8:50. One unintuitive note about crows and ducks is their flight stage isn't a set radius and gradually agitates based on the hunter's line of sight and obstructions (reeds, rocks). This means turning a corner on a pack of crows doesn't immediately alert them, but the hunter needs to look away and crouchwalk out of the agitation range.
NO WAY! That explains so much. There was a time last night where I rounded a corner and basically stepped on a flock, but stopped right away, and it didn't alert. Crow video?
@@HuntShowdownLab Can confirm, crows have an aggro bar that fills depending on what you do. Which is why you sometimes run right through them setting them off with basically a delay, sometimes you crouch 15m way and they are still spooked (as the bar was almost full already).
Hunt starts off as a horror game and evolves either into a comedy game or a tactical shooter, depending on how the round goes^^ Beeing nervous at first is completely normal, but that will vanish eventually.
Just like in all the horror games and in many aspects of life itself the scary factor gets greatly reduced with knowledge. So unfortunately the answer is shortly put "get used to it" Like Butcher for example can look indimitating, can kill in few hits and fire can be brutal if you don't get banish in time BUT knowing butcher only has like 3ish attacks and only one is ranged(also has noticable sound clue) and Butcher doesn't really become fast even in rage mode. You can always outrun it. You hitting butcher also stagger it breefly but stagger has a cooldown of few seconds. So technically you wont have much troubles hitting it 2 times, running and repeating. There are faster ways to deal with it but this is the safe way without extra tools. Same thing applies to every other type of enemy honestly. AI rarely is lethal once you know how it works and you manage to be aware of the surroundings. Don't stab imolators, don't melee consertina armoreds, don't hit the miner grunts on the head, look out for oil traces/barrels when hitting torch/lantern/miner grunts. It's a lot for first timer but each AI kinda only has 1 gimmick if even that to worry about. Also silenced weapon with poison ammo is pretty much universal tool againt AI if you are willing to sacrifice one weapon slot for it. Only bee ladies and spider boss don't mind poison and headshots against bee ladies still does the job. Fire ammo is rarer in silenced weapons but can work too. AI tends to scream when they are set on fire though so it's not as silent as poison that outright kills them. Also immolators and buncher don't really mind fire. Now the paranoia of hunters maybe being aroud can also be reduced but propably never fully removed. For example AI only spawns in in proximity of a hunter and only once per location during the match. So when looking at the distance at the places you haven't been in you can know that hunter is or has been there if there is AI. Later in the match AI might have been cleared though but rarely fully. Same happens with windows. Structures are constant but windows spawn in hunter proximity. I still sometimes get a scare from grunt hiding behind door or surprise screaming at you in tall hay but it's very rare.
Yea what dude above said just play more and it gets less scary. I body butcher with a melee weapon I find laying around. Just remember to let him calm down after you take a quarter health because he rages for a sec each time
The game is not scary at all after some experience and learning how to deal with stuff, i don't like horror games myself but hunt is fine now after like 1 dive into guides on how to pve
This is the first beginners guide I’ve seen that’s actually been helpful. All of the others so far have basically just been people repeating “don’t be scared” and “it’s ok to lose money” for 10 minutes.
Aw! This is such a cute tutorial! I love the clear instructions and thorough in-depth details you provide. New players are sure to benefit greatly from this video. Good job, man! ❤
As a returning hunt player your guided for beginners are so much for helpful than bigger UA-camrs. High tier video, you should have more views and subscribers
Guy went from "oh gosh, oh golly, oy vey" to carrying you over his shoulders like a fireman. This was great, love to see a fresh perspective on Hunt after so many hours. This channel is an absolute gem
3:08 Fun fact, the damage you take from meleeing Concertina armoreds is distance based. If you're using a melee with longer reach you can hit them without taking any bleed damage, so swords, bayonetes and pitchforks can easely kill them without taking damage, I even managed to hit them with the heavy knife and not take any bleed.
Would love an updated version of this. There are so many little tips and tricks in this game. Like the boss icon turning red, the clues turning red, the boat and horses making noise when there are enemies in the area.
Yeah, I didn't realize he actually had a good amount of time in FPS games. We've never played much for FPS together, so i expected him to struggle with it, but he surprised me. I think he said that he played COD with his brother. Not sure, he's busy with monster hunter with his channel, but we'll see. So far we haven't hunted together again.
8:40 Thing about crows. One person can sneak by them. But if 2 or more people are sneaking around them, it'll still build up their sound trap. Even if you hop a fence, and practically land on some crows, sneak a few steps, stop and let their trigger cool off, and repeat until you're out of their range. So, if you and your buddies end up next to birds you can't pass, try sneaking by one at a time. Most people don't care, and just scare the birds. That's fine too. But it's entirely possible for everyone to sneak by.
