just wanted to say thanks! i got my lasik after i saw this video from the same place with the groupon you suggested! its amazing having 20/20 vision for the first time!
I had lasik done 3 or 4 years ago and before I had it done I’d heard how the recovery was easy and you could see like the next day. Not true!!! The first month for me was awful, I was growing some extra cells along my flap in one eye, very painful, they stuck a contact bandage on it and it was ok after a couple weeks but scary. The halos at night took a full year to go away and the dryness as well. I was uncomfortable driving at night and avoided it whenever possible. If you asked me that first year, I don’t know if I would have recommended it, but now a few years later I definitely don’t regret it and I’m glad I had it done. Waking up every morning and being able to see from the second you open your eyes is an amazing feeling.
The main difference between PRK and Lasik is the process in which the cornea is dealt with - both ultimately achieving the same results. With Lasik, the first machine you mentioned uses suction and a laser to create a flap on the epithelial layer of the cornea (they used to use a blade for this before the laser was created). Usually this flap looks kind of like a C - it is then peeled back by the surgeon using a small tool (picture a grape and it’s skin being peeled back). They then will use the other laser ( the green dot you mentioned) to treat the exposed area beneath the flap for however many seconds you need to correct your prescription. The flap is smoothed back over the eye and the procedure is done . Now with PRK, the first laser isn’t needed. This option is usually used for people with thinner corneas. The surgeon will instead place a small circular metal ring(called a well) on the surface of the eye and fill the well with an alcohol based solution to help loosen the top layer of corneal cells. The surgeon then will remove the well and using other tools kind of “push” or move the cells aside, exposing the part of the eye to be corrected with the 2nd laser. After the 2nd laser, the surgeon will then move the cells back over the eye and place a bandage lens over the eye (think a contact lens without any prescription). This helps to promote the healing of the cornea and is usually removed after a week. Combined with the anti inflammatory and antibiotic drops and artificial tears the healing for PRK can take several months longer since you are waiting for those cells to regenerate and bind together again. Stability of vision improves along with the healing in both cases. These different steps and procedural practices of course can alter and change on a case by case basis so always ask your surgeon or his technicians if you have any questions. Everyone’s eyes are different so your experience may be different as well. In addition - Punctal plugs are pretty common practice after PRK and a lot of Lasik procedures as well. Many times it is not an additional cost and is included in the total amount that is charged of the patient - or if they are needed outside of a Lasik treatment, is covered by most insurances. Plugs come in different varieties - either designed to dissolve or fall out - longest are made to last about 6 months.
Wow amazing , I was thinking of doing Lasik surgery and your video appeared today!! Thanks you very much for sharing YB it was really very informative !! Lots of love and hugs to you!!
I started wearing glasses since third grade.... I’m blind AF without my glasses. I’ve been considering LASIK for a long time but the idea of having a surgery on my eye is still frightening to me 😢😢😢
I’be been wearing glasses since the 1st grade. I hate wearing glasses and contacts. I’ve done some research and it says they will numb your eye with eye drops so it won’t hurt.
I work for an eye doctor and I say if you can get lasik do it. Do not sleep in your contacts. Like DO NOT SLEEP IN THEM. I wear only colored non script ones and slept in them for a nap just once and it slipped to the back of my eye. Panic immediately set in lucky I blunk/blinked...I kept blinking and because colored contacts are larger than regular ones I could get mine out without having to see my doctor (how embarrassing). But the horror stories of my patients getting them out is not fun. Plus its itchy. Don't do it.
Thank you SO SO much for this video! I did a LASIK consultation and was not recommended because of the size of my cornea cells, but I'm researching PRK right now and the chances of me having 20/20 vision might still be a possibility. I'm so thankful for this video
Giant tip for anybody getting Lasik. I got it done and they have you take pain medication plus additional eye numbing stuff before surgery. only takes a few minutes to do lasik. After they give you medication for pain to take after a short period of time. DO NOT WAIT TOO LONG TO TAKE IT. I waited till I got home and was in excruciating, collapse on the floor crying/screaming pain until the meds kicked in.
Awesome video YB. I could have gotten lasik when I was in the US Air Force for FREE, but I did not do enough research and I always held myself back. Glad everything is going well for you after the surgery. God Bless!
