A sad day, a Legend has gone. People may just say it's just pizza but it's not just pizza it's much more. Rest In Peace Mr. Dominic Demarco. Condolences to his family.
True that! I make the shittiest pizza in the world, but I keep trying.
@@daviclar867 pizza is so simple in terms of ingredients its all technique. Thats whats so fun about it. Adam Ragusea on youtube has a good dough recipe/instructions if youre looking to try something new
@@leorickt.9604 Thanks! I'm gonna keep trying!
no I live in MA (Cape Cod) and even I was like "shit man..that sucks" - Pizza Legend!
wait, what? omg
One worthy rerun, everybody knows the rules. RIP Dom.
Dom was a dom and not a sub?
@@americannightmare2109 please explane. I have no idea what you mean
Proud to say i went to DiFara's and saw Dom and talked for a quick second years ago... RIP to the legend and yes, this pizza is freakin fantastic.
I hope it continues to be that great. I'm afraid we have to say "this pizza was freakin fantastic". Another legend left us. Thanks Dom for what you gave to us
i love how the guy explains how good the pizza is to be feeding to his dog. you can tell magic was coming out of that place. RIP Dom
Yes I agree, not bananas either
Plus he is a Mets fan in Crooklyn! An enemy behind the lines!!!
To this day the "yeeeaaaaap' still gives me chills.
RIP. Traveled to NYC from LA last month for the first time ever with my dad. We walked a pilgrimage from our hotel just to try out this pizza. We ate the whole pie right outside Di Fara's, amazing pizza and probably most memorable I've ever had.
Just writing here to note- had a rental car for the holidays and today was the last day, so I decided to drive across Brooklyn to go here and pick up a whole pie. We waited happily and patiently for two hours while watching them make about 30 or 40 pies, each one looked as amazing as the last. The crew was so passionate and committed. Worth the wait and then some. Best pie I've ever had.
RIP DOM! Glad I was able to visit the pizzeria a few times over the last 5-6 years… And it never disappointed. A true artisan, the world lost a real G. My condolences to the DeMarco family. May they continue to carry the torch and do Dom proud…
Impressive how even when Portnoy was in a horrible mood he still gave Difara his highest score to date. Dom’s a true pizza legend!
I’m surprised when Dave is high he can actually give an honest score. But definitely I’ll try this pizza. Even if it’s 8.1. I’ll be satisfied. Lol
Can you not give the score away
@@michaelfilauri8977 can you not read the comments before you watched the whole video? Everybody knows the rules
And the absolute worst mood like he fucking hates NYC
Others have tied it, not yeah
Dom was truly an artist , amazing since 1965. He would pull the pizza from the 600 degree oven with his bare hands and add the fresh basil and grana padano, and then look at you like , are you good enough for my pizza. We probably aren’t.
Beautiful reply!
This pizza is life changing. It literally expanded my mind on what is possible with the world of pizza. The man legit would have a watering can of olive oil he would direct pour onto the pizzas when they came out, and would take a basil plant and cut it with shearing scissors directly onto the pizza. RIP to a legend!
I'd dare say those two steps do not have much to do with how amazing the pizza was and is.
@@myco9253 Well you missed the point I was trying to make then. Obviously the quality of ingredients and the personal care that goes into each pie he creates is what made the difference. The man was a perfectionist and legit pizza artist, his craft was unmatched. How many places legit have the owner do those last two things for every single pie right as it goes out from the register right in front of the customer, with a line a mile out the door? It was the attention to detail he put into every single pie he personally saw go out to each individual. He made sure every single thing going out met his specifications precisely. That's what made it so good, he would not let his kids do anything but take orders and prep ingredients, he did everything!
@@11ghtning Yes, but you don't need to see olive oil and fresh basil to understand the effort put into crafting each pie. I'm simply saying biting into it is enough.
@@myco9253 Ok missed the point completely again but its falling on deaf ears. To each his own. Nice post edit btw
@@11ghtning I do get what you are saying. I just don't believe it as loaded as you are implying it is.
Di Fara is a 9.4 all day long. Sending love to the DeMarco’s.
"Hey Frankie I got you a slice " proceeds to eat the whole thing
Dave is one hell of an odd ball!
An absolute Legend Dom is, RIP brotha, you changed the pizza world, Love you all
RIP Brooklyn Legend and Master Pizza Maker Dom Demarco. May he rest in peace.
The square slice at Di Fara's is the best pizza I've ever had in my life, and I had just come back from Naples a few weeks before.
RIP to a Pizza Legend...
One Dom DeMarco...There will never be another.
I miss these old reviews and the old Dave and Frankie dynamic
Thoughts and prayers to the DeMarco family. 🙏🏼
Dave hasn't been the same since frankie left!!
Everyone knows the rules!!
Spot on
I was just thinking that, reviews aren’t the same. He barely ever said anything but you could tell Dave respected Frankies opinion with pizza
When did he leave!?? And why???
@@Rottenkirsche13 i think he got promoted didnt leave just check the barstool channel

Brooklyn, my home. Born and raised. We've got some great pizza!
