English Translation: It was during monsoon season. A white woman came to my tea stall with her son, and wanted to buy tea. I serve tea in two cup sizes - Small for 100 NPR; Large for 150 NPR. She said, “I prefer to drink in my own cup.” Which was three times the size of the small size I sell. She said "OK", and once I served the tea in her cup, she started drinking. Then she asked for the price of the tea, to which I said 150 NPR as she had more tea than the Large cup I sell. She then started haggling and complaining, and started abusing me. I tried to explain the challenges of operating a tea stall in the high Himalayas and how expensive it is to get goods up here. But she wasn’t interested in either listening or even wanting to understand. She literally threw money on the ground for me to pick up and continued her disparaging behaviour. Also, she took pictures of my tea stall and threatened to post on social media and report to local police. I requested her to not do so as it would hurt my business, and asked her to delete the photos of my private stall she had taken. But then, shockingly, the lady took out a Swiss army knife and started pointing towards me. At this point she and her son began to head out. I felt extremely disrespected for having money thrown at me to pick up, and was treated unfairly just because we're poor hill people, and depend on tourists for our survival. The tourist edited footage from her GoPro to only show me chasing after her instead of showing the full interaction of her misbehaving and treating me disrespectfully in my tea stall. I deal with foreign tourists all the time. If I was genuinely at fault, there would be hundreds of videos of me on UA-cam mistreating tourists. I'd like to ask the public to understand that we're poor village folk, but also understand when a foreigner shows up wanting to either take advantage of our situation or mistreat us because they think they're somehow 'superior'.
I worked in Nepal for 3 years as an Assistant Professor of Kathmandu University, and I can tell you the hill people are more hospitable and humble than those of Kathmandu
I went to this lady's tea stall in the end of 2019. She and her husband were very friendly and nice to us. We spent some time sitting on her chairs and chilling...
As of August 2020, 150 NPR is 1.25 USD and 0.95 GBP. This woman pulled a knife over 31p. The true value of her drink according to the Nepali business owner's prices and estimation of her cup size was 1.91 GBP. As of June of last year (2019), a large drink from Starbucks is 2.60 GBP. Just so we're clear.
Nepalese are some of the most hardworking and honest people I've ever seen. That British lady should spend a day in her shoe and see how she would react if someone came and started disrespecting you for a cup of tea.
We all know the Karen is lying. Why would you think she would ok with you throwing money on the ground for her to pick up? And Karen still thought this woman would serve her? Karen learned 2 lessons that day... 1. Don't let the age fool you, that woman was on your ass coming around that mountain! 😂 And Karen is 35. 2. Respect people when you visit their country, your privilege and child like antics are not seen as cute everywhere.
She is totally right. We all know the effort, cost and time that takes to supply the basic goods in these kind of region. And if she can buy a mineral water for more than a £ why can't she pay a £.
My flank broke into 2 pieces during the fight. I took both and chased after her, who had a swiss knife in her hand by that time. //REAL STORY// Two sized tea to sell, tourist lady felt like the price was too high, nevertheless, she ordered the tea and after drinking, she threw the money on the floor for the Sherpa woman to pick up. As the tourist lady started taking pictures of the sign board of her tea shop, the Sherpa woman decided to get the tourist to stop her and she pulled her away from the door and then the tourist woman pushed her back in retaliation and came at the Sherpa woman with an automatic sorta knife( previously she said swiss knife, who is she to know any better? ) and lashed out at the Sherpa woman who then rushed into her shop to get a wooden plank to fight back. When she came out, the woman was still trying to take pictures from a distance with her camera. To save herself from bad publicity, she decided to chase the tourist lady further down the road. She even says she therw a fist sized stone which hit the Briton on her hips below her butt. And as she chased her further away from the hotel, the tourist lady got tired and sat on a stone apologising. And thats it! ( My thoughts :: I feel sorry for the kid, had everything gone well, he would be playing with that Sherpa lady. I also want to point out that 100, 150 for tea in high altitudes is not something to bargain over unless u are buying tea in huge bulk. That Sherpa lady had to close her shop for 15 days due to police as stated in her other videos. I have not seen any video from the British lady defending her act so far. I would like to hear her side of the story too.)