10:30 The biggest dynamite one shots the butcher too if you time it just right, if you're really desperate to kill him quick you can just hold down the fuse and stand near him. 10:34 That does have a disadvantage though, he does more damage that way and gets a bit of damage resistance.
minor correction at 13:00 Banishing a boss while a teammate is down will regenerate their health bars. When they are revived after the boss is banished they will get up with all health bars intact, but will be at low health and will need to heal themselves with a med kit. So it is still beneficial to revive teammates before banishing since it will save them from having to use valuable med kits, but in a pinch it may be worth it.
3:50 one strong attack is a good summary, but I think it's worth mentioning that it's the heavy knife that one light strikes common monsters, which feels really good to play with.
Yeah, this was supposed to be an easy video, but I ended up spending 3x the time I wanted to on it. I have to stop overthinking details eventually. That sounds like a great inclusion for a melee item deep dive.
Minor correction at 13:00, downed teammates do restore charred health chunks from banish, they just don’t get healed. At 15:48 you don’t mention burning w/ firebeetles or ignited immolators either.
Man, we've danced around delaying a bounty until we get the revive too many times. My group has always worked off of that assumption. Thanks for the correction.
TY so much for this video!! this game is brutal and hard to learn. i appreciate this video in so many ways. entertaining, overwhelmingly helpful, great edits. thank you so much!!!!!
It's also a minor tip that the Medical Packs are used more quickly (3 seconds base) than the First Aid Kits (4.5 seconds base) you bring in your loadout.
@9:55 "Because when you shoot a gun, enemies can hear that from at least half the map away" To expand here a little: You can hear the guns pretty much across the entire map (maps are 1x1 km). The exceptions being the suppressed guns, and the derringer- The derringer falls off to be pretty much inaudible at 500 meters away. For anyone interested, in the "Arsenal" tab- Any and every gun you click will have an option at the bottom to view the gun in 3d, which lets you inspect the model. Something else hand with this screen however is that you can fire the gun, to get used to the sound, and you can zoom the camera away (mouse wheel by default on computer). As you zoom away, the screen will go past distance markers, all the way up to 1000 meters- so not only can you get used to the sounds of the guns (which are all very distinct and unique to that type of gun), you can get accustomed to the sound of that gun at range.
For chicken pens, if you have poison ammo (Silent Nagant Poison or Centennial Shorty Silencer Poison is the best for this as it is silent) you can shoot at a chicken and it'll kill the entire pen without breaking the lantern and causing noise/fire. This DOES NOT WORK on dog kennels.
Still new to the game Any tips on sound managment? how far like footstep sounds travel? i can't really tell when i'm too noisy or when i'm not also i always feel blind in most fights that aren't in a compound people snipe me out of bushes while i can't see anyone
Sound is a balance. It’s not worth it to be so quiet that you are crouch walking in the open, but when you don’t need to shoot, explode, or trip a sound trap, there is no need. Depending on how confident you are or how much you want a fight you could also take the opposite approach and make a lot of noise to attract players. Once you have a bounty or other players are aware of your presence there is no point being sneaky over being quick. It also comes down to play style. Some games I am mr sneaky and others I’ve just ignored traps and I have had success with both methods.
Really fun and informative video for beginners. I was just thinking since there are four bosses that drop 2 bounty tokens, and only one boss that drops 1 bounty token, wouldn't it be cool if there was a boss that dropped 3 bounty tokens?
Seems like a video where you go over how to kill each AI would be useful to new players. Maybe even end it with some helpful tips for how to (quietly) kill bosses.

I definitely remember dying to the butcher in the tutorial as well and while he is the least nimble boss and can't slow you like scrapbeak, I'd argue the assassin is the easiest boss to introduce players to since he's basically just whackamole with a bleed and doesn't charge. Crytek probably chose tbe butcher cause they wanted people to die + the butcher is more conventionally scary and shows off the lighting tech.
I had to do a double take when I saw GiddyFox in the thumbnail because I just started watching his MHW content a week ago. The timing of that is weird lmao.

Yeah, you can actually kill crows with a lot of stuff. Concertina Arrows, Explosive ammo, Decoy Fuses, etc. At some point, I'll probably do a short video about every way that you can kill a crow. I wonder if even using the louder methods is worth it because it doesn't betray the direction you're traveling.
I actually only knew lanterns and poison clouds, learned from someone who played the game for over 1000 hours so surprised he only knew those options. @@HuntShowdownLab
There's just so many details in this game. It seems like everyone no matter there experience has some 'obvious' thing that they never came across. That's a big part about why I love it!@@LeMicronaut
I’ve never had that happen, sorry! If someone is dead dead, then they don’t get the bars restored and you need to red skull revive them with the bounty. But I’ve never had a teammate just miss out on a banish heal.
