Just had my lasik done today. Absolutely 0 pain during the procedure just a bit uncomfortable and nervous. Yeah...it'll be 2 weeks for me since I had lasik done and so far, so good for me. Only thing is, my up close vision is still a little wonky as it's still stabilizing but each day, my vision is getting better as far as seeing up close and smaller print. How is your vision seeing things up close and reading small print? Right now, I wouldn't be able to see if an lash was stuck in my eye..Lol! But so happy that I pulled the trigger on getting lasik. Being able to see everything with nothing on my face is definitely life-changing!
I checked the screening yesterday. - 7.55 left, -5.00 right. I am deeply saddened, the thickness of my cornea is still not sufficient for LASIK procedures. And I am 17 years 9 months old. What I feel, is just 😔😔😔... Don't forget to be grateful if you have healthy eyes.
Don't worry..... Join Jake Steiners end myopia...... See if it works .....don't lose hope... Make your eyesight better by yourself...... Obviously it will take time..... But still see... And if it not works... Then directly go to ICL surgery..... It's better than lasik and obviously you are suitable.. Candidate for ICL...... Lasik is good if you have luck.... Otherwise don't damage your eyes permanat....... 🙃

Thank you for your story. I used to be -8.00 in both eyes with astigmatism in both. I got turned down twice for LASIK. I just recently went back to the first doc I saw on my first consultation who told me years ago ( about 15 or 20 ago) that my corneas were too thin and my prescription was outside of the scope of what the lasers could correct. The Dr. Told me to come back because the technology is always getting better. I just went on Wed and got approved for LASIK and my prescription is now -6.50 and -7.00 with only a slight astigmatism. One thing I will tell anyone who is getting a consultation is if you wear soft contacts, do not wear them for at least 3-4 weeks before the appointment . If you don’t wear your contacts, the cornea will go back to it’s normal thickness and shape so the doctor will be able to see the exact thickness of your cornea. This is what I did differently and what helped with getting approved.
I have no stigmatism and -6.0 in each side, due to having thinner cornea and higher prescription they will due prk instead of lasik. Longer recovery, but grateful I still have an option.
@@iinnn2363 20/15 a year ago then 20/10 this time only missing 2 letters on the 20/10 line. 20/15 and 20/10 are both better than 20/20 and I can see details that I have never been able to see before.
@@KellaLily I was told I could only get PRK a long time ago but I held out and tried more doctors. One doctor told me I couldn’t get Smile surgery and told me to replace my lenses in my eyes with intraocular lenses which is cataract surgery! He also told me it would cost $15,000 not covered by insurance and that I was developing a cataract. My LASIK cost $4350 and I financed it through Alphaeon. I would go to a few more consultations after leaving contacts out ( if you wear them) for about 3-4 weeks and then see what they say. I will tell you that when you get older and can’t see up close, your distance prescription gets better so less tissue has to be removed from your cornea. I still wear readers for close vision but even that has improved since LASIK. I’m 54 so I am ok w readers because I already wore them before I got surgery. It will be 2 years in June and I would do it again 1000%
@@Rap111unzel thanks for your advice. I wore my glasses for 4 weeks prior to the consultation and another consultation is going to happen prior to surgery day. At least they charge the same amount for prk as Lasik with the clinic I'm going to work with. You can have less issues with dry eye in the long run with prk, so I'm looking at that as a silver lining to the longer recovery since I already have minor dryness. I'm in my early 30s and hoping to get at least 10 years prior to needing reading glasses. My mom got her correction while removing her cataracts she didn't regret not getting reader inserts (her brother got them), I guess they cost quite a bit extra and there can still be complications with them, wearing reading glasses doesn't bother her too much, it's nice to wake up and be able to see.
I got laser eye surgery 5 months ago and I do not regret it after wearing glasses for 9 years xD For some reason my eyes were watering the whole surgery because I couldn’t blink. Oof :/
Wow -7.25 is a high prescription. Glad they could fix it and nice to see someone my own age getting surgery. I had a consult in 2018 but they said to wait 18 months. Can't wait to go back and see if I'm eligible. My prescription's pretty bad too; not the prescription itself, but the difference between the 2 eyes. One of my eyes is +3.75 and the other is -2.50

