One of the best videos UA-cam has . This is what life should be . Very lucky children to be in a family that works together like this. Wish I had a jar of that right now!
This is simply awesome! Is it work? Yes. From the hunt, to field dress, to butcher, to process/grind/canning. It is ALL work! The trigger press is the easy part! But knowing you have YOUR food prepared the way YOU want it is priceless! Congratulations on every aspect of this video! I LOVE the way the kids are right there with you doing their part & not complaining one bit! The dogs were cracking my UP! LOL
Nothing makes my heart sing than the "ping" of a canning jar sealing. I think I'm in love with your pressure canner. I now have 2 - 22 qt canners in my pantry.
I just loved when we used to butcher a deer. Always had so many people helping. Hope your family enjoys it as much as you do! Awesome canner! Blessings to you
You could make your own broth from the trimmings, all the connective tissue you are trimming is full of good collagen. Also the bones. It’ll take a bit more prep, but you could eliminate adding industrial produced broth from your own food and get rid of some unneeded chemical preservatives.
When I clean small game, the legs, liver, kidneys and heart go in the freezer. Every other bit of meat with bones goes into the crock pot. Day 1, Pick the meat off the bones and pick the tallow "cookie" off the top to use for frying. Day 2 is soup.
People dont believe me when I say one large animal can feed a family for months. This is beautiful, and it's a life my fiancé and I want to live and teach our children ❤️ my family is from the islands, i was raised in an american city, but I swear my heart belongs to the forest and mountains and I want to live off the land as well as give back to it. This is absolutely beautiful.
Having your children helping doing cleaning or cutting some chunks of meat is really cool... Because they learning about being helpful...great video I really enjoyed 😎
Love your canner, thought I had some nice equipment, yours is incredible! We raise our meat and last year we butchered an ornery bull, steaks and roasts were so tough I ended up canning it all (including the prime rib roasts) just like you guys did - stew & chunks boy is it good and so nice to have instant meals!
great informative video re: next level moose processing... I would be interested in seeing info video how to fabricate the oversize pressure cooker & how you test it to trouble shoot & verify safety
👍Amazing. I love how everyone is involved in the process to truly have an appreciation for the food...from beginning to end. Interstate homemade pressure cooker. Fantastic. Thanks for sharing. 💝
I didn’t watch all the video but I loved the thumbnail. Reminded me of me and my brother having to do stuff with my dad haha. Hated it at the time but boy do I appreciate and look back on it fondly now!
That's the most amazing pressure canner I've ever seen.....ever!!! If I released the pressure in one of my canners like that, I'd have blown-out jars. Also, don't be cranking on those hotter-than-boiling jars. If one goes, you'll be in a burn unit! I know you do a lot of jars, but be cautious. Only one mistake can leave forever scars.
Yeah, for my (lowly by these standards) 23 quart canner, I would get siphoning (where the contents can "volcano" out of the jar) if it comes out of pressure too quickly. I would do my pressure canning towards the end of the night, then just turn off the heat and let it slowly cool overnight. Never leaks. BTW, just an impressive setup they have there. I'd love to have the opportunity to do a moose hunt.
Those "hotter than boiling" jars are not under pressure. They are boiling like that because the have sealed and are under vacuum. But, you're right, the rings don't need to be cranked. Just a fingertip twist would be plenty.
That canner is amazing. Great job all around! I'm envious of the amount if meat you are anle to harvest from,a moose and the gear you have for home processing. I'm in East KY, and even our biggest deer isn't a tenth of that. Great job! I'm editing my venison canning video myself today 😆

You doing this work as a family is awesome, your children will make for good providers for the families they go on to have, knowledge is survival when passed on & implemented
I met a man in the Marines that is from Alaska and from listening to him and watching videos like this I have to say....I am so proud of you guys. You live on some of the least hospitable land of this great nation and you smile doing it. The indomitable American spirit is alive and well in our Northern brothers! God bless!
That’s some serious financial investment into processing equipment, but I guess distributed over the years and amongst family members that benefit from it makes it a more viable option.
I really don’t have a reason other then I think it helps make a better seal, my wife tells me not to tighten them. I know the books say not to do it but we hardly ever have a jar not seal, also I go greater then finger tight at first and then back off to finger tight.
You want the bands to be loose so the jar can burp the air out so you get a vacuum seal once it cools. Then you tighten down the bands to make sure the lid is protected
I loved how I just came across your video again as I’m about to can wild game for the first time. I would love to get to your level someday. Awesome job to your family, you are raising them good👍
Man that is some serious canning going on there.... I noticed when I use my normal sized pressure canner they say to gradually let the steam go or the stuff you're canning can blow back out of the jar or explode.... I noticed yall had it still cooking in the jars when you pulled it out so be careful!
I’m not often impressed...But, I “can” everyday and know how much work went into canning all that. Loving the canner especially.
Many blessings💜
Never put your meat in trash bags or freeze then unfreeze only to refreeze it again
I've been canning for decades, when our family was all home I'd put up 1500 plus jars a year. I LOVE your canner!
Respect for having the whole family involved. Such a good trait for the kids to pick up

I was thinking dog food, added to the internals you don't want to eat. Dogs would be happy and no waste.
I worked in hotels. They used to do it. They had a massive pot slow cooking for 48h. Very nice at the end
Mmmmmm.... Canned moose!! My favorite!!

It is not recommended to tighten the rings when using regular flats (as opposed to reusable) after taking them out of the canner.
