!
Your recipes are amazing! You both look like you were chefs in the past and bring it to a new level in Alaska! . I agree with someone who said you need to write an Alaskan cookbook! All healthy recipes too!
Not that the other recipes did not look scrumptious, but that chowder looked so good, I wanted to reach through the screen and get me some!!! You guys rock it every time!
I bet you could make some great sourdough crackers with your store of herbs and spices and seeds and nuts. YUM Your cooking shows are so wonderful! YT needs to have their own cooking awards, for that matter, they could have their own you name the topic awards. It would be fun to watch all the shows. I vote you you all!
Great job guys! You are a true inspiration to pantry cooking and using what you have! Can't wait to try that chowder! Thanks for sharing your life with us!
You two are my ultimate duo in the kitchen! Man Curry! Salmon dip!! Salmon patties and Salmon Flat bread . 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 did somebody say…. Chowder!!!! In a bread bowl with some Tabasco sauce! Is there any left for me???
As I sit here snarfing down a bowl of salmon chowder I thought it was only right for me to stop by and thank you for the idea. Of course I changed a LOT for our personal taste but it was still a delicious bowl of chowder. My husband thanks you too!
You guys live almost where my family homesteaded in 1960 on the north banks of zkashwitna River. They had 160 acres straddling what is now the Parks Highway. Love your channel.
Awesome! It must be so satisfying to go catch your food process it cook it and make delicious meals y'all don't just fry fish you make great meals! And supply your dogs food from it AND chickens I never knew chickens would eat salmon or moose its just so cool y'all spread it out for everybody that lives there!!
I second the cook book idea! Everything looks so delicious! I have made salmon cakes and just like the chowder you made but I spoon it over wide cooked egg noodles for a creamy like casserole. I have also made salmon in my own mac n cheese using white American cheese to create the cheese sauce. I envy you can eat goat cheese, I found the most incredible goat cheese pizza I ever tasted..darn near killed me literally, oy! here I am highly allergic to it, which is sad because I just absolutely loved the taste..lol ahh that's how it goes! Yes write a cook book! So we all can enjoy your recipes! :)
really appreciate how you guys go out of the way to make new recipes or re-film and explain recipes we have seen before. A lot of other channels would just make a conglomerate of old film clips from previous videos to show how they made it in the past, and i appreciate the effort to make an entirely new video
I say it almost every video, you guys are not a outdoors, homesteading or Alaska channel, your a cooking channel! OMG I am hungry now and I just had dinner! ;)
Eventually you guys should look into a aquaponics setup possibly in the greenhouse if you could keep it warm over winter. You'd get fish harvests and vegetative harvests all year round and it would help create fertilizer for your outdoor garden and typical soil grown garden as well. Just a thought. Love the vids
Thankyou, that salmon chowder mix was something i have been looking for. Maybe as a salmon/seafood potpie or cottage pie. All those dishes looked fantastic, I go with salmon dip as my top pick.
I am originally from Vancouver, Washington and salmon was my favorite fish. I now live in Georgia and most salmon here in the store is farm raised. The good stuff costs an arm and a leg. Whenever I visit Washington, I make sure to get good salmon.
The best way I have found to maintain the freshness of fish is the filet the skin off then freeze in good fresh water where the ice surrounds the fish. Takes longer to thaw but in my experience it tastes like the day you caught it.
Oh my word you two seriously you and Eric need to make a recipe book because all them dishes that you just made made my mouth water I would definitely be an interest in my book thank you for sharing this awesome video on how to cook salmon in so many ways delish!!🤩❤️
You guys really need to do a cookbook. Everything you cook looks so good and you tell us how to do it which I like. Thank you for sharing. Was good to see you today. Take care👍
That's a darn good idea!
@@loriheller2500 I think so. I watch these videos and I get hungry😁
Cookbooks are HARD WORK.
I agree 👍
I'd buy a cookbook for that Chilli recipe & the homemade bacon?! YES, PLEASE!!

the thing i love the most about you guys is that you never shy away from flavor food even tho you live in Alaska and ingredients are hard to come by
I actually squealed with glee when you guys uploaded. You're one of my favorite things to watch when I nurse my babies.
Same here😀
It looks like the two of you had a little salmon cookoff. The spirit of competition is still alive in Alaska.
I love when Eric says "Oh my gosh" when he takes a yummy bite! :)
Y'all are the best channel on the tubes😊 keep doing what you're doing 👏 👌 👍

Yeah…But without peas. Can’t stand them😂
I love rye bread. I don't usually think of Finland having tasty food.
@@hxhdfjifzirstc894 Nordic food definitely not spicy. Simple taste and pure ingredients.
Lohikeitto? Really fantastic stuff.
Standing there with your lover, having a bowl of salmon soup, aaah. Does life get any better.
Great now I'm hungry again ! Thanks for sharing !
No kidding! Haha,,,,

Your cheesy salmon dip with crispy bread pieces looks like a giant sunflower 🌻
You two are my favorite UA-cam channel. I love the real life you are living.
You guys demonstrate that living off the grid doesn't mean doing without. You eat better than most city folk!
Dang all 5 of your dishes looked absolutely delicious 😋

Great job on the editing and story telling throughout the video.

100% I want to eat this.
Rice, rice, baby.
This reminds me of school cafeteria food that nobody wanted, when I was a kid. LOL, like Turkey Tetrazzini.
Omg those dishes look Delicioso. Watching from Sacramento Ca. I’m definitely going to have to watch this video multiple times 😋😁
I second the cook book idea! You have so much knowledge, I would love a book on foraging, teas and canning, too!
Eric changed up his famous saying! “It’s the best we ever made!” Love it!
Man-o-man … that salmon chowder had my mouth watering. I’m sure I could smell it through my iPad!
Oh man, that soup looks soooooo good.

Those were five truly delicious looking salmon meals. It was nice to see you in the cabin again. Bon appetite!
Its just amazing how great those dishes looked and probably tasted while a lot of the ingredients were preserved. A little ingenuity goes a long way
