Outstanding, thanks for sharing. Dave
Fantastic narrating voice.
Un gioiellino di creazione. Complimenti.
Fantastic !
La prima fila e stata applicata a rpovescio ciao
Grazie per averlo sottolineato, penso che tu abbia ragione
I've been to Chicago several times, but always on business. Next time I'm carving out some time to visit this.
You should go. I think the trains run too fast but it is a good source of ideas. Go when is best for you in terms of crowds. I prefer when it’s quieter. Quieter Times. Although the Museum regularly has a lot of sounds, the following times tend to be less busy and generally quieter: February, May, September, and October. Spring Break (March/April), summer (June/July), and the holidays (November/December) are the busiest at Griffin MSI.
The train speeds are not to scale though...way too fast.
Yes way too fast.
Very elaborate but I'm a country boy and would rather be in a small fishing village.
I am like minded I prefer an up close and personal experience of a small Italian fishing village with a cafe and quirky characters.
Impressive layout I shall visit it when we come over to see a friend of ours. To be honest I do prefer to your little village it is very much alive.
It can get crowded trying going at a less popular time so you can enjoy it without getting all the crowd noise.
Looks great despite the set back. Great job.
Lucky I had the epoxy putty handy
I'm glad you showed how important it is to seal every escape route for resin ,I've seen a lot of disasters with a resin pour over the years both by diyers and pros. I do enjoy the journey through the development of your village. The canal looks really good. looking forward to the next installment 🙂
Thank you. This was my third pour. This one and the first one resulted in leaks. It’s a struggle but the end result is worth it.
Nice comeback with very good results. I experienced this myself after making the plunge(pun intended). It was frustrating to say the least but I believe I recovered nicely because I had prepared for the worst. Unfortunately, I lost enough epoxy that I have to go back and add more. Thanks for sharing and I will watch out for your tree and vine video.
Working on realistic height trees!
Resin has always scared me. I've watched too many videos where most of it has ended on the floor, or where the foam has melted due to thermal reactions and even where it hasn't set properly and remained tacky. This is why I use many coats of high gloss varnish on a painted base, with gloss Mod Podge or Heavy Gloss acrylic gel for the waves. All my boats and ships are made water line. Just making a 1/35 scale German river barge for my new layout ( based on the 1/160th Artitec Model). once completed I will start on the water for my layout
Good recovery!
Yes it was! Unfortunately my rug paid the price.
Timely video for me as in a few weeks I will be finishing my water scene. My only attempt years ago leaked and made a horrible mess. I wonder if you had used the JB weld first while attaching the Masonite if that would have stopped the leaking? Thanks for sharing. Dave
Testing for leaks is well worth the time.
I love all the little scenarios on your diorama! Some years ago I tried a model product where you had to heat up some beads and pour... it just didn't work for me and I couldn't get rid of all the bubbles before it set! I resorted to my old method of building up layers of PVA, because it was N-scale and didn't require much depth of 'water' at the lakeside edge. I would still like to experiment, maybe produce a small diorama sometime, with a greater depth of 'water', and follow your techniques. 😊❤️
I was lucky enough to give those beads away to a friend a looooong time ago.
Looks very convincing. Well done. Peter.
A great rescue from the dreaded leaks. Nerve-racking moments to be sure, but all worked out beautifully, so no need to “cry me a river.” Looking forward to the tree construction.
My harbor scene early in the construction was even worse so I was little better prepared but I should have leaked proof the river scene before the vegetation, instead of caulking gingerly in and around the tall grasses.
I'm amazed at the beauty of your layout and enjoy watching the videos of how you create it. thank you
Thank you for your kind words. I fret over the design all the time. I consider the layout my way of traveling to Italy so I always ask myself what do I want to visit?
Right now I could use a break at David’s. Thanks for providing.
Thanks. That cafe is slated for a future interior detailing.
I don't know how this one slipped past me. Well, I guess I just took a journey into the past; if that's possible. Grazia.
Thanks for the compliment. Its fun building these structures. After the rural scene project I will return to buildings for the corner area.
Ah, my Friday afternoon sojourn. Grazie.
A very nice and graceful curve on your handmade turnout.
Thank you, code 100 rail through out.
Awesome! Always looking forward to Your videos!!
Thank you. Pouring a resin river soon but first making a figure to put in a boat.
@@TravelinginMiniature Making those little figures sounds super fun! :-)
meraviglioso
Grazie!
