I think we should accept this offer. Even though some companies are developing sodium ion battery technology, it seems they won't be able to manufacture in massive quantities before 2028-29. So for now it seems a good deal. Also our dependence on Chinese batteries will reduce significantly if this exploited lithium is used to make home grown batteries.
And with the Indian made Li-ion, Li-poly batteries, countries in the middle to low income countries or low GDP per capita would also benifit as the quality of these batteries will be better than their Chinese alternative.
This is a very tempting offer as we are pushing towards a green India. Lithium can prove to be a game changer for us. I think government should fairly weigh this offer.
