Hey buddy! Sometimes when I'm struggling towards the top end of my range with lob wedge but am hitting the 40-60 yard ones well I'll hit more SW shots from the 80-100 yard distances with similar pace and swing length to the short LW shots. It helps to simplify your feel on course when playing these different yardages without having to have a ton of different shots. Only downside is that it makes you slightly less versatile, especially to front pins, but it can help bridge that hole in your game while you continue working on those baby full lobbers in practice. Keep up the grind kid! 💪💪
I use the clock method from Dave Pelz. Basically your feet are 6 your head is 12. Your arms represent the clock arms. So swinging back to 9 o'clock gets me a set yardage 10 o'clock so on and so forth. Utilizing the same pace with a full follow through. For me it makes it very repeatable and when the yardage your trying to get to is different than "stock" yardages it makes it very easy to dial it up a touch or back a touch.
Love the vids Andrew (especially your earlier practice routines, the chipping up-and-down drill has been HUGE for me...I've had my flight scope for some time and have lots of trouble getting it to register more than 5% of my shots at the range. Do you have any tips on how to set it up quickly? Do you use a tape measure or an alignment stick etc...???
Sorry to hear that man. I haven’t had those kind of problems so far 🤷🏼♂️. It could be a problem with selecting indoor/outdoor and the proper distance from the ball. If not, reach out to Flightscope and let them now
I had a mevo for a bit and had gotten it strictly for wedge practice like in this video. I had a heck of a time getting it set up and reading shots consistently. Yours looks much more consistent.
Love this type of video of how you go about your practice and what tools you use. Keep em coming! I have a question about the Mevo that I can't seem to find on their website. Does it have any "game" modes, such as giving you a series of random target numbers to hit for variance training? For example, hit a wedge 76 yards, then 59 yards, then 82, etc.
love this video, just what I'm going to with my son, thanks so much for taking the time to do this. Are you happy with the accuracy? comparing it to the big dogs?
I've thought about buying a mevo for probably a year. As far as getting telemetry on shots it seems to be the best option for the guy that doesn't have $5-20k to burn. Looks like good practicing by the way! I'm always on my best game when I drill shots between 50-150 like a mad man on the range. My GIR's go up and scores go down.
Its well worth the investment. I take it out on the course in Thursday’s video so yo can see more of how it performs. Pretty awesome of the team to pass on the savings to my viewers too👌🏼
I've bought one recently and was able to pay monthly and I could pick how much I wanted to pay a month or pay it out right. If your looking to improve your distances on irons, it's well worth it.
I love my MEVO but I always wonder about how ball choice (usually range balls) effects the numbers. The balls in your video look like range balls. How do you account the performance difference compared to your TP5x? Does the MEVO account for that in settings?
The mevo doesn't have a ball setting, but the range balls read pretty accurately. That being said, tomorrow's video is with my TP5x out on the course so you can see the accuracy there!
Great video Andrew. Wondering your thoughts on the Mevo when the ball speeds increase....I’ve read that they can become inaccurate with 3 wood and driver as the speeds increase....
It does get a little spotty when ball speeds are over 160/165. But tbh, that’s not the point of a Mevo. If you’re trying to dial in a driver, the big boy launch monitor is a must. But not everyone has 15k so 500$ for this is a lot of bang for your buck. I’ve made a couple other videos with driver and you can see for yourself how the numbers look 👊🏼
Andrew Jensen appreciate the educated response Andrew. I think I’m pretty safe. I’m 49 years old with driver swing speed around 105 so it shouldn’t be an issue. Thanks again Andrew. All the best.

