This was probably your best video. Everybody was pretty funny.
21:14 when be was talking about the .6 intervals was halarious
Oh yeah dude I thought it was halarious too
“In this case longer is not better Andre.” - Roman 😂
We are begging you...please use the Raptor and the TRX for their purpose and give us a desert run showdown! Hit the sand and race them, jump them, something lol.
They'll never do it, too afraid of breaking something. 🤣😂
Exactly!!! Some mud would be nice too!
Exactly! It's all about the right tool for the job, and those trucks are not made for this type of trail. Bring them out to the open trails in the desert out there, then really let them do their thing.
Bingo!!!
They had a video already and they pick the Ford, because it's lighter and carves better when going fast
Raptor in 4 low: single digit miles per gallon
TRX in 4 low: single digit gallons per mile
Still a big diff if we're talking 1 MPG and 9Mpg lol
@@erich1880 you missed what he said he said gallons per mile like GPM not MPG
Lmao
Fun fact regarding the Gladiators hill crawl control speed intervals of 0.6mph: It translates to 1kmph increments in Metric, the standard of engineers 😅
Metric is the standard for the whole world. Except for the USA and Nigeria
@@timber543 thats racist
Who cares about ENGINEERS??? Not the Real World…..
Engineers. The worlds dumbest smart people.
Carwow stats
Roman: awe man we gotta be careful with these expensive trucks
Tommy: LeeeeeRoyyyyyyyy Jenkinsss!
LOL!
Nathan. Tommy. Andre. In that order on who I know is gonna make a good off road video.
Haha!!! This is hilarious. lol
At least I got some chicken. ;)
That’s a dumb comment! You don’t even make any sense. This comparison was just stupid..
Roman after 3 defenders: “We’re not testing for reliability”
I’m not sure why he would say “after 3 Defenders “? They bought the first one and the engine light came on . Agreed not good . LR did replace the vehicle with an upgraded model . The second vehicle was fine but a mechanic at the LR dealership destroyed the wiring harness while attempting to install a winch . I would not say that was a Defender fail ? And now they are on there third vehicle and it is performing perfectly. I keep hearing on this and other videos the number “3’” . To be fair I think they are technically on there 2nd Defender . That being said I love these guys. Best on all of You tube!!
@@Chopperbob56 they only got such good service because it was so public.
@@saliston I’ve owned 4 land rovers in my life. Yes I’ve had the occasional issue but never been stranded. I’m a wildlife photographer so I give em hell. Yes I own the new P400 and I can honestly saw it’s the best vehicle Lr has produced. And yes I agree that the guys at TFL got special treatment . However I’ve had special also. When I need service they come and get my vehicle and leave me with a new loaner. I’m 30 miles from the dealership. So yes absolutely I agree with you but LR really has treated me pretty dang good over the years.
He will defend the Defender at all odds. There is no denying he loves that thing. But no one else does.
@@Chopperbob56 most of these salty Toyota fanboys have a distinct inability to count properly. 😂
"one gallon gone, two gallons gone... oh going downhill saving fuel..." ROFL great video!
Where’s Nathan and the love of his life, the Power Wagon?! This is what it is made for!!
TFL should do a long distance endurance test off road with the Raptor and TRX, maybe 100 miles or something. That might highlight a day of real off road use rather that just a couple obstacles. Same driver, fatigue, weather, fuel economy, shocks, ride, everything would get a nice test. Does anyone else agree?
Mojave road would be a good one for these two, not hard, but a lot of wide open areas.
definitely agreed. this test was weaaaaak.
Yeah I agree, especially since this is _not_ what the raptor and TRX are meant for, they're both a racing and trail truck, not a crawler rig like the jeep
Roman be like over 700 horse power guys!!
Tommy be like one gallon gone, two gallons gone!!
