My first trip to NYC I stopped by Di fara and was lucky enough to have a pizza made by Don Demarco, he was so nice and literally talked to me for 10 mins about the neighborhood and what sites I should visit before I fly home. Incredible experience by an incredible man.
Sounds fun, how much was the trip?
I once had a pizza made by Mac Demarco
There you have it...
DiFara is a place where simpleton out of towners go to get what they think is "REAL NY PIZZA!"
@JC 1985 DiFara's known world wide even here in Italy...so it must be good. Why so miserable
@@teggianosalerno5050 Ohhh its so overrated. Its filthy too. Been shut down multiple times for health violations. I hope you get to try it one day so you see for yourself
Damn, remember watching this episode as soon as it dropped, hate to see this pizza legend pass away. I hope his family continues on with his legacy.
They would be incredibly dumb not to
Nothing cooler than seeing the current & next generation of pizzaiolos showing love and respect to their elders!!! Love that stuff so much. May he rest in peace, he will be remembered forever.
Forever is such a long time.
@@enkryptron it was a figure of speech... but okay he will be remembered by many for a long time... thank you for the great addition... 🙄
My favorite part of this video (and the original, obv) is Mark telling Dom to come by. You can hear the sincerity, reverence, and respect in his voice.
He looks part Asian. Someone in his family tree has some explaining to do…
Please bring back the long form version of The Pizza Show!
I went to DiFara for 50 years, passing on my love of Dom's brilliance to my kids. Dom was a joy to behold, a master of his craft and always so humble. We chatted often and the world feels a bit less without him around. Much love to Maggie and the whole DeMarco family!
Did he pass on his skills? I would love to hear that he did
I was lucky enough to visit Di Fara while Mr. Demarco was still alive back in 2018, during my freshman year of college. It took me about 2 hours to get there but since it was an early Tuesday afternoon there was no line. I just loved watching him as he made the pizzas each step of the way and I believe I was wrung up by a daughter of his? He had to take breaks every 15 minutes and sit down, but it was very inspiring to see his dedication to making pizza. It was easily the best slice of pizza I've had in my life, and was definitely worth the trip. Rest in peace Dom :)
Rest in Peace to Dom man. Sad I never got to see him.
I´ve been there in ´04 from germany. First time in the US, visiting new york was entering like a different dimension. Plus we need new episodes with mark and frank munching their way through the city. Perfect, blessed
Yeahhhhhh cmon vice these 2 hosts very good
DiFara is a dump
BRING BACK FRANK PINELLOOO
This
Yeah been waiting forever...
BRING HIM BACK
He’s chubby wubbie now
Oh so you don’t care about his child porn charges?
Don Demarco!!
Bang Bang
Best pizza I ever will have! R.I.P. Dom. But you never really will die. Because nobody will forget you.
The one and only time I ever had their pizza was when my brother brought me home a slice to Chicago. It had been wrapped in a napkin in his backpack for 24 hours and it was still the best slice of pizza I've ever had
My grandfather used to run a small pizza shop in my home town that everyone loved. He ran it for 40 years. At the final years of his life he would often say that he was so tired of making pizza that he would rather kill himself than make another one. Yet he would always make pizza for us kids. It was the best pizza ever, he hated making it and one could see the despair in his eyes every time he was preparing the dough but he would still make it for us nonetheless.
Because he loved his grandchildren!
Having lived in Brooklyn heights I’ve been fortunate to have been there many times over the years. Now that I moved away all I have is the memory of the best pizza in the world. So sad.
Miss the old man, RIP to the legend, made the best pizza in all nyc. Fresh ingredients, imported from Italy. Pricey but worth it. They opened up a couple more spots in Staten Island and the city but I haven't heard good reviews from people I know who've tried it. I don't like to judge when I haven't tried the new spots myself but I can guess why. Dom ain't there anymore, I believe his kids only work at the OG location, and the ovens. You're not gonna be able to emulate the original shop's pizza without the oven that has been used for 60 years.
It's the ovens but it's also the water that makes the difference.
He died the day the staten island place opened
Love this show man! RIP to a Pizza legend!!
Damn, I can smell the pizza through my headphones 🎧 😎
I admire men who take pride in their work, doesn't matter if they make money or not.
Dom DeMarco shall always remain America's Di Vinci of pizza. You will be missed by all but never forgotten.