Oh Groupon for lasik. Maybe I'll check it out. Price was always a big reason why I didn't even think about it, but compared to buying contacts for the rest of my life, might be a good investment
Hi YB~ loved your video and I would also recommend those considering lasik to go and get a consultation at least. My procedure was PRK and honestly i felt no pain but it was a longer process for my eyes to heal. The doctor does manually take off your corneal, but like you said because of the numbing it just feels like light pressure. After the procedure it took about a week for my eyes to start clearing up. Overall being able to see 20/20 was a process of 3/4 months. And in the end my vision is now 15/20. And i had mine done almost 2 years ago.
Thank you so much for this video! It doesn’t matter to me how much the eye surgery would cost, i would save up as much money as i need. I wear eye contacts since 1 year now and the imagination of not having a normal eyesight literally kills me everyday
I've been debating on Lasik for a long time as well but it sounds terrifying. It's really nice to hear your experience! It kind of brings a sense of relief, if that makes sense! I trust what you say :) Thanks for sharing!
Some of the things YB didn't experience/left out for people to note There are more than 2 kinds of vision correction procedure available, do read up on them to understand them on at least a surface level. Ultimately your decision should be made after a consultation with the doctors to see which one is best suited for your eyes. Each procedure has their pros and cons of course, go in with a open mind. In my country, they usually waive off the check up fees if you book the surgery at that date so please please please think about it carefully beforehand. Yes, your cornea can be too thin to undergo a second surgery if there is a need to as time pass and your cornea weakens. At that point you're stuck with glasses till you lose your sight if it ever happens. Unlike what YB said, personally i would strongly recommend you to have someone to bring you home after the procedure. Also, you'll be almost definitely on eye drops regularly for the next 2 to 3 months at least. It can go up by alot based on how your eyes adapts. Most importantly, what i see these procedure as is the chance to unfuck your sight at the cost of removing part of your cornea (sounds more painful than it is thanks to technology). So yes, you still need to take care of your eyes after the procedure unlike how you didn't in the past. P.S. personally recommend students (if you are lucky enough to not be working after 21 reasons mentioned by yb in the video) to just give up one of your holiday and do the procedure during it, best period to rest without worries imo.
Have a second consult in two weeks to hopefully clear me to do Lasik. I got a consult done in Newport Beach almost 3 months ago at a very popular place I found also on groupon and yelp. They ran all the scans and said one area of my cornea showed concern cuz of thinness whatever. They said come back in 3 months, redo the scan and if nothing changes, you are good to go for lasik. I'm not even too blind, -2.3 but I've never worn contacts in my life and only wear glasses to drive.
xlegendaryfashionx does the dry eye feeling eventually go away? I read and article where a lady committed suicide after getting lasik bc she couldn’t handle her dry eyes. She said it felt like being stabbed by a thousand knives constantly 😬
Thanks for this video! I've been thinking about getting Lasik surgery for a while now but was always scared because of the lack of information. I am going to set up a consultation in the near future
Omg. Our prescription is nearly the same. I had a lazy eye and they mentioned I needed to wear an eye patch to school (arrhhahah) We have a place here in Australia called Bailey Nelson and Oscar Wylee. Often we have special deal Eg. 2 pairs for 199.00. Which is totally a bargain. But for special people like you and me we require higher labour which result to higher costs. Sigh haha. Thanks for sharing your experience. It keeps me and the public in the know of what to expect. Still a little nervous though, eeek! xx
I appreciate you making this video. Thanks for this info. I read an article today stating people committed suicide because their lasik wasnt going so well afterwards. Im having it done in Feb next year. Im going through with it because I swim alot and play basketball and travel and alot of other things not being able to see to good is really frustrating. You are very pretty by the way 😍
Hi! I did Lasik a week ago, everything went well and I'm using artificial tears to hydrate my eyes. I've to say the main concern I have is not about dry eyes but mainly the fact that with my right eye I see gradient borders, especially when there are letters at TV or windows borders. It seems like borders are not defined and a little blurry. It happens only with my right eye... it's kind of frustrating. I hope it will get better 🤞🏻
@@marcusmoore2942 no, I had to do PTK, another surgery procedure (laser) and everything fixed (only on my right eye). It was because my epithelial layer didn't grow well so I had to start again and make sure that it grew better. But my problem was something I perceived a lot, it wasn't just a little bit of gradient borders. It was like I had to wear glasses again on that eye.