We actually dont care if the forenigner did bring a knife.but the whole world knows When you are in Rome, be like Romans. It is admittable to see how this place is topologically, geographically cursed to import the daily rasons. This video should be made viral with english subtitle.
SOME FOREIGNERS COME FOR TREKKING AND they are fennyfisted actually. They should see how people struggle on such high altitude with least resources and has to walk miles to get anything. These people opeNed the stall to provide nourishment as well as some rest to the trekkers but then also some trekkers try to become over smart and ask for concession lol.

Rodney Robinson she’s bullshitting man, look up the tourists side of the story and see how ridiculous this lady’s claims are, like who the fuck would pull a knife out on a local when in foreign land lol? The nepali lady is a brute and dangerous.
She was trying say that transportation are not available in her area .so it's not easy transport sugar ,tea etc. She used to transport foodstuffs with horses because this are is very rural area that's all things she was trying explain that foreigners that,s why its is so costly for food. in that case started to take pictures of tea shop when she said not take picture then foreigner took out knife and tried to threaten Nepalese ladies after tha she did all those kind action to defence after that foreigner retreated and said sorry to her . Foreigner threw the money on the floor instead of giving hand it was disrespect for everyone. nepali woman said those kind activities not even animal does after all ur human after that this discussion start
I am sure the knife won't get pulled out unless someone is holding a stick. But how that stick is held in the first place got to be from threatening. Why the threatening, got to be from the unwillingness to pay. Why not pay, got to be from the price disagreement. Why disagree, got to be from assuming the price along the way. Each side would twist their story to make themselves more legitimate. What cross over would be more likely the truth.
If the tea was too pricey, don't agree to it. There is high price tourist traps everywhere you go in the world! The tea was close to $1.50 a cup, which is high in Nepal but shit, people pay $5 usd for coffee at Starbucks. The British tourist used her own cup which was 3 times the size. Nepalese woman got upset about her wanting a discount after drinking it, when refused the tourist threw the money on the floor and started filming! The Nepalese woman lost it, and told her to stop filming her. So really the tourist not only agreed to the price of tea, ripped off the poor vendor by using a larger cup, then asked for a discount, then posted her video making herself look like the victim! British snobery or white privilege entitlement?
Soloman1001 : The tourist had a bigger cup! Besides, why was she apologizing to the tea vendor after chasing her up the trail? If she didn't do anything wrong, there was no need to say sorry!
I drank small cup tea in restaurant for RS 125 in the city. I did not complain and just paid because I know the place is expensive . Where as this is in mountain area. If you go in mountain or hilly areas it is expensive everywhere. If you cant pay than dont drink. Check the depth of the water before diving.
Can the nepalese woman prove that the british woman threw the money on the floor and menaced her with a knife ? I am sorry, i have passed a long time in Nepal and i know that nepalese are often very angry when tourists refuse being rip off. The worst of this sad event is that this nepalese woman didnt care that there was a child witnessing her angry behaviour, a child that got very scared by being chased by this psychopath nepalese woman. I am a mother and this nepalese woman is a bad person with no respect for a scared foreign child running in the mountains because she behaved like the primitive mind she is!!
Very similar when they come to philippines too, white people tourist think they can just take advantage most of the time especially those white tourist with little money to spend but want to act like a millionaire! Be strong nepali kuddos to u sister!!!!!!good job!! Fight for ur right
I had the privilege of seeing The Pixies and Weezer in concert this summer in Toronto...a can of beer....20$. The English woman should have stayed home.
150 rs is Nepalese currency which equal to 100 indian rupees so its fair price in mountain areas and its their business to provide tea and snakes to tourist they are poor people look their life style how they survive in that remote areas they have no other jobs their life depends on these tourists. Why tourist pay 1000 or more spent on drugs and drink on goa beach do they bargain there? Then why with these poor people????
It is not...Nepal is poorer than India and with 150 rupees in Nepal you can even rent a hotel room for a night..150 rupees in Nepal is the salary of two days..for a tea ? No locals in Nepal will pay 150 rupees for a tea
Obataladance lol rent a room with rs 150 ...in which era are you living? Rs 150 is fair price. And yes while no locals of the area will pay rs 150for tea But domestic tourist people from cities do pay rs 150 and more at such places. I have paid rs250 for one glass of cola on trek. And if i think the price is too high for my budget then i dont buy it. That is how it should go... take it and later ask for discount, then throw money on floor.... jeez thats not the way.
