- The Retro Rides Weekender took place at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit. Here's a slightly disjointed report of what was there to see.

I was highly amused by the two guys seemingly grinning at the Ken Mary Skyline on 5 minutes - there seemed to be too little of the engine visible for such obvious delight. I assumed it was something more prominent!
I have to say that this report wasn't shambolic at all. It was extremely coherent and interesting...
Did you know Cilla black once owned a Nissan, cos it was a laurel, laurel fun!! 😉
Walks past a Mclaren to look at a Dolomite. That's why I love this channel.
5.00 don't see many of those about as the camera focused on the booty lol, certainly on par that one ian, the cars weren't too shabby ether
Hope I'm not the only one watching this and thinking, want one of those, and one of those, that too, definitely one of those!
Best car at the show hands down was the Alfa Romeo 164 Quadrifoglio in Red over Grey. Those were sold in the United States briefly before Alfa pulled out of the US market back in 1996. I also fancy the Lancia Beta coupe in white and the Volkswagen Passat Mark I wagon. Awesome footage of a wildly publicized event. So many beautiful cars.
Great video. The last red Ford was a Ranchero pick up
I do enjoy your show tours and knowledgeable commentary. This one no exception.
excellent stuff,,,although i may have to watch this video one or several more times ,just to make sure i didnt miss anything. No,not just so i can gaze upon the peachy behind at 5:00mins in.........HONESTLY !
I love the '70s Datsuns from 4:41. Absolutely brilliant.
Liked that sheddy Escort estate too and the Renault 21 with rather large wheels & wheel trims. Great stuff.
Thanks for posting this . I missed this event and I only live 10 miles away from there. Love that lowered Imp . cool
I’ve got to mow the lawn 😭
I’m going to quickly get that done
Then going sit down with a cup of tea
And watch this as my treat after
Love your laid back knowledgeable presenting style, a joy to watch
Terrific coverage HubNut, many thanks.
Great show report thanks Ian :) Don't worry about the video being a little disjointed. So many interesting, rare cars and listening to your knowledge about them is what made this video so enjoyable:) A little tip to help you stay out of trouble with Ford Fans, if a mk4 Escort is an RS Turbo as in this video it will have painted body colour B pillars, if it's an XR3i it will have black trim on the B pillars. The RS Turbo has bonnet vents too but many owners of XR3is have fitted these over the years.
Love the look of the "Tangerine of Terror"
Nice tour Ian, thanks. The series on the Escort of RetroPower is beautiful.
I also loved the Alfa 164,
Well done for getting so much fantastic footage of what looks like a fabulous event Ian
great video, renault 21 turbo was my favourite car there
TriHard
Drove one of those, (in red) back in the day (80’s) had a lot of torque steer when you put your foot down & quick, great entertainment
Thank you.. I've owned it about 4 months now.
@@iwannabentley wow im jealous, i want one in red
@@Luckyjo21 yes I was kinda lucky and stumbled on it, I recently repainted it, still got the roof and Bootlid to do, wheels are off being dipped and powder coated atm, hence why I was running hubbers. Its up for sale soon.
@@casualagent7250 very rare cars now, there's an even rarer 4 wheel drive "Quadra" version.
Am I right in saying VW briefly sold the Rabbit in Wales, calling it the Rarebit?! 😉
Or it was the choice car bought by Chas and Dave?! ...
What a mix, wow! And a Cappuccino! Definitely a show to visit. Thanks for the tour.
Astounding variety and quality at this show. I could cross all other car shows off my list and just do this. Amazing.
Another great video Ian. Some absolutely lovely cars👍🚗
3:46 Good God. That 2-door Jaguar is gorgeous.
Love that little Honda 600.... brilliant video, as always.
I'm only 8 minutes in and I'm having multiple eargasms!!! That white Saphire.... my gosh. That sound is incredible.
That “Hudson” fooled me for a moment too... ‘‘twas actually a rearranged ‘49 or ‘50 Ford. Splendid event, to be sure!
Hi Ian,what a awesome video, there is some nice motors here, cars that you don't see anymore,I enjoyed it.
Great vlog!👍 I once had a lift in one of those Datsun's. Probably in the late 70s & probably the cleanest car interior I've ever been in.
I'm definitely with you on the matter of rear wiper deletes. I still remember the sheer joy of getting my first car fitted with a rear wash wipe and thinking I had really arrived! I suspect that it's a case of the fox who lost his tail!