I’m 19 and I’m getting lasik this Thursday. I’ve been wearing glasses for 9 years and I’m just tired of them and the ones I currently have are outdated and I’m starting to squint while wearing my glasses. I don’t want to have to get new lenses or whole new glasses I rather just get them permanently fixed and save the money that I would have to spend in the future on lenses and frames and the different features you can get on glasses which I usually get like anti glare and transitioning lenses etc. So my glasses really go up in price especially because I don’t have any vision insurance or anything so I pay out of pocket. I’m really excited and even if you aren’t 22 or in whatever age bracket she said if you’re able to get it done I say go for it. Your eyes really aren’t going to develop much more up until 21 or 22 so getting it should be no problem.
Terrified to ask this, but you have to stare at the green dot right? So what happens if your vision flickers or if you get distracted? Also how long was the surgery itself? Thank you so much
It sounds so scary. I'm 24 and my eyes still haven't stabilized. I'm -9 in both and still getting worse each year. And I have an astigmatism and dry eye. I'm just now trying restasis. I'd love not having to wear contacts or glasses and not worry about paying for them. Lasik just sounds so scary. I already have halos at night and of the traffic lights at all hours and am scared to drive at night so I can't imagine it getting worse. I wish I could have lasik, though! I can't even imagine what it would be like to wake up and see or shower or put makeup on without putting in contacts and still be able to see. My eyes have been bad since I was starting elementary school so I don't have any memory of not needing glasses. The eye stuff takes a huge backseat to my chronic pain and I'd rather wake up not in pain but that's not possible. I'm not sure my vision will ever stabilize though so I doubt lasik will ever be a viable choice for me either, Groupon or not. Wow.
I would go and get the free consultation to see what is a possible option for you! Doesn't hurt to check. and i promise you it's not as scary as you think! I felt the same way. :)
This inspires me to get LASIK one day. Thanks for the video, it was very informative 😊 Also, your skin is so clear and beautiful!!! Can you do a video on your skincare routine please? 🤗
They arent permanent, they act to prevent the drainage of the tears through the punctum. By preventing this, it allows tears to accumulate in the eye and keep it 'moist'
they apparently fall out/dissolve by themselves in 3 months! you don't feel them at all, but I think they do the job because I've been pretty bad at putting eye drops in (I should do it more often lol) but I haven't had any dry eye problems!
I somehow feel relieved to hear that they dissolve by themselves and you don't feel a thing having them in the tear duct. Maybe because I imagined that it might be uncomfortable having something stuck in my eye.
i had mine 2 weeks ago. when i try to game or am on the computer for a long period of time i cant stop blinking and i see blurry spots sometimes. will this wear off?
Ugh the cost of contact lenses. I have monthly ones which are cheaper than daily but still. I wish I had that bad of a sight....I have "grandma eyes" aka high prescription with both eyes different.(contact lenses are -9.00 and -9.50....extreme nearsighted) I want to get lasic or eye surgery but my fear is something going wrong at this "young"age (I'm in my 20s which is young right...) That is my biggest fear with it. Reason for wanting the surgery is because if I have no glasses or contacts on, my vision is so blurred and being active I want one less thing to worry about. For one I also want to go swim without having fear of losing my vision. Also cost of contacts. Bright side I never on purpose slept in contacts..the times I have were plane flights, car, trains rides and from sheer exhaustion. Question:are you allowed to bring something in the room? For instance something to squeeze. Whenever I have injections or blood drawn I like to squeeze something in the opposite hand as a coping mechanism.usually it's tissue.
Wow I've not met anyone with worse vision than me! I'm extremely nearsughted too, I'm like - 4.5 and - 4.75 but 8 know my eyes have got worse recently. I want to get contacts or laser eye surgery
I JUST DID MY LASIK TODAY!! because of your video and you telling me how Your experience was, I got the confidence to do it! Thanks YB! GOOOO DUMPSTER DIVAS!
Thank you so much for this video it was very informative I have been considering getting one but it just seems so scary just thinking about it I feel a whole lot better now seriously thank you!!!!!!!
Not sleeping in contacts meaning day contacts correct...? Because I wear night contacts and I have to sleep with them in and I’m not sure if this applies to what you said >~
@@YBChangOfficial Thanks so much for the response YB! It's been 10 days after my surgery, but I'm still scared to apply and remove eye makeup :/ How did you apply and remove eyeshadow/mascara/eyeliner without rubbing your eyes or harming the flap?
This is motovating me to save up for Lasik... im 14 but i dont like wearing glasses, this video helped me so much to understand lasik, i want to do it when im 25 👏
Thank you for the sharing your experience. Can you please tell the difference in the starburts at night after two months now in comparison to what they were after first month? And also halos around lights? Has your vision completely stabilized now or if it still becomes fuzzy sometimes.