What knife? Do you think Nepali lady would scream "Give me 150 rupee!" and not "Why you point knife at me?" if she had her life threatened? Both people wrong. Don't buy if you aren't going to pay, and don't chase people throwing rocks on a cliff.
Agreed. Seems to me like both parties were pushing too hard. If they're charging too much for tea, don't buy it. Likewise, if you're a vendor and people are hassling you over prices, tell them to get knotted and don't chase them down a hillside, no matter how annoying they are.
Alexander, you still don't get it. The Nepali woman is innocent. A British person would have already killed but she didn't so. Nepali people are very good from within. I'm Indian and I know it very well.
Come to my country with that attitude u might lost your good damn face for sure..this is not America..most of Asian countries has good people and polite to tourists but if u act like a brat for sure u get killed..happen to many time in my country, foreigner get kill after midnight party because u guys rude and think this is europe or America..
The Brit lady should realize that it is 2022, not 1922 when your forefathers looted that region and left in a mess. Learn to respect. Did you ever haggle or ask for a discount at Starbucks or Costa but were keen to ask her to drop the price.
It doesn't matter if you are Nepali or not Nepali, you go hiking these treks, everybody pays the fixed what the owners say. Behind the price, they calculate what effort they put into to making the price in the most honest way, and it has been like that for many many years. The Truth is, the higher you go in altitute, the higher the price becomes. To understand why, you have to know couple things. Before globalisation hit Nepal, people used to live in rural corners by their will. Nowadays, people are moving towards cities, comfort, and facilities. So, the only people left on these remote places are shop owners and people who trade. While all this transformation has taken place during multiple years, the transportation infrastructure from cities to these rural places has barely changed. There is no access for four or two wheelers to these places. Everything must be taken either by people themselves or donkeys. It is those same donkey's generation that is carrying the loads to the top every trip, every day, every year. They carry almost everything that can be carried on their back starting from salt, rice, medicine, water, and you can imagine the rest of modern human's basic needs. Maybe in future if there are roads and cable cars across the hills and mountains, the price may go cheaper, but that may take few generations or never happen at all. Given, the prices in the Nepali metropolitian cities are not capped, or managed by the council, it very much makes sense to think that shop owners hike the price, and it also makes sense for you to bargain, but it is not like that everywhere in Nepal and that has a reason as well. There are few types of business people in Nepal. One the famous Nepali Merchant, Newa, has their hold on Kathmandu, Lalitpur, & Patan. In recent days however, The Madwadis & Bihaari from India have bought lands, properties, and business in Nepal corrupting Kathmandu Council members, politicians, and government officials, ruining the long holding Nepali culture day by day. You may ask, where is the evidence for this? Not everything is documented in paper and ink. It is observed and experienced as well. In my experience as I grew up both in village and metropolotian cities of Nepal, it is those Indian merchants who cheat on the prices. Contrastingly, one thing Nepali know very good, is loyalty and honesty. This culture of honesty and loyalty has been set by our Kings & Queens, Buddha, and Hindu Gods in the span of generations. Take a look around Kathamandu, majority of the street vendors are Indian, the little kids who come to ask you for money are Indian, the Sadhus and Yogis are Indian. All the menial jobs, gaps, and businesses have been discovered and taken. The Indians who immigrate to Nepal are mostly from North India, a.k.a Bihaar. We used to hear jokes when we were kids about how Bihari people will loot your watch if you take your hand out of airplane (Airplanes were small and had windows back then) That is a stereotype and there are genuinely great people with families and great ambitions. Again, Bihari being cheater is just a stereotype. Rather, bihaar has scarcity of everything because it is a dry and arid place with very less vegetation and water. It may be environment of Bihaar that makes people compelled to find short routes to success. For fact, It has the highest rate in crime among all of India. Majority of Bihaar's officials are corrupted, which even a Bihaari can confirm. People who escape from Bihaar find Nepal most pleasant. To answer why the prices are not fixed or capped, there is another reason. It was fixed and regulated, until.... the Royal Family of Nepal was murdered in one room on a Friday night dinner (which after 22 years is still a mystery), and now there is no government body to regulate the rules. There is actually, but it is like vestigial organs because they have been in a long wait, like hyenas, to taste the Royalty of the Kingdom suddenly got a chance to experience. Today, every level of government offical, from a cleaner to the Prime Minister & President are corrupted, in hopes of getting richer and richer, looting from public, from public services to retail, wholesale, import, export and whatever they can get their hands into. Nepal has slowly become a heaven for exploitation for Bihaari & Maadwadi people, no offense, but it is the reality. Globalisation has taken Nepal from a proud place to where nobody wants to go settle anymore. Every single day, thousands of Nepali ADULTs fly out from Nepal for "opportunities", and with the tide, I flew out as well. Left in the country are old, physically weak, and young people. To sum up, it is not only the logistics that caused the price to be high, but it is the frustration from a longing situation that has caused the aggression, since you provoked the lady where you really should show respect for their hard work. Please know where in Nepal you are, who you are dealing with, and be kind. 99% of the times, Nepali people are caring, giving, and kind. There is also no need to give extra money like the new youtubers give away, but don't try to cheat hard workers. They work to meet your needs and treat you Royal!

