You did a great job with the flan. I am Mexican, and I am gonna write down a super easy recipe with some tips that will help you to get a beautiful result. Traditional Mexican flan recipe doesn’t have cream cheese in it. You can add cream cheese, but the flavor changes drastically to kind of cheesecake instead of flan. This recipe doesn’t have cheesecake, so you will have a more traditional Mexican flan. Ingredients: 1 cup of sugar 6 large eggs 500 mL or about 2 cups of whole milk 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract Instructions: Preheat the oven at 350 F Make the caramel. In your video you are doing the dry method to do caramel, so just put the sugar in the pan and do not stir. When you start to see that the sugar is dissolving, you can move your pan , so everything starts to dissolve. I am not sure due to the light but in the video looks like the caramel is way to cooked, the color should be light brown because if it is overcooked, it will affect your recipe. After your caramel is done, then you pour it in your mold (use same size molds. A big mistake in your video is that you used different sizes molds, and that means different times to cook.) Let you caramel dry. Blend together, eggs, milk, sweetened milk, evaporated milk and vanilla extract, you should blend maybe only 30 seconds, it doesn’t take that long. Once everything is well blended, you’ll see some foam because you blended it. Take the foam out with a spoon and then pour your mix into your molds ( I do not recommend thin molds). Then you want to do the steam method like you did in your video, but put enough water to cover half of the molds. You want to cover with foil the molds or the mold where you put the molds, so the top doesn’t get to dry when cooking in the oven. The time varies according to your mold size , so you want to take them out when you still see some jiggle in the middle. I hope you try this recipe, because you will love it❤❤❤❤❤❤ Good luck!!!
Add a twist called Chocoflan! Chocolate cake mix follow instructions on the box as usual once you have your flan liquid in the pan add cake mix over top! I don't add extra sugar, I found the sweet and condensed milk is enough for me =) I hope you try it!
I'm 76 and was raised in Madison Wisconsin. When I was only 3-8 yo our neighbor owned The Spudnut Shop - a favorite of so many including the college kids from UW. Our neighbor would bring home the spudnuts that didn't sell and the neighborhood kids gathered around his truck to help him get rid of those 'day old' spudnuts. Nothing quite like them, especially on a cold winter day! I've never seen them sold anywhere since I've grown up and you brought back some great memories. Flan is one of my favorites and your cake looked so beautiful. Really appreciate your cooking AND the recipes. Thank you so much.
Arielle, the combo of healthy air, eating all you grow and consuming large quantities of fish and clean, pure water has your skin glowing with health. I’ve never seen such healthy skin. You are a testament of how eating and living natural affects the body. You look beautiful.
We do the flan in Brazil. We don't use cream cheese. 3 eggs, 3/4 can of sweet condensed milk , 1 can of whole milk, vanilla. Mix it all. Cook it in a bigger container. 😋
Love it Brazilian flan is the way to go! I do 4 eggs 2 cups whole milk 2x 14oz cans of sweet condensed milk 1 tbsp vanilla. 1 cup sugar 1/3 cup water Do you swirl the caramel in the dish to cover the sides?
@ #Rafaella, After you pour your uncooked liquid flan in a dish then placed inside another bigger pan to cook surrounded by a heated bath called, a Bain~marie? How long do you bake it for?
Eric seems to make each dessert sound as if it's the best thing that he's ever tasted! You both have amazing skills in the kitchen. Bravo 👏 Arielle your cheerfulness seemed to be in amazing rare form in this episode and it was super contagious I laughed or smiled the entire time. Can't wait so looking forward to seeing the next video.
I love to watch you guys live life. So young and inspiring. I am 77 years old and you always inspire me to walk or cook or just enjoy life. Life is good and you are life. Thank you
Thank you for putting the answer to the turkey joke in the description! I was worried you were going to leave us hanging! I clearly have very different taste than you - it’s not dessert unless it has chocolate. BUT, that pumpkin Bundt cake looked amazing! I love Eric’s excitement about food. His “oh my gosh” just cracks me up every time.
So amazing you're using the birch syrup and spruce tips for sweetener/seasoning. That makes these cinnamon rolls so much more unique, truly Alaskan. Hey do a recipe book.
Hi guys! I am originally from the Philippines, and in my country, we do flan with only egg yolks and we strain the mixture to make the flan smoother. :) Usually, 7 egg yolks, 1 can condensed milk, and 1 can evaporated milk. Maybe you can try that next time!! :) I really enjoyed this video. Thank you so much!!!!
My wife is from Mexico, and your flan recipe is spot on she also makes it with chocolate cake, they call it the impossible cake. To make the cake make your flan mix add it to the cake mix and bake till the cake is done (they will separate on Their own) the flip it out so you will have cake on the bottom and flan on top. I do believe she also has it in a water bath so the flan doesn't overcook.