Did u try it by any chance? I passed by it but the line was long.....I had Joe's n this rando spot I found that was pretty gud. But Joe's tasted classic basic(in the best way possible) cheese slice was heaven
@@danielportillo1349 i had it from him back in 2013. incredible and worth the 1.5 hour wait
What an absolutely pleasure to have a pizza by dom once in my life. RIP
RIP!! Pizza legend
I'm from Bensonhurst Brooklyn born and raised spumoni gardens luigis and di faras are my favorite places im lucky enough to have plenty of pies made by dom(rip) such a great man he's truly missed
His daughter truly loved and looked up to him. I hope I can try their pizza someday.
This warms my heart.
It makes me sad that I never got the chance to visit NY and try a pizza made by him, RIP Mr. DeMarco.
I'm always amazed when I see one of the "chain" pizza corporations still in business in NYC. There is so much outstanding local, handcrafted, food.
There's something about Pizza Hut man, I don't classify it pizza honestly, but I'll be damned if I can't ordered a whole pie and just work on a project all night shoveling that garbage in to my mouth. Nothing beats a real pizza tho.
Never underestimate the trash taste of people
Literal superstar celebrities couldn't skip the line but Mr. DeMarco has a standing invitation. That's respect
Damn I wished Dom signed my T shirt that man is a legend. He’s a master of at his craft inspiring so many others to create art of their own ❤️
God bless Dom's heart man. Hard-working class act. RIP to the Legend.
I love pizza. Been eating it my whole life. The best pizza I ever had was a few years ago and it was made by Dom. I did a pizza tour that day. Went to many places. Difarra tho was far above and beyond anything we had that day. No pizza has ever come close.
what a legend
I was lucky enough to taste difaras from the old man himself about 3-4 times and I will never forget the taste of that pizza. Brings tears to my eyes. This may sound silly but it might’ve been the best thing. Ever tasted.
I'll never forget coming to DiFara's for the very first time and having my mind blown. For YEARS it became at least a twice-a-month visit with all sorts of friends and family from all corners of the world. I used to live less than a mile from here. I brought people from Australia, Israel, the UK, France, and all over the US. We had waited for up to two hours ...until one day we became friends with Dom Jr (his son in this video) who used to hook us up and suggest seasonal toppings. RIP Dom
Dom was such a great guy. Always focused on his work but he would take the time to chat for a few seconds. He did what he loved until he died and his family continue his legacy.
I miss this part of Brooklyn! God Bless! Happy Holidays! RIP!
when he said before leaving try one bite please.. mark asking amicably for the ultimate approval of his unquestionable admiration for Dom standards and friend .. while him self producing an unreal pizza.
RIP just went three weeks ago pizza is still great
to this day, Di Fara is the best i have ever eaten. Dom is the man. he was always there . he is missed. he should be in the Mt Rushmore of pizzas
Best pizza ever! Literally to die for
Rest In Peace your a sweetheart ❤❤❤
One of the only regrets I have in my life is that I didn't go to Di Fara's more often back when I lived in Brooklyn in the early 2000's. I've only been there about 4-5 times, I should have gone a lot more. Best pizza ever.
Love the show, very East coast, good people and humor. I can't say enough.
This is how you show respect to your peers rip sir
We had the pleasure of Dom making our pie 5 years ago in front of us. We have a video on it, an experience we'll never forget.
How's the pizza these days? Still amazing? Di Fara's is always a stop I make when I go to NYC. I haven't been there in a few years though... Since Dom.
I went to Avenue J recently and it was . . . ok.. . . slices were small. I also went to the Seaport location this summer and the pizza was as good as it ever was.
@@cheesejadeitekiwifox Thanks, that was what I was afraid of. There shouldn't be any difference, they only worked beside him their entire lives
R.I.P❤
RIP Dom 🙏🌹🍕❤️
Best pizza in NY. And I have tried over 25 places in Brooklyn alone. He opens the oven spins the pies the place is smoking from olive oil. Then Big Don grabs the special hot peppers and throws on top! The flavor is outstanding.
Never had the chance to taste his pies but saw him on vice before and thought his pizza looked delicious.
Bring this show back
After the pizza show me and my wife traveled to NY and met the legend himself got a picture.. it was an honor
Rip Pizza Legend😢
MORE OF THIS MORE OF THESE 2 HOSTSSS WE DAMNDDD L9L
Di Fara pizza is the best I've ever had.