You spend thousands of dollars visiting a country and cant even afford to pay $1.5 for a tea then you better not come here . Mountain life is tough . The English lady CAN pay for the Tea, she just has no respect for other people, making it worse, shes not setting a good example to her 15 year old son!
This woman should give respect to any tourist no matter what , you are representing your country. How can you attract tourist if you are behaving badly. You should know how to deal with your costumers.
The story is all over UA-cam and other media. The tourist misbehaved and initiated the confrontation. These people has to bring supplies from far downhill and it is normally on foot or animals. Things get super expensive. The English lady threatened her with a Swiss knife and threw the tea money on ground. Everyone deserve respect. Your money doesn’t place you on higher pedestal.
Lets all be realistic here... The chase video said in description she tried to charge me 3 times more than the printed price. Lets say the printed price was 150npr... x3... thats less than £3... In the chase video, the nepali woman also yelled something ahout 1000 or 2000 rupees - 2000 NPR is less than £10... So I don't know what price is real but... I appreciate that when you travel it's not great to pay a white tax/tourist tax, but for the sake of less than £10 or less than £3 its hardly the biggest budget smasher out there... Smarten up, ask price before hand and if you forget and mess up, take your hard earned lesson and realise it won't financially ruin you.

If something doesn't make sense, it's usually because it's not true. The tea stall woman's story makes no sense - the trekker pulled a knife on her? Why? Note the tea stall woman made no comments in the video that align with the video. My personal experience in Nepal, trekking: 4 different thefts, a parks government worker picking up a rock and throwing it at my wife's head, and different threats and lies the entire time. Unfortunately, my experiences were echoed by others we met. If you go to Nepal, be prepared to met with violent people who are familiar with deceit and theft. If you look at the comments on this page, you will see South-Asian posts saying that the woman 'deserved it'. You have been warned.
If you can't afford a 1$ tea, then don't fuckin travel to the himalayas and disrespect poor people. You have no fuckin clue how hard it is get foods to those areas. Being a native, I never bargain with vendors in the hilly area. They are just poor people working for their livelihood. Can't say much about the people in the city area. But, this lady was definitely not scamming. People like you need to understand this "Ask before you buy something." Don't haggle with poor people. It's disrespectful.