For the silkiest flan, use Ricardo’s crème caramel recipe! I swear by it make it all the time, just made it this weekend. So silky, basically like a soft tofu. You’ll love it! The trick with his recipe is to heat the milk up to almost boiling but not boiling, temper the eggs with the milk and that’s the hardest part! Hope you enjoy it Ariel!
My mom grew up with chickens on the farm. She never lost the habit of cracking eggs into a separate bowl before adding to all those nice ingredients. Apparently it had to do with avoiding an unpleasant surprise that could ruin the good ingredients if added directly. You two are the least pretentious foodies I know. It’s all about a)your resources and b)the Yum. You are fearless because you understand the science underpinning fermentation and storage methods. And just overall, your cooking chops are top notch. Fun episode!
This is NOT what I needed to see at 11 pm but they ALL LOOK AMAZING…will have to try that twist on flan with the Creme cheese…thanks so much for sharing….for sure now ILL HAVE SWEET DREAMS…STAY BLESSED
Our favorite dessert suggestion: oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and a dash of cloves. I often make crepes. Usually just powdered sugar for filling --- tastes just like the funnel cakes at the fair. But I do love pumpkin spice cakes. I, also, have pureed pumpkin from fall, I freeze mostly.
Chocolate chip oatmeal cookies 1 stick butter, room temp 1/2 C brown sugar 1/4 C sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp vanilla 3/4 cup flour 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp ginger 1/4 tsp nutmeg Dash of cloves 1/4 tsp salt 1 1/2 C oatmeal Chocolate chips (1 cup???) Or seasonal colored M&M's Cream together sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients separately, then add to mix. 350F for 10-12 minutes. Yum!

You know I love it when you get in the kitchen, but tonight (1:00 am my time) was EPIC and hilarious! Five desserts! I'm making those Spudnuts! You never disappoint and I never know what to expect from one video to the next. You two are so much fun. xo Suzi
Love when Arielle was enjoying the first bite with dripping cinnamon roll in each hand! You had me at pumpkin Bundt cake. I need to make something pumpkin. What's a pig's favorite ice cream? Hoggin Daz. 😂
I would like to congratulate you as your videos are seen regularly by two thirds of your subscribers (or it looks like). The quality and subjects of your videos are the key to your success. I like that you don't put yourself 'intentionally' into entertainment position, it is very natural and agreeable to watch you on screen. Not many bloggers on UA-cam can say this as about their work. So good job. We like your authenticity!!! And one more time Thank you for making our lives better with your positive approach to everything!!!
I absolutely like the fact that you’re now puting the recipe on screen. Maybe you did it in the past but I don’t remember you doing that. Either way that’s a good thing. Always watching from Panama City Florida, USA. 🇺🇸. No Snow Just Breeze!
In Bangkok Thailand they make either a sweet( desert) crepe or a savory crepe. But they aren’t a traditional crepe, they are cooked longer kind of like a cookie but are an excellent product just different. Again I appreciate the recipe on screen. Always watching from Panama City Florida, USA. 🇺🇸. No Snow Just Breeze !
I'm diabetic ... I enjoyed the feeling of a coma coming on just watching this. My Mom made Cinnamon Rolls like this but she baked them in a sugar/butter/vanilla base in the oven. To me, that's the only thing I do differently. I'm gonna take a shot of insulin now :)
Wonderful video! I love how you included the written recipes on the screen. Your confidence with baking is amazing. The only ingredient I add without measuring is vanilla.
All the recipes looked amazing but the Pumpkin Bundt Cake looked A-MAZ-ZING! And the potato donuts sounded so fun to make! YUM! I feel it’s easy for us views to romanticise living in Alaska but I assume it’s A LOT of work! I’m so grateful for all the time and effort your put into your videos. Love your channel!!
Hey Alaskan, coolest UA-camrs, I was so freaking happy to see you guys post one of your cooking ads and knowing you're taking a break from all that outside snow blizzard, and thank you for posting all of the ingredients that you use.🥰❄️🐕🐕👍
We have a local donut shop that uses potatoes for all of their creations, and yes, you guessed it, the shop is called Spudnuts. I made Swedish donuts several years ago using leftover mashed potatoes, so good. Going to have to try your cinnamon rolls, they look delicious 😋
Cinnamon rolls are huge. Looks delicious. Everything looks amazing. I get so hungry watching y’all cook. Keep the videos coming. Love watching you two.
Between the two of you and these desserts look good, but everyone of your meals always looks good. You all amaze me in all the hard work you do. Thank you for sharing and God Bless.
Yeah a cooking video with you two! I must say those cinnamon rolls, the donuts, that bundt cake and the flan all looked amazing ❤ can’t wait to try them all. Love Eric’s enthusiasm eating each one and Arielle the jokes were too cute. ❤❤❤
Next time you make the donuts the best way to coat them is a brown paper bag. Just put sugar in and shake bag a couple donuts at a time , the whole donut gets covered also ground nuts and sugar is a great combo for these !!!