It's been 3 months now (recorded this early LOL) and I would say my vision has pretty much stabilized! The night vision is still a little glowy but not to the point that it bothers me. It definitely gets less and less as the time goes :)
Thanks for sharing. I'm planning to do lasik surgery coz I'm legally blind. Hopefully it works and I'm still a candidate to do lasik. I have been wearing glasses since i was in 5th grade soo yeah I'm pretty much done wearing contacts ans glasses
I would not skimp on price with my eyes. From what I understand the cheaper surgery is more likely to cause halos. I am planning on the allegretto laser machine
How many weeks did you have to wait to wear makeup? Also when you wash your face or showered did you also have to wait two weeks for that and how did you do it?
I had it done almost two weeks ago- omg so worth it! I am still so nervous about rubbing my eyes. I had astigmatism in both eyes, which is why I didn’t like contacts, but I didn’t want glasses either so I went for it. So glad I did!
Do they put the tear duct plugs in on the day of the surgery or when you have a check up, and does it feel weird getting the plugs? I'm thinking about getting lasik it sounds like a really good procedure, just wondering about that.
ugh so look im 15 and have about 6,25 something and it’s only getting worse, not only that my right eye is “crooked” and the only thing (ok maybe not the only thing) is that I literally can’t hold my eye open for more than 8 seconds lol and they get really dry hejskdnalqlakakskks I’m scared
It's ok you still have a few years to go! 😉 your eyes will stabilize as you get older, and they use that plastic thing to hold your eye open so you can't even blink if you wanted to! LOL but it's really not scary if I did it you can too :)
Did you had trouble driving at night before your lasik surgery bc I’ve been wearing glasses/contacts for almost 5-6 years and whenever I drive at night, I see the halo effect and everything is blurry and uncomfortable, so I only drive whenever I have too if it cannot wait.
I don't think I had trouble before the surgery! You should bring it up to your doctor if you decide to do the surgery and they can give you some tips, I think also the blurriness can be caused by dry eyes so eyedrops might help :)
Hi YB I love your UA-cam channel and I just wanted to say that your makeup and hair are really gorgeous and also I love the pink top that you have on in this video, but all your clothes you wear look amazing anyway
Hey ,so I got lasik about 5 days ago and I'm just curious, how long after you got yours did you start watching tv/phone/table that sorta stuff ?I spent a lot of money and I want to do all I can to make sure it heals properly.
I'm still debating if I need to do this too lol

Your eyes really aren’t going to develop much more up until 21 or 22 so getting it should be no problem.
hope it went well!!
Terrified to ask this, but you have to stare at the green dot right? So what happens if your vision flickers or if you get distracted? Also how long was the surgery itself? Thank you so much
Alyssa Gosteli I heard that the laser tracks your iris or pupil movement. I heard it in some other video I watched but not sure.
i tried my best to focus!! haha the surgery itself was only 5ish minutes :)
Thank you both!! I appreciate your answers
Alyssa Gosteli it tracks your eye movement so it’s not a problem at all! I just recently had it done and it was perfectly fine
@@franchfri9 that's so wild! thanks for the info!
Super good video! :) I'm 20 this year, and I think my eyes have yet to stabilize. But thanks for sharing ^^ I might consider it in future hmmm...
This was really useful! Definitely helped out with a lot of the concerns I had about getting LASIK done. 😊
Same but with PRK. Hella worth it. UHD vision feels good
I'm definitely getting LASIK when I'm going to be 21ishh years old. Glasses are really annoying.
Thank you for this- I am getting it done at the end of the month and I am starting to feel nervous
Love your channel YB!
I just had a femto lasik surgery last week. I still feel blurry in my right eye. Worried 😟
How are you now
Thank you for posting~ it's nice to see you smile :)
im scared of those punctal plugs though, do they remove them after the process?
they disappear on their own :)
woah~ they disappear?! how long did it take for yours to disappear?
I've been contemplating getting the surgery for a while. Now i'm convinced!
라식 엄청 고민하고있었는데 너무 좋은 정보 올려주셔서 감사해용!!!
This isn’t related but your voice is so nice to listen to you should voice audiobooks
This inspires me to get LASIK one day. Thanks for the video, it was very informative 😊 Also, your skin is so clear and beautiful!!! Can you do a video on your skincare routine please? 🤗
ahhh i miss my 20/20 vision. My eyes started to get blurry when i turned 23.
are the tear plugs permanently stuck in the eye duct or do they remove them after some time? Do they really help keep the eyes moist?