Tourist: During summer 2017 I was hiking with my stepson in the Annapurna region of Nepal. On that hike I called at a tea shop and there was an incident which I filmed which then went viral around the world. The video can be found here: Crazy Nepali Woman attacks British Family on Annapurna Circuit Until now I have remained silent at the hate which I have received, the death threats and the disgraceful side of humanity that has been laid bare and aimed at me. Nepal was, and still is one of my favourite places in the world. Rugged mountain ranges, lush green valleys, immense culture, and some of the softest, most gentle human beings that I have ever met who despite a tumultuous history still find goodness in their hearts. Every day is filled with the welcome of genuine individuals who offer hope, warmth and generosity. Hiking in Nepal is second to none, even following absolute decimation by the 2015 earthquake the Nepalis just put things right and moved on regardless. It is this endeavour for happiness, through poverty, hardship, natural disasters and a ruthless history that really does summarise how amazing the Nepalese are. You shouldn’t haggle over $1.50 I have travelled to many countries throughout Asia and even volunteered at a rural school in India. Not only do I respect cultures, but I admire the discipline and the hope, and I have never ever disrespected any culture, anywhere in the world. On this website there are images of me dressed in a hijab in the Middle East, with my shoulders covered in temples, dressing modestly on beaches etc. It has been suggested to me that I don’t care for culture and that I shouldn’t haggle over a cup of tea when it costs just $1.50. The issue is this, first of all I didn’t haggle. Though in Nepal haggling is part of daily life and culture, on the trails I never haggle, even in the markets of Kathmandu I feel uncomfortable haggling and rarely do. I am the typical tourist in that I know I always pay over the odds for things due to my nature. Secondly, being overcharged in Nepal is commonplace. Not due to dishonesty, simply due to the fact haggling is expected, a price will usually be quoted on the very assumption that you will negotiate to a reasonable price. This is not what happened at the Deurali tea house. On the Annapurna prices tend to be relatively fixed, with you paying the same at all places. At the Deurali tea shop I was quoted three times the price. It is irrelevant whether this amounted to $1.50 or not, there are no ATM’s on the trail, trekkers carry only cash and they carry the cash they think they will need. Stories of hikers travelling with hoards of money just does not happen. If I paid 3 times the price for everything I would have left my stepson and I in a very tough position. The simple fact is, I was being ripped off and I paid it, knowing this. I simply made a comment acknowledging that I knew I was being ripped off. You had your own mug that was 3 times the size Not true and one of the early lies given out by the woman. When you hike anywhere in the Himalayas there are certain things you must consider. The main one is health. If I was to carry my own mug, I would also need to find a safe place to clean it every time I used it. What is the point in doing that when tea shops provide cups? How impolite would it be bringing my own cup and then giving this to someone to fill. I think that would be rude. Another thing to consider is weight, carrying my own mug would be pointless weight. I do carry a bottle, it is a bottle that filters the water and does not require cleaning, but protects against any waterborne disease, this isn’t needed for hot drinks as the boiling process eliminates any water borne diseases. You stayed at the tea house and refused to pay This was the first lie the woman told. Probably in haste as it didn’t take people long to realise this was impossible since she has no rooms at her tea house. Getting produce to the village is tough It is, I 100% acknowledge this. I have seen guys in Nepal carrying weight which is at the limits of human capability and it breaks my heart seeing people have to work that hard for such minimal amounts of money. But lets put this into perspective for a moment. (Despite the fact tea is grown locally) Assuming a tea bag was used, lets say that 1 tea bag is equal to 2 grams. Lets say that a local will carry 50kg up to the village. That is a total of 50,000 grams or 25,000 tea bags. At the price of $1.50 per tea bag, that means the load has a value of $37,500 Considering the current GDP per capita is $2,400, that means that one person, for that one load, carried up to the village a load that would represent an average 16 years of earning for the average Nepali. Now lets consider the porter used a horse that can carry 100kg… Lets be realistic here. Also, the teashop runs a porter service. You pulled a knife on the woman This is the most ridiculous of all the lies that have been touted by the woman. In a recent video she claims that I pulled a knife on her. When I first saw this response I laughed it off due to how ridiculous an accusation it is, but what has stunned me is how many people actually believe this would happen. In the Annapurna region the people are renowned for being hard working, for being the type of people that are fierce in the face any challenges. That spend their days doing back breaking work that would reduce most of the world to tears. To even contemplate that any tourist would ever, in the middle of the Himalayas and over the price of a cup of tea, would pull a knife out on a local is simply insane. It is so far removed from any reality that it has dumfounded me that people even entertained this would be true. To pull a knife, or even pick up a weapon in this part of the world against a local would be suicide, not just amongst the locals, but the police too. I would like to think I live in a world where that simply does not happen. I hit the woman with my walking poles/a stick Again, this is so far removed from reality that it is pure fantasy. The ‘truth’ video In this video it is claimed that I asked the price, then haggled and then threw the money on the