Every time I see a new video I say "Yes!". This is just what I needed today to lift my spirits. Thank you for sharing your yummy recipes and winter goodness. Lots of love!
Hi guys, the cinnamon rolls looked very yummi 😋 I made the same mistake: touched the caramel! It has been the worst burn I've ever had in the kitchen. Don't ever touch the caramel. 😉 Also, I would skip the cream cheese, in Mexico we don't make it like that traditionally, that recipe might be a variation, just skip it and you will get the silky texture. Great job on all the desserts. 🥰
Watching from Australia! I tied up my tomatoes to the top of their stakes this evening in just my bathers haha! I hope that brings a smile to your face thinking about the heat! Love watching your videos and keep up every week! I’ve been subscribed for years! Love you guys! 💖💖
Arielle's face on the cover is perfect 😍 y'all are such an inspiration and just so amazing love everything about you guys and the content you put out. I have been following you guys for a while and your videos never disappoint!!👍😁
I coaxed our local doughnut shop to make a few maple bacon bar's last year. One was a regular bar with the icing and one strip of bacon and the other was Bavarian filled and icing with two strips of bacon. They copied the voodoo shop in Oregon for me! It was really good, something about salty bacon and sweet go so well together!
I absolutely adore all of your content but my faves are probably the Q&A’s and “in the kitchens”. As always thank you for sharing a part of your lives with us!!! ❤
Hi, here's an easy flan from Portugal (no cream cheese): 1 can condensed milk, same measure of milk, 3 eggs. The sauce: 1 cup of sugar, half cup of water. First melt the sugar WITHOUT stirring (it will cristalize, as yours did) , and when it gets brown (don't let it too dark) put carefully the water, and mix on the stove until everything dissolves. Cover immediately the bottom of a pan, round it to cover partially the walls, let it cool. Mix well the other ingredients until smooth (I use the blender), put it in the pan and cover it with foil, closing well the edges. Bain-marie in the oven for 45 min. You will get a smooth flan, with a dripping sauce. If you want it in ramequins, I believe 25 min in the oven would be ok.
I've been making flan since I was a kid, we are from Spain. So simple advice, don't stir the sugar bcz it crystalizes and make it thicker... add 1 less egg w the cream cheese, Looks awesome guys!!
You guys really Kicked it up a notch! By adding the menu you have made your own cook book, Ye ha! Keep up the very diverse topics you two are kicking butt! Cheers….
One of the many, many things I love about your channel is the incredible photography. You manage to do the great outdoors, with drone shots of stunning scenery, loads of action of the work you do around your house and garden, information straight to camera and now…this, a really high quality cookery programme! Such talent, from each of you in turn. Huge respect! (Save me a bite of that iced bun please).
Enjoyed the video immensely! Great job as always.... Thank you! A little tip that I learned from the farmwives where I grew up is to always crack your eggs into a separate bowl before adding to a recipe.... just in case one isn't good or is spoiled. This keeps from spoiling the rest of the ingredients.
We do the Flan (my wife is Cuban). No cream cheese, 4 eggs, 1 can condensed, 1 can evaporated, dash of vanilla, 1/8 tsp of salt. Cooked in a 7” container. Put the container in a pan of water. Your recipes were great. I’m going to try the donuts! Thanks
Wonderful!!! I have enjoyed all the food’s you have made in your channel…I would definitely buy your cookbook/gardening/canning if you ever made one. Now which one to try out of these🤔…yummmmmm!!!!
Loved the fish eye Ariel, when Eric said it was the best doughnut he ever had in his life, gotta tell ya that bundt cake looked fantastic and I didn`t even try it, all the best to ya guys.
Just caught this on a snowy morning in upstate New York. The donuts look absolutely spectacular and Eric‘s commentary certainly encourages me to make them!
Great video guys. When I learned to make crepes at chef school, we had to be able to see a newspaper through them. Once you make the batter (traditionally made with milk). Add a couple of ounces of melted butter, drizzled into the mixture whilst you whisk it. It will make a huge difference to them.
A skillet chocolate chip cookie for 2 ! Or fried bread ( use your dread recipe then you let it rise and roll the dough out in circles - and fry in some tallow or butter and then flip - add butter and jam to the top. It’s a staple in this family and has been since we were little :)
I do appreciate seeing you guys just going with the flow of baking, cause I tend to do that myself. 75% of the time, it works out or I force myself to finish the monstrosities. The bundt cake looks amazing, salty and sweet is a great combination!
You guys are fab! Thanks for the inspo, you’ll be full for weeks 😂 holding you do more foody style videos over winter like you have in the past. Love your channel! You and @charlesdowding are my faves for 2023!