Great selection of motors and sounds, true Hub Nut !! Great video Ian 😉
My first car was a Ritmo 70, it was falling apart rapidly but great memories. And my third car was an Alfa 164, in quite mint condition. I'm a motorcycle guy really, but I have had such nice cars too... I do enjoy channels like Hubnut!
One of the best shows i have been to 👍 campsite was great too
Great vid Ian, thanks. I will never tire of seeing you blank the show off supercars in favour of the humble classics! In this case an orange Dolomite. Beautiful..... I remember someone telling me they got 150 out of a 21 turbo. Mental! I liked the stock fiestas. There were more than just the L you spotted.... Too many nice cars for you to mention them all I suppose. Good work my 'you tube friend'!
Oh and how many comments are there relating to 5:00 minutes in!!! Your subscribers are mostly 'red blooded' blokes! Bloody brilliant 😉
WOW!! A Fiat Ritmo / Strada, I haven't seen one of those in a lot of years. Never a dull moment at that show, always something to surprise you. I too was naming cars as they appeared lol......didn't get the Cedric either though!!
I love to see these cars shows from the UK! Amazing cars massive variety and beautiful scenery.
19:53 Two Land rover defenders sitting in the background just casually lol. In Canada "Oh WOW! look a defender!" In the UK they casually pop up as service vehicles.
Lovely and fascinating as ever.
Excellent as always Ian many thanks sir..
Gudden!! Enjoyed the shambolicness of it!
Great video Ian.. Thanks 👍
I'd love to Have been there. Thanks for sharing Mr hubnut
I loved that Anglia looked nice on the five and a half j rims, some nice imps.
Nice video! Kind of a Hub Nut eye view of the world😂
I’d have loved to see more of the land rovers but that’s just because I love them!
I also liked the Honda Beat!
Must have been a great weekend. Thanks, as always, for sharing👍👍👍
Fantastic bodywork at 5.05
Thanks for the tour 👍 So many great cars and a few Fords.
No Aston Martin DB5's though? 😔
@@klwthe3rd Maybe next time...... I was a bit busy. I hear Aston is making 25 gadget working DB5's but they won't be road legal.
Strange just checked your channel literally 5 mins ago to see if I missed any uploads..... Then as if by magic you read my mind lol
Great video as always, loved the white mk1 opel kadet a rare site these days.
Great selection of cars and seems a good w/end
loved watching better then tv and that black astra mk2 was nice. some really really nice car's golf mk2's are sweet
cheers Ian, really enjoyed that :)
Thanks mate, can't wait for you to take the fox to an event. All the best
I think most of the Lancias friends rusted away in the 80s and 90s...
Oooh a Bluebird Ian. Mine was different though, mine was a V reg. Loads of lovely cars on here. Xx
Lancia Beta Coupe - It's friends rusted away :-) . Brilliant selections of cars only slightly diminished by the lack of gimbal and unwanted music by Mr Smith !
Ritmo in Ireland too, possibly column change in the dash iirc from childhood
Always floor change on these as far as I know.
Ah we had so many crappy cars the memory gets foggy hubnut
@@What..a..shambles You Tube ...FIAT STRADA "HAND BUILT BY ROBOTS......Who needs a "pair" of wing mirrors anyway ?
The Ford Cortina MK2 what a beautiful colour
Great video..so good to see such a variety of cars. How funny would it be to own a Volkswagen Rabbit! 😂
Is it to early to do a vibration joke???
at 23:23 it is Onslow in his Ford Cortina, with a PTSChieuw from the exhaust at the back (black smoke) it was hilarious always!
Another awesome video ian, just gets better & better.
Especially liked the ford anglia, ford escort rs turbo and the opel astra's.(:-)
I bet i will never see a mk2 astra sri 1.8 3 door in bordeux red again like i once owned.
The same colour as the mk2 astra 2.0 gte 16v
200,000 miles on original gearbox & clutch and still perfect as well.
G304 EAJ
I sold it to a prison officer that lived in west yorkshire in bradford i think and he wanted to use it for track days this was back in 2004 when i sold it him.
Extremely rare now probably none existant in this exact same spec.
I have seen just a handful in blue and bright red but not 3 door bordeux red.
Always wondered if it still exists.
Great vid .....thanks
MISSED THAT AWESOME UNMOLESTED BMW 328I MAN! IN THE PADDOCKS
Never noticed how similar looking the Lancia Beta Coupe was to the Audi 100 Coupe before.
Great video and cars.