Thats exactly how I practice with my mevo. The only difference is that i have 5 yards instead of 2 yards.
@Andrew, are you using the silver dots on the balls? I've read that they give more accurate spin and distances. Also, have you tried it with a net indoors (or a net period)? BTW, I just purchased one using your code. Flightscope made a smart move partnering with you. :-)
Haven’t tried it with the dots yet, and my only indoor experience was at HQ when I met the team there. The indoor readings were accurate as expected, and the dots may have added a little more precision to the overall numbers 🤷🏼♂️
@@andrewjensengolf Ah yes, I remember that video. They're not too far from my house in Orlando. That would be cool to check out. Good stuff. Keep these coming!
Having the right heel coming up fully and quickly for a half wedge shot seems much. One can chip with a five iron with an easy swing to 50 and 60 yards. Does one bring the right heel fully up and fast on a putt? Obviously not. On a chip, even a very long chip? Not really. A half wedge should not need quickly standing up the right heel fully. Quick fully standing up the right heel pushes up the right shoulder, and pushes up the head off the ball. When the right heel does not stand up so much (but with the right kneed still bending toward the target,) the right shoulder can turn low below the level of the chin of a still head going through the hitting zone, and thus extending the clubhead going low and through the hitting zone that is longer, resulting in accurate wedge shots. May try not using a glove like in putting to increase feel (if the skin is not too tender, or prone to blisters.) May try chocking down on the grip when in between wedges to shave off some distance, and or to gain a little more height of the ball. Consistently hitting the ball accurately and squarely on the sweet spot of the clubface increases consistency in distance on wedge shots, specially soft wedge shots. Shot wedge shots can be as accurate if not more accurate that long putts, as there are no breaks in the air (unless there is a very strong wind.)
On repeated viewing, it appears that when making practice swings (away from the ball,) the right heel came up a lot less with the head stiller, and the left shoulder turning back less than when actually hitting the ball. During the practice swings, the right foot rolls toward the target with the right heel coming up modestly (In one case of practice swings, the right foot was still without rolling, and the right heel did not rise up.) Perhaps, the practice swings were too easy going, but the unexaggerated right heel lift with the head staying down longer may be the more accurate and consistent for short wedge play.
Very minimal differences with irons, and a little more up in the woods. Thursday’s video is taking it out on the course with my TP5x’s, so you’ll see the accuracy there 👊🏼
@@andrewjensengolf I remember back in the day the range balls use to lose at least 15-20 yards so it would be harder to hit over the range. Not sure if they still do that or not but would be interesting to compare the distances on them
distance on range balls nowadays is pretty accurate to regular balls... they just spin a couple 100 rpms more (typically). Woods is where range balls will lose the most when compared to a regular ball.
Andrew Jensen range balls are typically much harder 2 piece balls and spin significantly less than a premium ball like a pro v1. You won’t see much difference with driver and woods because premium balls are designed to spin low off the driver but you’ll see up to 1000 rpm less spin with a range ball on irons and wedges. So you’ll launch a range ball a bit higher with less spin than you’ll hit a premium ball, so you’ll actually hit range balls further with irons unless they are the muted range balls designed to fly like 20% less but each range is different.
This is exactly the reason why I want to purchase the Mevo. No need for spending thousands of $$$ as an amateur. You really have me thinking now!!!!

No game modes on the Mevo unfortunately.
But something is coming from them that will 😉
Just curious....have you ever gamed 4 wedges instead of 3? Would smaller gaps make the feel shots a little easier to dial in for you?
I’ve always opted for the the 2 iron instead of 4 wedges. My 48° 54° 60° gapping has never really proved too hard to play with on course
I'm in the same boat but am highly considering weakening my 2 iron loft and strengthening 4 iron to ditch the 3 and gain a wedge. Thanks for sharing!
That's a great sounding solution!
Can always opt out 2/3 and go with 5 wedges =)

Yeah it’s great in accuracy. You can’t compare it to a 15k unit, that’s apple to oranges. For a $500 unit it’s the best in the market
Can you use the mevo with putting?
I don't believe so
@@andrewjensengolf Thanks So much.
How accurate is it compared to what youre actually seeing the ball do on the range?
the ball is doing what the device is saying it's doing. MEVO just doesn't have readings for left/right or roll after landing