Glad Dave agrees.
I’m not from Brooklyn but my wife is and as a native of Philadelphia and we have some good pizza I gotta give it to Brooklyn for the best pizza for sure!
One pizza legend, everybody knows Dom was the man.
RIP
Looking back knowing that Dom passed makes this review even better when the passerby talks about him directly. Great review, great pizza. RIP Dom.
I had pizza at DiFara's for the first time about 10 years ago. In those days Dom made every single pie himself. That first experience was honestly was the best pizza I had ever had. I live in CT but would make a special detour to Brooklyn to have DiFara's pizza every year or two when I was in NYC. I was there this summer and the pizza is still good but a little something has been lost since Dom's passing. RIP
Thanks Franky for being such a great sport about sharing 🔥 best review ever
Wow. Just heard. I remember before social media when it was another pizza place. A hell of a pizzeria but there were no celebrities just well loved pizza joints. In any event RIP. Dom was legend. I believe his kids will carry on the tradition. Hopefully maintain the same quality.
Awe man. RIP to the legend. Some of the best pizza I've had.
One Legend gone, one amazing slice, RIP Dom... Everybody pay their respects.
Crazy how a random Canadian dude has heard enough about a guy who cooks pizza in New York that I recognize his name when he passed away. Must’ve been quite a legend, RIP.
Glad I was able to make the trip to NYC to have this life-changing pizza before Dom passed away. For any detractors, or those who might’ve never experience it and might be in doubt, there has never been a better pizza slice ever. Might sound like an exaggeration, but it was as though I had never had real pizza before, and I was tasting authentic pizza for the first time. Everything else that led up to it was a cheap imitation. Just phenomenal. And I am not ashamed to say that I literally shed a single tear of joy that day while eating that pizza. Remarkable! When all Dave can say is ‘yep,’ he says it all.
Couldn’t have said it any better
Rip Dominic I’m so happy I was able to you meet and eat your pizza. The pizza legend of Brooklyn is resting easy
Truly a legendary pizzaiolo. He will be missed. Now he can sit up at heaven's tables and let them serve him.
Got the last slice on new year's eve this year. They slapped up a sold out sign right after I ordered. Best slice I've ever had.
That is awesome!
I was excited to get to see the man at work in the next couple weeks when I go to New York, but I guess I’m too late. Rest In Peace, condolences to the Di Fara family and the community.
NY/NJ is the only pizza reviews worth watching. That's the rules
New Haven as well
I met him and his daughter, there were really cool people. He's a legend.
Cool story. You met someone
@@americannightmare2109 true I was the daughter
I didn’t know pres had a daughter
@@karlferguson she's had it up there.
My wife and I were just wondering if you still thought he’s a legend? A quick response would be appreciated as we’re having dinner and waiting for an answer.
One Bite: "Here's to respectfully honor a legend, Dom DeMarco. God rest his soul"
Portnoy: "alright here we go Frankie, we're in fucking Brooklyn, east 15th in fucking Brooklyn"
love this guy...Keeps it real eveytime
Great review for Dom and his family. He will be greatly missed!!
Use to drive a fuel oil truck in B'klyn. Went past this place a million times. Never could find a legitimate place to park. I would have loved to try that pizza. I moved to Colorado, maybe next time when back in NY I'll get to it. To the DeMarco family my deepest sympathy. Italians are the best people. Arrivederci Dom.
Best pizza I ever had hands down. Rest In Peace Dom
Peace and Love Brooklyn NYC! Happy Holidays!
RIP Dom.
Condolences to the family.
My wife grew up literally right up the street from there I’ve had the pizza a while ago and it was the best pizza I think I’ve ever tasted in my entire life RIP to a pizza legend!
Damn, never got to get a pizza from Dom. Was on my bucket list for the next time I visit NY.
Grew up on 18th ave in Brooklyn , so I had some good pizza in my day. I live in Florida now I went back to the hood 3 year's ago during the winter , because of one bite I went straight to DI Fara Between the cold weather and hot fresh pizza it was like a spiritual experience for this Paisano lol! .RIP Dom and my condolence to the family🙏
Mr. Demarco was a legend, for many years he served me the best pizza. You will be missed!
RIP Dom.... a true Grandmaster of his craft!!! from chef Joseph!
Rip Demarco. That plate slide though man’s a professional
I am so happy I had the chance to have a pie from DiFaras while living in Manhattan. Truly the best I’ve ever had.
Flew from Cali to New York to try this pie back in 2019 and it was worth it. RIP to the legend.
Glad he was able to fight through that near death experience of a bad tooth to get this review in and land a high review while having Frankie around. If only Debbie had been there, could have been a high 9.
Prayers to the family and were all thankful for what he brought from Italy to us.
That's was great🤣
I was luck enough to go to DiFara on a trip to NYC for work this past fall where I made a point to try several of the top rated Portnoy Pizza destinations. It was a long subway ride from Times Square, but it was the best pizza of the whole trip. Rest in Peace Dom, and thanks for the heavenly pies!
Your ass better have went to Lucali's too.