Look at the throttle bodies on that!!!!! ooh er maitron straight out of the carry on films. made me chuckle....
The Austin A40 is an Austin A55 but I bow to you knowledge. Awesome
Yes, brain a bit slow on that one. As a former A90 Westminster owner myself, I should have done better!
just brilliant you really need to introduce Crafts. Cheers
11:47 That 2002 is on hydraulic suspension! Not the kind which makes cars dance, but the pre-decessor to air-ride. :)
Have to admit, that random McLaren 720S (I think?) after the Landy at 16:05, those are rather tasty looking supercars, I know I primarily like classics, but, even the best of us has a lust for such a thing... :D
I was watching DriftWorx channel yesterday and they were there. They're their cars in the thumbnail 👍🏻
Datsun 180B coupe yessssss
Not One Saab Turbo !!!!!!! Discrace 😀
The reason FIAT didn't use the name Ritmo for the UK, was because market research carried out before the cars launch indicated that most people questioned thought the name sounded like a lawnmower.
Nice old cars 👍 🇫🇮
I saw Tuck on the Retropower Gordon Murray escort video from Goodwood
Hi hubnut a fantastic video of some really delicious cars mate and what about the exhaust note on some of them! Looks like you had a fantastic weekend.keep up the great work.
The Hudson was actually a 1949 Ford. We got Fiestas but they all had the 1.6 Kent engine and were considered bog slow. Too bad this was before we had learned to appreciate anything that gave more than 10 MPG. We also got the Renault you were salivating over as the Eagle Premier. Nobody wanted one since neither company involved (Renault and AMC) would put their name on it, which indicated they were only temporary and to be shunned. We were right, although I must say that the best seats I've ever had was the pair of Renault Alliance buckets that replaced the ones that fell apart in my 1976 Datsun B210....
Those Transit ambulances were 3.0 or later ones 2.9 V6 !
I guess here in the US we have Redwood, a kind of traveling show where people can show off their 80s/90s cars. I'm assuming the name is based on the original Goodwood event?
I was daft and stupid to get rid of my 3.0 Alfa 164. Best car I have ever owned.
Yeahhh.. My R21 Turbo 👌👌
If my memory serves me well, when the Nissan Cedric was introduced to the Australian market, Australia advised Japan that Cedric was Australian slang for a male homosexual and Japan may want to change the name of the car. Japan enquired if there were any Cedric/male homosexuals in Australia, and Australia said, " Yes, loads of them". Japan replied, " So, what's the problem? ".
1:24 - The E30 M3 belongs to my mate Wayne, it has a re-built LS1 V8 paired with a sequential racing gearbox and an up-rated diff, but some rather interesting parts besides including custom made and designed centre-lock wheels! The interior is rather special too, with all panels (including the full dashboard) recreated in carbon fibre. It really is something else. Lovely car.
Did you mean to say "it certainly didn't sound very good"? Haha
Oops. Misspoke again!
I went to the very first RETRORIDES 2007 at Mallory Park I’ve no ide why haven’t been to another and really need to make the effort to!
And woohoo for a volvo 940
Elly was on track at that one. Fun times!
I enjoyed the standard cars though!
Impressive Renault Megane rear end on 5.00!
1:33 You forgot to say the famous "Princess Anne had one of those!!
That's because I used to own one. ;)
I said it. 😊
My first car was a ritmo and it handled like a pig. Great engine but very temperamental in the mornings if it was damp out. My second ever car was an uno in beige 903cc which I crashed after passing my test. Then got an uno fire 999cc and put 100k on it, brilliant little car.
So recent, yet so long ago!
Definitely a massive variety of cars there, would be nice to see more in stock condition, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose... :)
Looks at great event. So next year I expect to see a fox ann there.
I may not be in the country next year, but there is the Retro Rides Gathering in August. Foxanne or Elly will be there.
Sorry Hn, at 17:00ish, that was an A55 Cambridge
Excellent. I was about to give up on the internet tonight. Hello from New Zealand!
A race track that's strict on noise levels of the cars ,That's nuts !
Not uncommon. Thank NIMBY idiots who move near race tracks, then complain about the noise...
Looked a great day with lots of nice car's looking forwards to more vids.
Varooooooooom.
I wonder why, there weren't any rover p6 or mk 3 cortina.😙
Anyone got any love for an Opel Manta GTE? Alfa 33 Cloverleaf?
Quote of the video...
"Look at the throttle bodies on that"