Omg you’re so lucky for getting it on groupon !
Ugh the cost of contact lenses. I have monthly ones which are cheaper than daily but still.
I wish I had that bad of a sight....I have "grandma eyes" aka high prescription with both eyes different.(contact lenses are -9.00 and -9.50....extreme nearsighted)
I want to get lasic or eye surgery but my fear is something going wrong at this "young"age (I'm in my 20s which is young right...) That is my biggest fear with it.
I'm sure they would let you!!
How’s it now
Thank you so much for this video it was very informative I have been considering getting one but it just seems so scary just thinking about it I feel a whole lot better now seriously thank you!!!!!!!
Not sleeping in contacts meaning day contacts correct...? Because I wear night contacts and I have to sleep with them in and I’m not sure if this applies to what you said >~
Thanks YB! Did you wear eye makeup after the first week?
yep!! hehe
@@YBChangOfficial Thanks so much for the response YB! It's been 10 days after my surgery, but I'm still scared to apply and remove eye makeup :/ How did you apply and remove eyeshadow/mascara/eyeliner without rubbing your eyes or harming the flap?
Damn.. The night halos are the biggest problem for me as we only see night for almost 6 months straight. Winter months are hell for the north :(
Lander Acosta indeed- it’s why I got mine done in the spring- less dry too!
Thank you for your advice and now that you have given me your advice I will now think about getting the surgery.
I love you YB!!❤️😘
This is motovating me to save up for Lasik... im 14 but i dont like wearing glasses, this video helped me so much to understand lasik, i want to do it when im 25 👏
I am 5 days after lasik surgery and still see glares at night around lights. Have you had the same experience? How long before it disappeared?
How bad was the burning smell? I think that might be the part i'm most nervous about since i'm really sensitive to smells.
Did you see any halo and starbust at night ? What surgery did you opt ? Lasik or smile?
Is this video sponsor by LASIK vision institute ?
no but THEY SHOULD
@@YBChangOfficial can you please share which type of LASIK you choose? SMILE, LASIK or PRK? Thanks.
@@MomoDeMono Only Lasik. She said that PRK is different and the doctor needs to see if you are suitable for it or not.
So do u still see halos or do u still ignore them
I would not skimp on price with my eyes. From what I understand the cheaper surgery is more likely to cause halos. I am planning on the allegretto laser machine
still good 5 years later?
If I get it done this week do u think I'll be able to go to Disney world next week
Lasik is not permanent tho so when are you going to get it redone or has there been a change
I was so scared of lasik but watching this made me feel better , so the thing that shaves the cornea doesn’t hurt?
nope! :)
How many weeks did you have to wait to wear makeup? Also when you wash your face or showered did you also have to wait two weeks for that and how did you do it?
I’m 18, my eyesight keeps deteriorating and it’s affecting my school work :( I really want to get this surgery
you should!! by the time you're ready (in your early 20s) the technology will be way better too :)
Hello, how do I get to locate the hospital?
Do you still have hallow lights & How has ur night vision doing ? Please update me
Could this Surgery mildly fix colorblindness or help it?
im not sure! you could ask at the consultation :)
What kind of drops did you use after the surgery? Did you have to use the ones they prescribed to take a few days before the surgery?
they prescribe you different ones for before AND after the surgery! :)
I had it done almost two weeks ago- omg so worth it! I am still so nervous about rubbing my eyes. I had astigmatism in both eyes, which is why I didn’t like contacts, but I didn’t want glasses either so I went for it. So glad I did!
Would totally try this but naturally blind from a tumor 😢
im sorry :( ❤️❤️
How was the process for the punctal plug insertion? What did you feel? Did it cure dryness or you're at the same level before surgery?
It was so quick I didn't even feel it! They just lightly touched my eye and that was it haha. and yes it definitely kept my eyes moisturized!
You're really pretty!
I have laser eyes surgery and do it hurt because I want know and so please let me know and also I want know I am do laser eye surgery at age 18
Great video, YB!
Did you get the Groupon after having your consultation or after?
after!
YB YOU ARE PERFECT
Thank you for sharing, this is so informative!!
Please reply me I have a question.
After laser if you watch tv and phone, will the glasses again come?
ㅎㅎㅎ! YB your so pretty! And so talented!!
Is it younger the better for Lasik? What if I am in mid-40?
I think younger the better yes but my dad got it in his 50s!
Love you sooo much ❤️❤️