The best thing about this vid? The toupee is gone off of the Raptor!😁😁😁😁
Lol god that was ugly haha
You guys REALLY need to move on from considering Moab to be the only Off Road terrain, it is actually some of the easiest terrain for off-road and plan to test further east terrains like Tennessee, Windrock off-road park for example. Less grip, more wheel spin, more challenege.
They're based in Colorado.
Yea, they took an old Subaru through this. Let's see some mud slinging. You aren't off-road until you can't tell what color the truck is.
@@JahyMoonwalker yeah but Andre has a CDL, time to load these rigs up and hit the road
Or you know, maybe just not use one of the easiest trails in Moab. There's plenty of challenging trails that can put any vehicle to the test, they just choose not to use them.
TFL, please stop comparing apples and oranges, rock bouncers and prerunners. The Power Wagon is better suited to be tested against the Jeep. Take the TRX and Raptor and desert run them like they were built to do!
They are just having fun but I have to agree
I think I remember them taking the power wagon here and I'm pretty sure it did worse than literally every vehicle here
Just goes to show how multi capable TRX is. Good off-roader and wicked performance road warrior combined. Everything one could want in single package.
Tommy has got all of the jokes in this one 🤣 This has to be one of your best videos. The humor and the flow was top notch!
How is the power wagon not in this... it’s literally built for this.
Or the Wrangler.
ikr the defender's here but not the power wagon lmao
I think I remember them taking the power wagon here and I'm pretty sure it did worse than literally every vehicle here
The FJ Cruiser. Unmodified. Just as much off road capability as the modified Jeep and the most reliable. And no issues using it everyday.
How it is very close between the two, the Jeep is slightly better off-road just because of its ground clearance and front and rear lockers. Fj has only a rear locker and worse clearance but still a very capable off roader. However, the fj will last 10x longer than the Jeep which makes it better in my eyes!
The ultimate show down was WW2 . The ultimate defeat of Tokyo Toyota
The Raptor is better value for money compared to the TRX tho. Reasonable mpg, has cameras, sunroof and only marginally slower.
Easiest summary between the two:
Raptor is refined even to be your only vehicle, daily driver, family hauler, etc.
TRX is a great option if you can afford it as a weekender, you have multiple vehicles and an efficient daily driver.
This is a great example of what you guys do really well thanks and keep 'em coming. Plus I think extra brownie points for persisting with the Defender despite all the mishaps and showing it is a really great option (even if it is really expensive and will never satisfy those who are big original Defender fanboys and girls)
you can hear the gas rushing through the cylinders hahaha! that's how i feel with the power wagon offroad too lol!
Defender hands down and from what you brought its most impressive.
The design of the Jeep, and all similar vehicles, is specifically tailored to offroading, no matter what people say. Observe, the primary design purpose of a pickup truck is work: hauling and carrying. As their usage became more popular the manufacturers had to accommodate and adapt the vehicles to secondary and tertiary capabilities: hauling (more) passengers and towing. While this TFL test is a wonderful test designed primarily around rock crawling, it is neither the only version of offroading and it is scewed in bias of the Jeep. If you feel like levelling the playing field take your Jeep on a real Baja fast run with the Raptor and then average out the overall performance. Do this with other "tests" for a more direct vehicle-to-vehicle comparison by: load each vehicle up with passengers max, payload, etc. ... then you'll have more direct comparisons. Any test that primarily revolves around rock crawling is naturally scewed to the advantage of the Jeep ... that is not unbiased nor thorough testing. While the Jeep may generally have a rock crawling advantage, with respect to tall, wide, broad people they are terribly uncomfortable. Expand your tests and you're money TFL ...
This is an excellent comment and TFL should take it to heart. Some of their videos are starting to get a little repetitive to be honest. Expanding their content to more creative, serious and indepth test would be beneficial for all.
@@canyonero2050 they have done this same video like 10 times by now and everyone is just waiting for the desert run.