You’re so welcome!! I’m so glad I could help share a little insight 🥰 it was quite traumatising but if you’re unsure I’d ask to book a consultation and then see how you feel ❤️
It went really well. It was actually painless for me. The only thing I felt was the pressure on my eyes like pushing on your eyelid with your finger. And eyes felt dry after wards. I'm glad I did it. The anxiety was the worst part of it, even laying there before they started thinking it would be so bad but it really wasnt

@@Mahta444 Yes!! I did in in the middle of January - and I can see perfectly I can't even believe it!! 😁 The procedure was not a bad experience for me, it was rather uncomfortable, but I wouldn't say it hurt. The next 3 days were also weird (itchy, dry eyes) but after a week it got to almost not noticeable. Now all I feel is that my eyes are still dry but they said it is normal and will go away. I urge everyone to go through with it given the opporunity!! 👀
Ahh no Shirley!! That wasn’t the plan haha ☺️✨ the surgery wasn’t painful or bad because of my prescription but just because of my slight phobia of things touching my eye really haha - I’m sure it would be a breeze for you!
That’s me sold on this now. The clamps don’t seem too bad. I’ve never really had an issue with touching my eye and other people touching it, so I don’t think it will be traumatic for me. Now it’s just about saving up money so I can get the procedure done.
Hello! Thank you so much for this video, it gave people like me with high myopia more hope :,) but I wanted to know, how stable was your eyesight prior? because 21 seems quite young and although its different for everyone what age you eyes become stabilized I’m not quite sure what “stabilized” means exactly? Could you help explain?
Ok so first of all, this video popping up on my feed reminded me of wanting laser eye surgery, kinda freaks me out with the clamp etc although everyone says it's not painful etc but I've had enough surgeries ( ear, tonsillectomy and toe surgery) so i feel like i should survive this LOL , also got my eye number and little piece of metal taken out of it😂our prescription is similar and I can't even imagine being able to see without the annoyance of glasses.. Kinda worried about the eye dryness tbh, when you mentioned in the video " grit in your eyes" that reminded me of that exact feeling i used to get when I did several 12 hr night shifts at work my eyes got so dry it felt like SAND in them🥲 but anyways! thank you for this video honey I should really just get a consultation asap when Covid clears up a bit and get my eyeballs sorted LOL xx much love 😘😘
The clamp for me was far worse than the grit in my eyes but it sounds like you might have dryer eyes than me so might be higher risk of getting dry eyes - although tbf staring at a computer for 12 hours sounds hard!! If you’re unsure I’d recommend maybe getting a consultation and seeing what they say - they’re more likely to say yes than no because they want business but I’d say it would give you a good insight into the surgery ❤️🥰
@@meiyingchow My 12 hour night shifts were in a nursing home so no computer thank goodness! just having to have my eyes open to extra 12 hrs when I should be sleeping must be why they dried out so much but you're right, I hope it's not the case about the dryness and I can still get it omg🥺 thank you for you reply😘
Randomly talked with my mom about the topic of eye surgery, and I thought about it today and looked up some videos. So thanks for talking about it! My eyes are similar to yours,so this is super interesting to me. ~-8 with astigmatism, been wearing glasses for a long time too. However the idea of surgery isn't really appealing to me. I needed surgery for my strabismus as a young teen already and that experience was a little traumatic for me. Like. It worked and I got to miss a maths test. But I had many sensory issues while recovering,my eye felt sooo gross, and the anaesthetic knocked me out for say longer than expected for an outpatient procedure.... Like sure,if I could magically have great vision? I might risk it. But the thought of getting another eye procedure is already scaring me lol
I’m over here with -5 in my right eye and -3 in my left at 13 told it’s going to get worse as I get older and I’m watching this because my mom said in the future I might get laser eye surgery. I got glasses when I was 5.
I went for a consultation and since I am 19, have a higher prescription (-8/-7) and i also have a thin cornea. i am not a candidate right now but they told me to wait until i am 21 too see signs of relative stabilization. I am so sad. Were your corneas on the thinner side too? 💗
Yes I do. I feel great. I was seeing immediately after surgery. The first few hours after surgery are a bit uncomfortable. Feels like sand in the eyes. But honestly I’m seeing 20/20. I’d do it all over again. 0 pain. It was however 3600$usd