R.I.P legend ❤
I remember this episode. Rest in peace hopefully with a whole lot of ur own pies from over the years.
Rest in Peace
God bless you Don Demarco Love your pizza ate a whole pie mmmmm
RIP Dom
omg they're back!
Average Pizza chef = padawan
Pro Pizza chef = Jedi Knight
Italian Pizza chef = Jedi master
Dom Demarco = Yoda
Dom may you rest in peace
I was there. RIP
Bring back The Pizza Show!
I'm big on traditions. But DiFara should consider renaming it DeMarco. Absolute legend. Salute from Sweden.
Always watching from Georgetown Guyana south America 🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾🇬🇾
Aye yuh skunt yuh deh sum long ways deh.
A true American icon!!!
Rest in peace, Di Fara.
Rest with Pizza to a Pizza Legend
I was a jewish kid back in the 80s growing up in that neighborhood I lived a few blocks away. Generally we eat kosher and down the block from Defara is a pizza store called pizza time. Dave gave it a rating of 8.2. It’s also amazing pizza a Kosher pizza store, but we always went to Defara also when our parents were not looking lol. At the end of this video in the background, you see a store another iconic spot called bagel Hole. This bagel is legendary status! And there tuna is king lox and cream cheese amazing. If you want a great authentic pizza head over to Defara or pizza time? If you want an authentic Kosher Brooklyn bagel go to bagel hole! Can’t go wrong here. Avenue J under the train station! The neighborhood.
Wow! $5 for a slice. I’ve been away from ny too long.
yes the price is high. I buy frozen pizza from stop and shop and get a massive digorno pie for $5 when on sale. eating out is always gonna be against value pricing. I do love the dollar pizza in Manhattan though. incredible value freshly made too
He's right on the money- The Square is the BEST in NYC, and perhaps the best you'll ever have anywhere. No lie my friends. No lie
I’ve had pizza all over the city and all over the US (but sadly not in Italy itself) and I completely agree with you.
Is it in Avenue J in Brooklyn? Is it still good?
This was once the best in the city ... after the kids took over and the hype consumed the production, it feel off a little
There are many who took this mans technique and skill and made it their own...
But it was all about the sqaure, seriously ... the first time i had it twenty years ago changed everythign for me in the world of pizza
dominics a damn legend!
RIP TO THE GOAT!!
I live in North Carolina not far from the DiFara that Don’s nephew opened. He was not allowed to use the family name or connection unless he could replicate Don’s pizza exactly. After a lot of work he succeeded. It’s more expensive than any other pizza in the area but worth it.
This location has a mural of Brooklyn and New York painted on the side in a courtyard where they have outside seating. After Dom passed summer they they added RIP Dom to the mural to honor their inspiration and founder.
Since he’s no longer there, the food just isn’t the same. Not even close.
It's honestly sad to see how downhill this place is gone. I first went in 2017 and thought it was a pretty top level pie. Again in 2020 and then 2021, and both those visits were downhill. Given the price of the pie, I don't really think I'd go back. It's a shame, because Don was such a gem when i saw him. If you want a fancy pie, you're much better off with Lucali. Luigi's for the best value.
Omg 😲 I wish I was there but I'm from. Montreal and we got pendilas pizza 🍕 on cote saint luc just as good 👍
DOM DEMAARCOO
They are. And they opened up a Di Fara in Staten Island by me. Pizza nearly the same as in the BK spot.
RIP the king
As epitaphs go - this is a pretty good one.
IS THIS THE DUDE FROM THAT FAMOUS SOUND BYTE 🔊 DON DE MARCO
nah that's a DJ but I'm pretty sure that DJ's name was born out of this guy's name..
On one trip to this delicious dump the gent who drove us there was so excited he left his car parked and running while he jumped out to join the friends with him.
45 minutes later, after we sat and dined, he was fumbling for his keys when his wife realized the car, still in its' place, was running. He was that excited to be going there!
And Midwood was still safe!
RIP MASTER DOM
Life changing pizza
God bless this man
he's dead
Looks yummy
What Vice used to be. Long gone days
2016 was a era bro
Fun fact only place to get a 9.4 for a slice
and a 9.4 for there square by The PReZ
Yes yes yes. The best pizza ever!
I've eaten at Frank's place. Fantastic. Only gripe is you need 4 slices to get full
would be cool if international viewwers had a chance to watch old episodes of this show
Crazy the prices in NY
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