@@HuntShowdownLab to be honest, I might be straight up schizo and the other two members were always full health. Somewhere along learning the game, i thought only one person got restoration from banish, and i guess i never really looked into it. thanks!
Wouldn’t you pick Bulwark as one of your go-to traits? I feel like so many things in the game can explode and outright kill you, also dead hunters DO NOT miss out on banish restoration!
at 13:05 this is not true actually. everyone, even dead hunters get their health back but the have to heal the health so you should still revive first. only exception are hunters that are red skull
If you’re new to the game, just go out there and do your best. Nothing will help you more than simply just experiencing the game and the playstyle. It’s a fast paced game but all so absolutely boring on the slow end. You’ll see what I mean later on. Unfortunately the game has little meaning outside of PVP. This game wouldn’t exist without that element and when you get into an empty map more often then not you’ll just want to extract and try again. If you’re a skilled fps gamer you’ll find the movement may feel slow to begin with but you can definitely speed it up once you get the hang of it.
4000h hunt player here (and iam still a light weight with those hours) i disagree that traits dont make a difference 95% of the time kite skin, light foot make a huge difference in flanking doctor, physician and iron eye are super strong and necro alone can win you a match you know: when experienced player meet each other they shoot 1-2 times and go for hard or soft cover and try to flank they dont stand on the open and keep shooting at each other thats some 3 star stuff...
I agree with that. I was flippantly exaggerating to stop him from wasting time being worried about traits when he doesn’t even know how to kill AI yet. The point was getting the right traits isn’t what a new player should be focusing on. Learning the rest of the game is more important at that state. Having the right traits can make the difference, but you need a level of skill and understanding to use them. An experienced player without traits will bean an inexperienced player with traits.
The coyboy is my channel mascot. The hunter on the right is just a random free hunter from the recruitment screen. The fox is the mascot for the guest in the video. (Giddy Fox Gaming)
You and DeathByPewPew can go get your gater legs and hang out in a swamp. :P Mostly I just had to end the list at some point, Gater Leg's is a good call. I probably under-value it. Once I learned the jump trick timing for crossing rivers, I stopped taking gater legs. I wanted to recommend traits that were always helpful, and didn't push a specific weapon/playstyle.
@@HuntShowdownLab Fair enough, man! I think Gator Legs as a must have because it cuts down the need to go around most bodies of water, and it actually works in combination with the jump trick for medium/large ponds, lakes, and rivers. It also gives you way more options if you ever got into a gunfight near water or need to chase bounty!
This is my new play tips and tricks video. I think you must have been directed to the wrong video for some reason. Here's the MMR video, but that was just a news update about when they switch to the new MMR system a few months ago. ua-cam.com/video/_T-3v1-jQQ0/v-deo.html
This game got so steril graphic, monster hunter is colored nice graphic and don't have bugs. If Japanese or gorilla (killzone3) made Hunt I think that game will be the best game ever. I wait for 'escape shooter' from square, konami, namco ect.. then hunt will die.
I mean, it’s a horror game. The setting and presentation are significant part of what players love about it. Hunt’s likely never going to be as big as monster hunter, but a more saturated visual style certainly won’t be killing it. I’d say both this and monster hunter are great looking games, but are attracting different players.

Your buddy is a trooper lol I’ve had 3 friends give up after their first play session cause it was too much for them 😂 the sound is def something to get used to. 2k+ hours in and I still gotta check my underwear after I get smacked with a camper shotty or the armored hidden In the corner 😭
The Water Devils still scare the shit out of me
Fun fact, the katana is actually long enough to hit concertina armored grunts without getting bled yourself, if you space it right.
you can kill horses with a turned off lantern on the head
WHAT? That's awesome!
120 hours in the game and I learn about the diamond turning red when someone is in the boss zone when using dark sight. damn.
If you’re on my server, crouch walk everywhere with only your medkit in your hands.
best guide ever
Not sure if you knew as well but when you put out the butcher with a choke he’s always in rampage mode!
Does he ever reignite and calm down? This sounds like a great delaying strategy when assaulting into a contested butcher.
Pretty sure he only re-ignites if he gets hit by fire.
Old UI is so beautiful T_T
You can kill the crows of lanterns as well or even the fire crossbow👍🏻
Yeah, you can actually kill crows with a lot of stuff. Concertina Arrows, Explosive ammo, Decoy Fuses, etc.
At some point, I'll probably do a short video about every way that you can kill a crow.
I wonder if even using the louder methods is worth it because it doesn't betray the direction you're traveling.
@@HuntShowdownLab good point. I'll be waiting for the video :) I was the same way when I 1st played this game. Great work
I actually only knew lanterns and poison clouds, learned from someone who played the game for over 1000 hours so surprised he only knew those options. @@HuntShowdownLab
There's just so many details in this game. It seems like everyone no matter there experience has some 'obvious' thing that they never came across. That's a big part about why I love it!@@LeMicronaut
not sure why, but sometimes only the player who banishes gets the restoration instead of the whole team. do you know why this happens?
