  • Welcome back everyone! In part 2 this video I take on the pouring of 2 part resin to create the canal for my Gn15 model railway. #trains
Here are a list of products I used and the Amazon Affiliate links:

I'm amazed at the beauty of your layout and enjoy watching the videos of how you create it. thank you

Thank you for your kind words. I fret over the design all the time. I consider the layout my way of traveling to Italy so I always ask myself what do I want to visit?

A great rescue from the dreaded leaks. Nerve-racking moments to be sure, but all worked out beautifully, so no need to “cry me a river.” Looking forward to the tree construction.

My harbor scene early in the construction was even worse so I was little better prepared but I should have leaked proof the river scene before the vegetation, instead of caulking gingerly in and around the tall grasses.

I'm glad you showed how important it is to seal every escape route for resin ,I've seen a lot of disasters with a resin pour over the years both by diyers and pros. I do enjoy the journey through the development of your village. The canal looks really good. looking forward to the next installment 🙂

Thank you. This was my third pour. This one and the first one resulted in leaks. It’s a struggle but the end result is worth it.

Resin has always scared me. I've watched too many videos where most of it has ended on the floor, or where the foam has melted due to thermal reactions and even where it hasn't set properly and remained tacky. This is why I use many coats of high gloss varnish on a painted base, with gloss Mod Podge or Heavy Gloss acrylic gel for the waves. All my boats and ships are made water line. Just making a 1/35 scale German river barge for my new layout ( based on the 1/160th Artitec Model). once completed I will start on the water for my layout

I love all the little scenarios on your diorama! Some years ago I tried a model product where you had to heat up some beads and pour... it just didn't work for me and I couldn't get rid of all the bubbles before it set! I resorted to my old method of building up layers of PVA, because it was N-scale and didn't require much depth of 'water' at the lakeside edge. I would still like to experiment, maybe produce a small diorama sometime, with a greater depth of 'water', and follow your techniques. 😊❤️

I was lucky enough to give those beads away to a friend a looooong time ago.

Nice comeback with very good results. I experienced this myself after making the plunge(pun intended). It was frustrating to say the least but I believe I recovered nicely because I had prepared for the worst. Unfortunately, I lost enough epoxy that I have to go back and add more. Thanks for sharing and I will watch out for your tree and vine video.

Timely video for me as in a few weeks I will be finishing my water scene. My only attempt years ago leaked and made a horrible mess. I wonder if you had used the JB weld first while attaching the Masonite if that would have stopped the leaking? Thanks for sharing. Dave