RIP Mr. DeMarco. Your life is the stuff of legend. 🙏🙏🍕
Blessings to Dom’s family 🙏❤️ Once in a while the lord sends down a pizza god! RIP Dom. You will live on forever in hearts of Brooklyn and beyond.
you know its good when dave says yep more than three times
Rip Dom. A legend.
I dream of that square slice. Best pizza I have ever had in my life, hands down! RIP Dom! You will be missed but your legend will live on.
RIP to the legend Dom!! What a legacy to leave!!
When they score that high, go inside and let's get to know a little about them.
You got me wanting to fly to Brooklyn now.
One bite everyone knows heros are remembered, but legends never die
That "YUP" is iconic. RIP to a legend
As a Brooklyn native I am embarrassed to admit that I never got the chance to visit this Brooklyn staple. Hoping to get there soon but will not be the same. RIP to one of the best.
Overrated if you ask me, good pizza but it’s overrated. The regular slice, I haven’t tried the square
I could say the same, Pete. From Bay Ridge/Bensonhurst here, so I never ventured to DiFara. I have to get there.
Thanks Dom for setting the bar in the pizza world ,the best pizza in Brooklyn, R.I.P. Dom
Classic dave judging the guy feeding scraps to his dog while he force feeds scraps to frankie
That man's a legend he feeds his dog Difara pizza
A LEGEND!!! 🙏🇮🇹🇮🇹🇺🇸🇺🇸
Brilliant raw footage.. awsome we need more of this style . Keep up the good work Dave … come to the uk.. one bite everyone knows the rules
From Chicago, our condolences 🙏
Whoever did the edit forgot to add the part where Dave drops by Di Fara's after the pizza review at the jewish bakery down the road. He spends some actual time in the shop during that segment. RIP Dom
Notice how Dave said it's not too hot... Pizza always tastes best at room temperature!
RIP to a legend, you will never be forgotten
I grew up on this pizza place- and I’m 60! Slice, coke, and ices $1.25. It hasn’t changed at all. RIP DOM
Rip to the pizza legend
9.4 on a single slice?! Lord if it was a whole pie fresh out of the oven it would’ve been even higher.
I never seen him hesitate and throw a 9. To be exact a 9.4 without blinking!? And honestly I seen like 10 pizzas that look better than that! That must of been a outta this world pizza!!
The singles are usually reheated which crisps up the dough. For that reason I would say the single slices are more likely to get a higher score.
definitely! i waited 2 hours for a pie there and it was totally worth it
4 generations of my family have had doms pizza.truly the best
Legendary man. Great review.
One bite, everybody knows it's one of the best pizzas in the country
Just heard the news. One of the legends of pizza making . May he RIP.
Dave sounding like the guy from storage wars, YEEPPP
I've never been to New York, but there's just something about an asian-american born and bred in New York that makes me smile.
“I don’t know what this Italian place is doing in jewville” 😂😂😂 only Dave
I wish I could have a piece of that right now that fresh basil looks so good
My wife and I were just wondering if you still wished you could have a piece of that right now? A quick response would be appreciated as we’re having dinner and waiting for your answer.
@@wizcorn9958 always
Damn!! May he Rest In Peace. One of the best pizzas in all of NYC
I lost it when "Crusty old lady" popped up.
Rip Dom...the pizza king of NYC
Absolutely gutted I never got to try this mans pizza , an absolute legend and sending my best wishes to his family from the U.K. 🇬🇧
It is the greatest slice ever made. I have never tasted anything close to as good as it in my life. I’m sorry you never got to taste it.
For my brother's 40th birthday at rented out difara and Dom made pies for us all night. Best night of my life
Loved that spot back in the day in Brooklyn. Rip💯🔥
Outside of his infamous 10 Rookie Score, the best pizza in the world always comes from Brooklyn, a quick and easy DOUBLE 9.4, on cold pizza, everybody knows the rules
NEW HAVEN !!!
New Haven is the heaven on earth talking pizza. Doesn't mean Dom is up there tho
@@Private011 this is a video that’s three years old. Like thirty a pie lol probably being cheap
Alright Dave everyone knows the rules I need a job at barstool
the subtle move of dave handing everything over to frankie.
This hurts. God bless this legend.
4:57 they just ignore the three people who just got smoked off-screen there like it happens its none of my business
Def probably an amazing pizza but he also def got way stricter with his scores over time after trying so many places. I don’t think it would be this high of a score if he went there today for the first time
Ehh I think he got some of the legendary places out the way early. Still would probably rate di fara, John’s of Bleeker, and Lucali as his best in NY
Best slice in the city still his kids are keeping his place alive dom was a legend im from Bensonhurst born and raised 🇮🇹💯% his shop was exactly 2 miles from my family house and di fara and spumoni gardens are part of my memories growing up and dom was the nicest guy he didn't speak much but a great guy
Little Dom is doing just fine to keep the legacy going and, he loves good music 🤙
One bite no crunch, everyone knows this would be a 7.2 on a good day
You’ve never had it, poser. Some of the best pizza on planet earth.
