@Lynneswolf I was watching it yesterday as well, I felt let down by parts of it, like the fire extinguisher escape, but at the same time I loved the episode. I was especially impressed with the part when Fraser was telling Kowalski about the Robert MacKenzie, that was so haunting I thought he might have actually been talking about a real ship! I've always thought it was a strong show, at it's best with David Marciano!
@t5y665yrty56 he looks nothing like Geraint Wynn Davies! Geraint is a good looking man, but Paul Gross is so much better looking and is far more talented!
@sjbaum In a documentary made for the British ITV channel Paul Gross mentioned that they'd originally originally wanted to use another song, based on a real sunken ship. But families of the people who died on that ship were against the idea. Therefore Paul and his team came up with an original song for this episode, complete with the background story of a fictional sunken ship.
Paul Gross-what hottie! to bad this show got cancelled, i loved watching it. Who knew he could really sing? He could sing anything to me i wouldn't care, just so i could look into those eyes.
My mother and I just 2 or 3 weeks ago found Due South on the $5.00 rack at Target and have been watching it non stop but thats not important whats important is that Due South is a damn good show.
Was only watching this episode yesterday, love this song, I miss this programme, its all too easy to forget how good it was, well written, funny and great incidental music scores, amazon time I think!!!
@lennier1 the wreck of the scott fitzgerald was the song they wanted to use. The only thing that spoiled this episode was the fact that when Faser is explaining to Ray the history of the Robert Macenzie, he quotes verbatum from the song... Which he wrote. Don't get me worng its a fantastic song and a fantastic series, it just seems a bit lazy.
i read a few comments.the ship he wanted to use was the edmund fitzgerald or called the fitz.im sure everybody heard about that boat lol lol.but the families asked him nicely to not use it,so he agreed.then he came up with this song.
Man, how can the tin whistle sound as sexy as the bass? I finally donated my box set with every episode of Due South, so someone else can enjoy it, but I can't part with my Gunless and Men With Brooms discs. The dated cop show format was never my favorite part, and I was very glad callum Keith rennie joined, enjoyed him much more than the Ray NY cop vibe. Still don't enjoy that, but the interpersonal scenes imprinted on me for life. One of my treasures somehow. Who else could possibly have brought Benton Fraser to life? Also loved the young Mountie in the embassy who watched curling. All the characters were good, but no one compared to Leslie Nielsen. From pure goofy to the one scene in black tee shirt, ready to lay down his life, up against his greatest challenge -would he betray all he'd stood for ?(episode?), amazing how hard-edged and sexy he was there. By the way, the great Douglas Double-reverse shot competition between Fraser's dad and Buck happened the day I was born, April 23, 1957. Hearing that did something to me. There's a weird kind of synchronistic magic in the world. No doubt. The show also premiered on my birthday in 1994. Sweet.
Off the top of my head I remember Ride Forever (All the Queen's Horses), Barrett's Privateers (Mountie on the Bounty), Northwest Passage (Call of the Wild), Nobody's Girl (Mountie sings the Blues), O Perfect Love and K-k-Katy (not sure which episodes). Camilla Scott also had a fine voice which she got to use a couple of times as Inspector Thatcher and that strange episode where she played somebody else.
Paul Gross, great face, nice voice, writes a powerful song, too. This was written in place of true saga, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" Bravo, guys!
+Balto Flyer No. It was based on the song the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald which they originally wanted to use but out of respect for the families instead wrote this.

Based on the Sir Edmund Fitzgerald shipwreck.
You're thinking of the wrong song
+Balto Flyer No. It was based on the song the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald which they originally wanted to use but out of respect for the families instead wrote this.