floor. This is a lie, I don’t know anyone that would act like that, it is a complete lie. It is then alleged that I started filming the Nepalese woman with my phone, this is impossible as I use an old phone due to its a very long battery life and that has no recording capability. I had on my chest a GoPro 5 capable of 4k filming, all I have to do is say ‘GoPro record’ and it starts to record. I did take a photograph of the outside of the shop, I was writing an account of my travels and was going to later write about how stopping here would inflate the price of a drink to three times that of other places. It was in fact this attempt at a photograph that triggered the situation. It is then claimed I pushed the Nepali woman and then pulled out a knife. As I have already explained this is just ridiculous. I will also add that the husband was there the whole time, at no point did he get involved. If what the woman says is true, he would have. It is then claimed I somehow managed to find a log and attempted to hit the woman. Again, not only is this so far removed from my character, that I don’t believe any tourist would even dream of doing this. This woman has changed her story multiple times, to the point of fantasy. The reality of what happened is simple. She ripped me off, I commented on it, paid it anyway and then left the shop to take a photograph of the name. She became angry and tried to hit my phone out of my hands, she then tried to me with a stick which I blocked with my walking poles. I then ran, she chased me and threw rocks before outrunning me and then going crazy over me. My stepson was running ahead as I screamed for him to get help, the trail was along a steep banking that would have meant certain death had I fallen and the man my stepson managed to get was not the woman’s brother as she claims. I put the video on UA-cam to show anyone hiking the Annapurna where to avoid and I still stand by that decision. This woman is dangerous, when I reported her behaviour at the next village people laughed at me explaining that this was commonplace, and she is well known for exploding at tourists, knowing she will get away with it due to the nearest police being far away in Manang. Her behaviour was not unique to just me, there have even been people comment on social media and this video that they came across this woman and she went crazy at them too, and one day I really do believe she will kill or seriously injure someone. The Nepalese tourism board contacted me, and official statements were taken. They are aware of the danger she poses and I stand by my initial naming of the video: Crazy Nepali woman attacks British family on Annapurna Circuit, Nepal I hope that bringing this woman to the spotlight and that by showing her actions I have in some way warned others of the danger this woman poses to tourists. Stay safe on the trails. Gemma Wilson
Well can you make a tea with just a tea bag? In order to cook the tea you need gas and sugar and water too and also she probably prepared it for you, cleaned your cups after you left. So how can you be so silly and just think about the price of the tea bag when you were handed a well prepared tea by the woman. If you say it’s nothing for someone to carry tea bags to those heights and sell it as it weighs less then you should have carried some for yourself and just asked for boiled water, would be far cheaper for you as you like to drink sugarless tea I guess. Try opening a shop in that part of the hills and mountains where it is extremely hard to find resources and where you have to carry or pay people and animals to carry all of the gas cylinders and rations. You need to realize that the higher you go the more expensive the food is even to the locals. You and I have paid rs 150 for tea in cafes around ktm and thamel too just admit it, so why was it so hard for you to hand that to the poor vendor working and serving you in that altitude? By the way you are saying you are trying to make this poor women’s shop look like it rips and benefits out of tourists yet I do not see her living well. I am sure how much she earns is just enough to buy further rations for her lil shop and to feed her family and no more than that. If she profited so much just with tea she would not be living in that condition and serving arrogant people like you. If the video was clicked on a GoPro please provide the full incident from the start, as you said it was on your chest and recording. That way you will not have to give these long explanations to prove you are innocent. PS always carry enough cash when you go trekking to remote places as the food cost is higher and you should even the locals do not bargain there as we understand the struggle of the poor people who are struggling to eat and survive with what little they make. You have lots of Nepali gorkha souldiers in the British forces. Ask around and you will know that Nepalese people are very humble ,loyal and kind but if triggered and disrespected they are fearless and ready to kill. Do not worry about her killing any tourists because not everyone is arrogant like you. If you support the locals you are treated with respect if u try to tear what little income they have just because something was pricey in your point of view then you are asking for it.Also Nepalese people do not lie for benefit like other people. You may find crooks in the cities but the people of remote areas are known to be extremely honest, loyal and hardworking. The thing is the woman in the video is not as good as you are in explaining a situation as she do not speak English well and she is not educated like you are.She does not have a camera or any equipment to show her side to the world. You may be right to people who unserstands you but not to the local people who understands her. Educated people are manipulative they know how to talk while these poor people get easily accused because they talk straight and do not know how to twist words for sympathy.
So instead of your long explanations, I request you to post the full video not just the clip of the woman chasing you as your GoPro was recording so that way people can know the whole story !!