Delightful to see your excellent progress. I've been keeping an eye on your shorts and instagram so it was great to see the new scene come together. Looking forward to seeing how you go with the epoxy. I want to do a river edge too and epoxy scares me to death as I have had pin hole disasters in the past. I have to single out your locomotive driver figure as one of your best so far, he's ace. Keep having fun and know your little layout brings joy and inspiration to others.
Gosh thanks for the compliment. My first water scene (the dock area) was a disaster it leaked everywhere. I had no one near me to help so I lost half the resin. So my next pour was the seaside (the part with the fish) I caulked every inch of it and was rewarded with no leaks.
Well it's Saturday afternoon and time for a sojourn to relax with my little friends. Thank you my friend.
I am glad you are enjoying the stroll through Amalfitano.
Love it, great inspiration for any narrow gauger ....
Thanks, I am trying to create a miniature world that I would love to stroll through, maybe have an afternoon coffee at the cafe while the trains trundle by.
It's always a pleasure to watch one of your video's. Because of these videos, I'm now building a 2' Narrow gauge railway set in 1930's Germany in 1/35 scale as I like the Miniart figures and models. It's a nice change as I usually model in N scale (1/148). Keep up the good work as it encourages me in my endeavours.
That sounds so cool! I hope you share your work on UA-cam or Instagram so we all can get inspired and share info on period details. For example my newspapers are miniature Italian newspapers set in 1930s Italy.
Love this... you've done a masterful job with the scenery. It is well-defined and delicate. That's hard to reproduce in smaller scales.
Thanks for your comments. I used to model in N, HO and On30 for years. While I still love HO and N (i have to fight the urge to go back to it) this Gn15 is an opportunity for me to do something unique and immersive. These buildings really tower over me and I am 5'10"
thank you, I am grateful for all of your videos and look forward to seeing the new additions to your village. I find your rendition of Amalfitano, Italy humorous and insightful.
Thank you for your kind words. I am glad you enjoy it. Creating this little fishing village (and future vineyard) is an enjoyable creative outlet for me. The UA-cam channel is my way of sticking to it because I love modeling in many scales and I have to guard against distractions that will lead to abandonment and get nothing far enough along.
Love seening this village railway evolve 🙂
It is fun, I should have planned it a little more. The river is a little too narrow.
Always enjoy your videos. Thanks Peter from downunder.
Thanks my decal agent is from Australia teditor@bigpond.com! I am glad you like the videos.
Amazing, thanks for sharing. Dave
👏👍☘
Whas amazing about it. Take a look at Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg - they are truly amazing.
The Hamburg model railway is also amazing (especially the Faller car system). This model railway is a great reason to visit Japan. I was particularly impressed with the animated background.
That was fun where was this at?I have been to the Children’s Museum and Rail Museum in Nagoya which have miniature layouts as well just curious for my next trip.
It’s in Tokyo, it’s called the Small World Museum - smallworlds.jp/en/
This looks amazing! 😊
As a huge fan of Miniatur Wonderland (seen it twice- last time spent 5 hours there) small world was equally inspiring. I was particularly impressed with the animated backgrounds.
Very nice. Thanks for posting this. While it's not Amalfitano, it was enjoyable. Ciao.
It was inspiring for me. A lot of take aways. Curious if I want to do the animated background. Hmmmm.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing. Dave
Nice side trip. What cities did you visit?
Your loco looks very believable. The weathering, and the sound; Everything comes together to make it look heavy! (I'm a watcher)
Thank you so much much for your kind words
I prefer to set-up and run mine. Mind you, it's in a constant state of flux.
I think we all have model railways in a state of flux. Haha
As usual, I enjoyed my brief but very enjoyable journey to your village and its surroundings.
Thanks. Did you bring a bottle of wine and some prosciutto on your trip?
I have always appreciated watching trains in operation by others. I enjoy the modelmaking of the scenery and building structures with a railway feature running through. 😊
I think a lot of us spend time just watching trains go back and forth. I do slow my trains down a lot, it makes them more realistic, you can appreciate the sound as the engine struggles to pull the loads notching, and it makes the layout seem bigger.
The only thing I'd do different is use metric machine screws. The hex heads on your bike are almost certainly all metric
Great to see the new track up and running. The sea side location will be a nice counterpoint to your village. As for me I like just running trains. And having fun!
I think I enjoy the modeling aspect the most, creating scenes that remind me of Italian village life.
A nice journey that's very befitting a Friday afternoon. Thank you.
Thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it. I wish I could shrink down to 1/24 th scale to visit.
The idea with the mirror is brilliant
It always a surprise to folks when I point it out to folks.
Just stunning. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Thanks Dave! Having a good time working on the railroad
