Went there when my kids were young, they were in the process of phasing out the "O" scale display and starting the construction of the "HO" setup. Very impressive!

I've been to Chicago several times, but always on business. Next time I'm carving out some time to visit this.

You should go. I think the trains run too fast but it is a good source of ideas. Go when is best for you in terms of crowds. I prefer when it’s quieter.
Quieter Times. Although the Museum regularly has a lot of sounds, the following times tend to be less busy and generally quieter: February, May, September, and October. Spring Break (March/April), summer (June/July), and the holidays (November/December) are the busiest at Griffin MSI.

Impressive layout I shall visit it when we come over to see a friend of ours. To be honest I do prefer to your little village it is very much alive.

It can get crowded trying going at a less popular time so you can enjoy it without getting all the crowd noise.

Very elaborate but I'm a country boy and would rather be in a small fishing village.

I am like minded I prefer an up close and personal experience of a small Italian fishing village with a cafe and quirky characters.

The train speeds are not to scale though...way too fast.
