- The Medina Railroad Museum has the largest HO Scale layout in Western New York, coming in at 204 feet long by 14 feet wide.
The museum's E-8 locomotives: • E-8 Locomotive Pair at...

Construction began in 2001, and is still in progress to this day.
The layout itself is an interactive timeline, displaying how transportation of goods in Western New York began with the canal in the 1800’s, and progressed to trains.
People who visit the museum are able to interact with different things on the layout through push button controls such as small trains.
Two six-track hidden yards are installed next to the center walkway and store twelve sets of one-hundred-car trains, featuring engines from various railroad lines as New York Central, Erie, Lackawanna, Pennsylvania, Lehigh Valley, Nickel Plate, Santa Fe, Erie Lackawanna, and others.

The museum covers railroad history from the late 1800’s to the present day. Various cases along the perimeter of the “layout room” display different artifacts pertaining to different jobs of the railroad.
Each railway company had their own way of doing things to their standards; with the rail line outside of the museum formally New York Central the museum tends to focus on the history of the Central Lines.
The building is one of the longest wooden structures built by New York Central, coming in at 301 feet long by 25 feet wide.
The current freight house was completed in 1905, and ran as a passenger station and freight for three years until the current passenger station (located across West Avenue) was completed in 1908.
They ran their storage and The Village Square Furniture store here, when in 1991 they decided to retire and put it up for sale and founder, Martin “Marty” Phelps, bought the property to begin the future of the Medina Railroad Museum.

Simply incredible
glad you enjoyed it
I cant guess how many thousands of hrs it took to build that, a work of art! One of the biggest and best in the country!
It would take a week for 10 people to clean all that track. That's one of the drawbacks to having such large layouts. It's an amazing layout for sure.
Incroyable !!!.
Would love to see this in person
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
Nicely done,,excellent layout,,great design and detailed work,,thanks for sharing,,😊
This layout is a real gem! Thanks for the positive comment

Thanks for watching!
Absolutely amazing layout
Superb!!!!
Used to live in Waterport and now in Rochester. This is always a fun visit.
Masterful artwork and scenery, thoughtfulness, realism and well thought out over time to reflect real cities, industries and customers on prototype RRs.
this very scare, my cat is sad
Wow that was amazing
imagine dusting this layout each week !!
I would think dust eaters ventilation would be great !
Don’t see many parades in these layouts. Nice touch!!
This layout has a lot of great details in it, including a ship yard.
absolut top die anlage---sieht man eher seltener bei den amis.
Yes, it is a great train layout
Phantastische Anlage. Wirkt alles sehr stimmig, wünschte mir mehr Betrieb
Marty Phelps gave us all a great gift.
At 83, I might have a conversation with him soon
Amazing indeed !
Super...love from India ❤
Hello and Thank You
Yup, DCC is the way to go. I've used DCC since 1993.

You wish to see a more dynamic and mountainous layout of approximately 1800 plus square feet Walnut Creek California railroad club. Puts this to shame as far as operation, scenery and CTC board. This is nice -but no comparing to that one. Size isn't always the best thing. You

Wow very nice! But... who has to clean the tracks?🤔 Lol
👍👍👍
Not a fan of large see thru “Union Station” train shed. Seems too big & out of place. Background “music” & noise sucks. Otherwise, quite impressive.
Is that navy ship a Corvette?
What-the-DynamicBrakes is going on at 1:41 with the log train? I actually checked to see if my playback was set to 1.5x speed
The trains are running way to fast on the layout.
Possibly enough room to model Bailey Yard to scale?
Was that Hyce behind the counter?
It looked like him, didn't it? I wondered that too, but he works in Colorado, not New York.
Annoying background music, should turn it off!
I like it
Nice but trains seem to be moving unusually fast.
a chronic symptom on many museum type layouts
So many levels!!
worth a visit when in this part of New York
I really Hate the Music 😢
GREAT layout, thank you! (but why are those C&NW freight F-units pulling a streamlined passenger train?!)
Absolutely cool!
thank you
Damn good hobbie
Balance the music. Too thumps and annoying. I lasted to 2.11 min mark
mute the sound and watch again ...
Just turn the sound off. All videos on youtube aren't going to be formated to fit everyone's taste. Grow up.
I added different music..see if it's better now
Annoying music
Different music has been put over the original
Ugh! Sorry the music is awful.
