The addition of African union in g20 hosted by india is actually the biggest stamp on our relationship.

It was Indian metallurgists that discovered gold/diamond deposits and started mining them 1000 years ago when we started to import them from the tribes without enslaving thrm for it!!
Prices for gold had sky rocketed in India at the time and the deposits were much less hence new sources needed to be discovered

South Africa 🇿🇦 has always been part of the G20..the only African country
The administrative class in many African countries has been Indian for decades. Africas main problem is infrastructure for transport and power. Help them with that and it will make a difference. Money that went to Africa in the 1970ies went to dictators and weapons as part of the cold war. Lets not make that mistake again.
I'm Nigerian and I see the areas of synergy long term being largely geopolitical and cultural but not economic/FDI (outside of agriculture/commodities trading). The spaces in which Indian corporates want to access the Nigerian market are spaces in which there are already sufficient local players or projections for domestic entities. So it wouldn't be mutually beneficial any more than it would be if Nigerian corporates accessed the Indian market. Moreover, it would be ideal for countries like South Africa and Nigeria that have large domestic corporates to expand intra-continentally to other African countries in lieu of Asian or European corporates.

In the recent years I am seeing a trend where strange ideas have been thrust on India's foreign policy but Indians themselves don't seem to be involved in it :
1. Idea of "Indo-Pacific" - a completely new term which has popped out of nowhere
2. Leadership of the Global South -
It's a huge part of the world and India is not in a position to take this role
And now this one. Africa is another huge continent and it is highly disunited on the basis of various dimensions like language, tribe, religion and geography. It has never had any sense of unity ever. Africans don't have anything in common.