This makes you look even more of an asshole to be honest. Justifying that her tea doesn't cost $1.50... well who cares, maybe after your snarky comment to her she should have snidely remarked on how expensive your hiking clothes and gear were, they dont sell that shit in primark.

My flank broke into 2 pieces during the fight. I took both and chased after her, who had a swiss knife in her hand by that time. //REAL STORY//
Two sized tea to sell, tourist lady felt like the price was too high, nevertheless, she ordered the tea and after drinking, she threw the money on the floor for the Sherpa woman to pick up.

White people making trouble again, why I am not surprised
All I know is that you don't bargain AFTER you drink the tea
@Soloman1001 you would know everything about ripping people off, wouldn't you?
Nepalese money is lower than British money. 1 p would = about ten roupees so
Can the nepalese woman prove that the british woman threw the money on the floor and menaced her with a knife ? I am sorry, i have passed a long time in Nepal and i know that nepalese are often very angry when tourists refuse being rip off. The worst of this sad event is that this nepalese woman didnt care that there was a child witnessing her angry behaviour, a child that got very scared by being chased by this psychopath nepalese woman.
Agreed. Seems to me like both parties were pushing too hard. If they're charging too much for tea, don't buy it. Likewise, if you're a vendor and people are hassling you over prices, tell them to get knotted and don't chase them down a hillside, no matter how annoying they are.

Honest nepali women 🇳🇵

First the women charged very much for tea and secondly she misbehaved very much with the tourists thirdly all the nepali people are justifying her. Where is atithi devo bhav. They are very cruel to guests. Nepalis are bad hosts. I have just once traveled Nepal and will not like to travel to this country again. It's the worst country on the earth.
Moreover their police will support local people instead of tourists. So guys don't travel to Nepal. You people are welcomed in India.
Tourist: During summer 2017 I was hiking with my stepson in the Annapurna region of Nepal. On that hike I called at a tea shop and there was an incident which I filmed which then went viral around the world. The video can be found here: Crazy Nepali Woman attacks British Family on Annapurna Circuit
Until now I have remained silent at the hate which I have received, the death threats and the disgraceful side of humanity that has been laid bare and aimed at me.
You shouldn’t haggle over $1.50
I have travelled to many countries throughout Asia and even volunteered at a rural school in India.
Not due to dishonesty, simply due to the fact haggling is expected,
a price will usually be quoted on the very assumption that you will negotiate to a reasonable price.
You had your own mug that was 3 times the size
Not true and one of the early lies given out by the woman.
You stayed at the tea house and refused to pay
This was the first lie the woman told. Probably in haste as it didn’t take people long to realise this was impossible since she has no rooms at her tea house.
Getting produce to the village is tough
It is, I 100% acknowledge this. I have seen guys in Nepal carrying weight which is at the limits of human capability and it breaks my heart seeing people have to work that hard for such minimal amounts of money. But lets put this into perspective for a moment. (Despite the fact tea is grown locally)
Assuming a tea bag was used, lets say that 1 tea bag is equal to 2 grams.
Lets say that a local will carry 50kg up to the village. That is a total of 50,000 grams or 25,000 tea bags.
At the price of $1.50 per tea bag, that means the load has a value of $37,500
Considering the current GDP per capita is $2,400, that means that one person, for that one load, carried up to the village a load that would represent an average 16 years of earning for the average Nepali. Now lets consider the porter used a horse that can carry 100kg…
Lets be realistic here.
Also, the teashop runs a porter service.
You pulled a knife on the woman
This is the most ridiculous of all the lies that have been touted by the woman.
I hit the woman with my walking poles/a stick
Again, this is so far removed from reality that it is pure fantasy.
The ‘truth’ video
In this video it is claimed that I asked the price, then haggled and then threw the money on the floor.
They are aware of the danger she poses and I stand by my initial naming of the video: Crazy Nepali woman attacks British family on Annapurna Circuit, Nepal
I hope that bringing this woman to the spotlight and that by showing her actions I have in some way warned others of the danger this woman poses to tourists.
Stay safe on the trails.
Gemma Wilson
If it is true ....I am extremely sorry for the misbehaves done by the Nepalese lady.....We Nepalese respect every tourist as a god🙏