I’ve never had that happen, sorry!
If someone is dead dead, then they don’t get the bars restored and you need to red skull revive them with the bounty. But I’ve never had a teammate just miss out on a banish heal.
@@HuntShowdownLab to be honest, I might be straight up schizo and the other two members were always full health. Somewhere along learning the game, i thought only one person got restoration from banish, and i guess i never really looked into it. thanks!
Very nice video ، appreciate that.
Glad you liked it!
Great video!!!
Wouldn’t you pick Bulwark as one of your go-to traits? I feel like so many things in the game can explode and outright kill you, also dead hunters DO NOT miss out on banish restoration!
“The user interface is a bit of a doozy”
Well this aged like milk…out in the sun… in July
Me watching the entire video with 2000 hours in the game 👁👄👁
Same but its a really good video
at 13:05 this is not true actually. everyone, even dead hunters get their health back but the have to heal the health so you should still revive first. only exception are hunters that are red skull
500 hours and still watching for fun
If you’re new to the game, just go out there and do your best. Nothing will help you more than simply just experiencing the game and the playstyle. It’s a fast paced game but all so absolutely boring on the slow end. You’ll see what I mean later on. Unfortunately the game has little meaning outside of PVP. This game wouldn’t exist without that element and when you get into an empty map more often then not you’ll just want to extract and try again. If you’re a skilled fps gamer you’ll find the movement may feel slow to begin with but you can definitely speed it up once you get the hang of it.
nice video
Thanks!
nice vid
4000h hunt player here (and iam still a light weight with those hours)
i disagree that traits dont make a difference 95% of the time
kite skin, light foot make a huge difference in flanking
doctor, physician and iron eye are super strong
and necro alone can win you a match
you know: when experienced player meet each other they shoot 1-2 times and go for hard or soft cover
and try to flank
they dont stand on the open and keep shooting at each other
thats some 3 star stuff...
@@HuntShowdownLab
ah i see
yeah makes sense
Rule number 1:
STEALTH
What is that character in thumbnail? Looks badass
The coyboy is my channel mascot.
The hunter on the right is just a random free hunter from the recruitment screen.
The fox is the mascot for the guest in the video. (Giddy Fox Gaming)
@@HuntShowdownLab Big thanks for explaining 👍
450h in game and I still learn new things 😂
You didn’t include gatorlegs in the can’t go wrong list of traits but I’ll forgive you… this time
You and DeathByPewPew can go get your gater legs and hang out in a swamp. :P
Mostly I just had to end the list at some point, Gater Leg's is a good call.
It also gives you way more options if you ever got into a gunfight near water or need to chase bounty!
your thumbnail said you would talk about MMR. i heard nothing about MMR here as far as i can tell
This is my new play tips and tricks video. I think you must have been directed to the wrong video for some reason.
Here's the MMR video, but that was just a news update about when they switch to the new MMR system a few months ago. ua-cam.com/video/_T-3v1-jQQ0/v-deo.html
my teammates be like: 1:17
OMG the menu UI is awful. When I first started playing I was like "yep not dealing with this" and I just queued up haha
This is the way!
Dont be passive. This game is about pure aggression. Stay with your team. And stop shooting off yr guns
Has anyone seen rotjaw in the last few weeks
once. she's shiny now :)
Yeah I can’t do your other tips video if you give it .200 seconds to exist
I don't understand what you're refering to.
@@HuntShowdownLab I play I'm mh and hunt on PS4 and ps5. When I play in hunt I feel it is only port from pc. Setting, option navigation, woodygameplay, errors, bugs ect in console game is not to be happend...
I like hunt style and climat but rest.... is horrible, aiming on consol is a joke. And I don't say nothing about xbox cheaters. Crytek doing with that NOTHING.
@@Rzut-Oka I'm on pc, so unfortunately I can't relate to the console experience. But it sounds like it's bad in general on console. Sorry about that. :(
@@HuntShowdownLab people try to play that, and that game have the same count of fans and heiters.
If Sony or else from consol make escape shooter then player from playstation say 'good bye' but we wait for new engine will we see..
solo self revive is the most ridiculous feature
Rise Up Dead Man
Step one, crank up the aim assist and let it rip. Rip to the hardcore aspects of the game that is.
They actually just toned the aim assist down. Haven't looked too closely into the details since i'm keyboard and mouse but @impossibleironman had a post going over the details.
👍🤌
You gotta stop saying "mealy" weapons, it's may-lay
Emulator - Immolator. :)
this game got the worse matchmaking in history!!! not even worth the try
you're being melodramatic. but suit yourself
