Growing up in Brooklyn and eating pizza from 1976 to 1985, I had no choice to become a pizza snob (so much so, I don't even like some of the spots these guys rave about). When I moved to Westchester I couldn't believe a place so close to NYC could have such bad pizza. Now, all these years later, living in the Ithaca, I feel the need for a two week long vacation hitting all the "classic" spots. BTW, Mark talking about the stance, so you protect your sneakers was law back in the day. Especially if you were rockin suede Pumas.
There's just something about NY, whether it's the rumoured water or just an underlying quality that's been around for decades - the city and their pizza go hand in hand.
That crack is the most important part about NYC pizza that you can't get even at good places outside the city. A proper slice should form a hinge with a crack at the bottom.

I am sorry but putting red peppers on pizza is like putting sausage in sushi. Real pizza has only three toppings - Tomato sauce, Fresh Mozzarella and Basil. AND THAT"S IT. Don't put anything else like corn, pineapple or red pepper. IF you want real pizza come to Bulgaria.