Was honestly shocked when they said it was done and how quick it was. I “was” shortsighted 😜
If anyone is considering getting laser eye surgery, please, please think very carefully. The fact is laser eye surgery is extremely dangerous. I've had it done myself and it has ruined my life. Years on, my vision is the worst it has ever been and I am still in pain. In fact, most people who have told me they have had it done, have also had some kinds of problems, many of them serious and life-changing. It would appear that problems are the norm, rather than the exception. I’m not saying don’t get surgery, but tread carefully and take anything you are told by the companies with a pinch of salt. The industry is unregulated and these companies take advantage of this, ignoring recommendations laid down by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. If you are still tempted, make sure you seek advice from an independent optometrist or ophthalmologist.
Thank you for being so descriptive! I'm actually getting my laser eye surgery this Friday. Question, I wonder if this had anything to do with your pain and the clamps on your eyes. Did they give you xanax, or any kind of meds to calm you down prior to the surgery? They're giving me xanax, I hope that helps with the fear of the clamps being in your eyes. I'm not so good with pain, it kind of scared me you said it was worse than your ACL surgery!
@@armandosoria7993 for me super super easy. Antibiotic eye drops 2 times a day for a week and then normal eye drops every 30-60min for around 3-4 weeks. Had 0 pain as well. 100% recommend getting this done if you can afford it and find someone reliable.

My doctor said that you need to be 18minimum, plus you should also have stable eye power for at least 1yr, so i guess 19, as you need to have 1yr of stable eye vision or power, some doctors also recommend a 2yr stable vision, that's why so many doctors say getting a lasik between 20-40.

I wouldn't worry about this procedure at all and definitely wouldn't compare it at all to an ACL surgery!
How much time will it take for the procedure to complete
@@muhammedbasheer5083 I was given some valium so I don't have a great memory of time passing but I would say the entire thing took maybe an hour and a half

Hello, have you tried looking at PRK?
Don't worry..... Join Jake Steiners end myopia...... See if it works .....don't lose hope... Make your eyesight better by yourself...... Obviously it will take time..... But still see...
And if it not works... Then directly go to ICL surgery..... It's better than lasik and obviously you are suitable.. Candidate for ICL...... Lasik is good if you have luck.... Otherwise don't damage your eyes permanat....... 🙃

@omarmiah3186 definitely not the day after. Your eyes will continue to adjust for a few months. You can see quite well a day or 2 after, though.

It was one of my goals too! I really hope your consultation goes well and my fingers are crossed 🤞🏼
Update?
so what happend????
What's your eye grade after lasik? Did you get 20/20?
Oof :/

Great question! My optician said my prescription had to be stable for 2+ years. So it couldn’t change from the past year!
Haha i got one done just recently as well - the eyedrops was the worst during my examinations as well!! It lasted more than a full day for me.

You can’t wear contacts for two weeks prior to the surgery but I used to wear contacts a lot yes! ☺️✨
Are your eyes still sensitive to the light?
Nope not any more!! I’m all back to normal ✨
In scared of this surgery but i want to beable to explore the world without worrying about my glasses
I'm so close to deciding if I should do it. Wearing glasses almost 20 years now. I'm short sighted. Like everyone, I'm super nervous about the operation if I'm suitable. Hate wearing glasses, always take them off for a photo and sometimes on nights out. Drunk and no glasses = disaster. Encourage me to do this please 🤣
Was not suitable for surgery, devastated!!
@@alanfisher7108 Hi, have you tried looking at PRK?
@@alanfisher7108 why were u not suitable?
@@alanfisher7108 i guess you either might have a eye power higher of -6/+6 or either your eyes are way too dry, in that case you should get a prk
@@mayankkumar4161 One of the main reasons some people may not be candidates for lasik is because the thin-ness of their cornea. Your cornea has to be fairly thick. But I'm sure there's many other reasons.
How are your eyes now ?Great video very informative
Wow. You are a strong woman. The surgery would be a no for me. (even though I couldn't afford it anyway 🤣) I don't want to feel that type of pain. Lord bless your soul.