No one cares about Baja. Most people don't even take them off road. And if they do its not Baja style. What are there 4 states with actually Baja terrain? Lol
Let's not forget the Jeep has, what $15K of aftermarket parts to allow it not to get beached on this trail.
3K and still cheaper than all 75% of the other vehicles....
Was just gonna say the same thing. A simple $3000 gets that jeep more clearance, and the added weight of that truck bed cargo should hinder it, but it still barreled through.
Don't hate. Jeeps are made for this kind of thing. 😁
Now, baja off-road on the other hand...🤯😅
Having done those trails in a mostly stock ZJ it was fun watching you guys doing them in the expensive machines. Thanks for the entertainment.
Great video I loved it ! Thank you guys for keeping us entertained and for testing this glorious giants. It is definitely hard to choose a favorite one after all the capabilities shown on this video of each one.
Part 1&2 were awesome! The TRX is nice, I gotta go with the Jeep! Defender was nice, not proven reliability though!
the trucks were make for desert running not rock crawling test them there
"I'm about to have a cow". 🤣🤣. That is tee-shirt material right there. You guys are killing me.
Loved it! Tommy's running fuel rate comment on the climbing TRX was priceless!
Just wanted to praise you guys for the quality of your videos, especially your drone shots. They look magnificent.
Wow This was an awesome video! This is Top Quality 👌
Keep up the great work!
TFL ought to put together a video addressing the high tech live valve shocks “required maintenance” according their owners manual to satisfy the warranty requirements. Bet you the cost will be SHOCKING!
My first maintenance is at 15,000 miles on my Defender. I can take it to any garage or do it myself. It’s actually against the law in the United States to require that any vehicle be serviced only by the dealer . I’ve had 4 LRs in my lifetime and never have I had any to the dealer for maintenance. Also I have never been ask for proof of the above to satisfy warranty requirements.
Guys, what a brilliant production, enjoyed two mugs full of coffee watching this! Great job!
guys this was done well and the humor calmly executed. keep the humor in your videos.
"A Billy goat on Red Bull" yesss, I am stealing that one!
All trucks were amazing but there is an Easy answer to this question, which truck can go places the other cannot go? The answer is Gladiator. Plus, it’s such a good Overlander. Coming from a precious Wrangler and Tacoma owner.
Love the video guys. As real world off road as it can be
Really like where this channel is going. Tommy with his banter reminds me of old top gear. Keep this going
been watching you guys for years now and i like the content that keeps coming out
Thanks for the laugh at the end Tommy! The music and the cough had me dying!
I would have like to have seen the Power Wagon and the Colorado ZR2 in there as well.
Hope there is a part 3 coming with Power wagon, tremor and AT4 heavy duties, then a winner takes all with the top from each segment. Keep up the good work guys.
Nice one folks...👍🏼love the scenery, the cars and the funny moments!
Wow, incredible, epic job guys, million thanks 🙏 !
Great production value! You deserve more views on this!
I wish we saw more comparison in different trail conditions instead of a Approach vs Departure angle test. I know they dont design these vehicles to try to see who has the best angles. It would of been cool to comment how they handle in dirt, mud, sand, rocky terrain, and speed on dirt trails.
you guys were cracking off beauties this whole video haha! great way to start saturday!
Amazing video folks, way to go! It was so good that i ended up watching on my 65" screen tv instead of my cell. :-)
Would like to see some loose dirt hill climbs and mud testing
Hey Roman! Tommy is right, the Jeep hasn't broken, Defender, if you can keep it on the road.
love these videos, waste far too much work time watching them. keep up the great content!
Damn that TRX sounds good! Great Video.
by far best boys' toys channel! Fantastic content! can't wait for (if it comes) new Grand Cherokee trailhawk.
awesome video guys. it's pleasure to watch. 👍
Great video! Proud owner of a 2020 Gladiator Rubicon!
Hey guys love what you do keep up the great work. Just gonna give my opinion, I just would like to see you do comparison with standard 4x4 trucks again like the the Z71, Fx4, Frontier Pro 4x you get the picture for us blue collar folks.