I adore you guys! I hope this is the beginning of many formal cooking shows and maybe a cookbook to follow? I would love to see a collection of your favorite meals, desserts, teas and canning. 😊
Hello ! I love how you guys work together you are one of my fav UA-cam couples. I’m from Puerto Rico and the basic flan we do is without the cream cheese that one we call it flan de queso. We also make coconut flan, guava flan and passion fruit flan. There are many variations like chocolate flan etc, I’m looking forward an Ariel’s flan creation ! Hugs from the Caribbean ❤
For cheese I put powder sugar, one yolk, and grated lemon zest ( like my grandma),maybe I will make some crepes today if I found farmers cheese ( lately I don't find). That was amazing video, God bless you guys, make me crave sweets.
Good to see you today. Those recipes look great. I think I’ll give those donuts a try. Thank you so much for sharing. Take care. Until the next time bye. Stay safe and warm✌️🇺🇸❤️

Arielle's eye roll at Eric when he got a little too excited about the donuts 😂

I think it was the, “That’s the best donut I’ve had in my whole life.” 😂

I've never seen cream cheese frosting cooked. It's just thawed to room temp than whipped with mixer and confectioner sugar. 😁
The coffee pot is an Italian Espresso maker. Love your videos!
The bundt cake was so beautiful and the cinnamon rolls were huge! Love it!
Great recipes, hope you will do a cookbook some day soon. Many thanks.
Cute little braid you have there, Ariel. Gives me real viking vibes 😄
Also those limed eggs look incredible for being 5 months old. Very impressive
I truly love your Outdoor Adventures and I also enjoy you're baking and cooking I truly love them all
Ariel's face reaction to that being his best donut ever was priceless ..😂
who would have thought this would be one of my favorite cooking channels, everything looked incredible
For the Asian side, we used Yam for making donuts. Yam donut is considered one of our traditional desserts/cakes.
You two make such a great couple. You work together so well!" The baked goods turned out so yummy looking. And your donuts turned out perfectly.😊
Chocolate icing on donuts, nuts in the pumpkin cake, and strawberry with the crepes. Just a difference. Yummm pour the extra sauce over the donuts.
I coaxed our local doughnut shop to make a few maple bacon bar's last year. One was a regular bar with the icing and one strip of bacon and the other was Bavarian filled and icing with two strips of bacon. They copied the voodoo shop in Oregon for me! It was really good, something about salty bacon and sweet go so well together!
two most notable things about the Voodoo Shop... the Texas doughnut and the line to get in
I absolutely adore all of your content but my faves are probably the Q&A’s and “in the kitchens”.
If you want it in ramequins, I believe 25 min in the oven would be ok.
those walnuts wouldve worked so well on/in that bundt cake. I love these videos so much. They're inspiring.
Eric’s actually hilarious. Everything he eats or tastes he always says “Its the best thing he’s ever tasted in his life” hahahaha
Love these dessert ideas! I will never waste my appetite on a store bough dessert. It has to be homemade with wholesome, real ingred!
Thank you. It's Ok, life is short, eat dessert first. God Bless and stay safe.
Simpatica signora, spontanea e brava.
It's an absolute joy watching your episodes.
Informative sure.
Interesting, you bet.
More than anything else though, it's a joy. Thank you!
Cooking with Ariel and Eric. Always a good time with good food. Alan
Donuts looked the best to me, all looked very good.
I watch ALL of your cooking Video's multiple times, you guy's are freaking AWESOMEEEE !!!!
Thanks
Thank you for sharing. Enjoy your winter. 💝
thought your savory foods, sandwiches, salads were awesome but now these desserts looks delicious... ❤👍👌😋. seems like you guys are all rounders❤
Thank you for the recipes and video! I appreciate yall more than you know! Have a Blessed Night!!
5 desserts in a row...I'm 10 pounds heavier but satisfied. Very good, love it when you're tasting what you have cooked.
I love that you put the recipes on the screen, easy screenshot ability!👌 Can't wait to attempt to make these delicious desserts, like tomorrow! :)
I adore you guys! I hope this is the beginning of many formal cooking shows and maybe a cookbook to follow? I would love to see a collection of your favorite meals, desserts, teas and canning. 😊
I feel a book comming on recipes from Alaska
I like cimmioom rolls flat and crispy. Like fried hubcaps, delicious.
🇵🇷 Puerto Rican Flan is Delicious!
For cheese I put powder sugar, one yolk, and grated lemon zest ( like my grandma),maybe I will make some crepes today if I found farmers cheese ( lately I don't find). That was amazing video, God bless you guys, make me crave sweets.
Your guys' sense of humor is the best 😂😂😂
Good to see you today. Those recipes look great. I think I’ll give those donuts a try. Thank you so much for sharing. Take care. Until the next time bye. Stay safe and warm✌️🇺🇸❤️