Raptor vs TRX Baja Mode Racing ( Sand.. Whoops..Jumps ) you guys are the best by far so you guys know you have to make this video !! 💪🏻🤙🏻
Defender is the only one to tackle the trail without damage... But the Jeep wins because it has a bed?? Wut.
No brainer who won! Defender 😱
They all won. They all completed this easy test. Judging trucks by who’s tail pipes rub the ground is crazy. It’s more a test of tire size than performance.
True... off road test should be about suspension flex and traction, not exhaust pipe touching. Which can easily be cut back.
Really great 2 part video guys
... Ram didn't pay you but you didn't have to pay a mark up like everyone else looking for a TRX... plus you were the first to take delivery of one.
I love my gladiator. The other 2 are also great and would love to own them also.
Roman-“When In doubt throttle out!”
Andre-“NOOOOO” lmaooo
fantastic test and video.. you guys are top blokes
Please do a Raptor, TRX, Gladiator Mojave comparison. High speed run, maybe leave the ground a couple of times. I’m really interested in how the Gladiator Mojave would compare.
The defender towing ( bahaha) that vehicle will be ten times more likely to be towed than doing any towing.
I’ve been towing with mine and towed my 6k lb airstream behind my LR3 all across the US but nice dig.
This was a great video! I'm with the Defender. It's great offroad as well as a daily driver in town
Loved every minute of this 👍🏻💪🏻
The Toyota was too heavily modified to even be considered.
I agree with Andre and Tommy: a Rubicon, be it Wrangler or Gladiator, is simply the best off-roader on the market.
The TRX is too big, too powerful, too heavy, and obviously too expensive.
The Raptor is better than the former, being lighter and with better off-road tech and equipment, but it is very wide and calls for steep prices.
The Defenders demand respect, but reliability is iffy, and as soon as you climb up the specs trims and options, you can quickly hit $80+
The Gladiator it is. 😎👍
p.s. ....and Iveco Daily 4x4 would have been a nice addition, those things are popular in Australia, true off-road monsters! 😁
The gladiator in its stock form I don’t think would’ve fared as well as the bigger trucks in their stock form. Gladiator had a 2” lift and 35” tires
Loved the “One gallon gone. Two gallons gone.” 😂 #AboutThatTRX
Andre: Well you're the hippo (walks away) 😂 Andre is the best!
Y’all definitely should try a Ford ranger and Chevy Colorado and Toyota Tacoma on this trail and maybe modify versions of them models too that would be a great videos
Toyota would walk all over them
Besides individual parts they are all pretty close across dirt and mud trails except Toyota’s crawl control at the price point supersedes in the truck category.
The ranger would beat all of them
Lololllll there are quite different means of 'off roading' crawling is quite different than Baja! Maybe if you put them in their base environment results would vary...
another fun video! be safe in that snow Colorado!
God I love those videos, the scenery is everything!!! Basically my dream job
Awesome video series!
Great video! Would love to see how they all handle in deep mud through the woods though... thats real off roading!
Truck King took a TRX through some deep snow in the woods!
@@trailrunnah8886 gonna watch now!
@@gokufighter21 awesome! It's becoming my favorite channel for truck stuff, they have their own property and they really do take them out.
HELL YEAH, BROTHER!!!
You guys really know your Sh..! Thanks for your review.
someone count how many times Roman said SLOW SLOW SLOW lol all good, he just doesnt wanna miss the action
Great video. Can't wait to see how the new Tundra compares.
a very good departure & Break over & Approach angle test !!
I loved this video! I legit laughed out loud several times
Might not be a Baja Desert run but fun to see the trucks out there on the trails.
9:48
Tommy that had me laughing for real.
LOLOLOL. Funny because it's true.
Another good review gentlemen.
Tommy yeeting the gladiator down that rock was glorious
IF I were to have 1 of these vehicles to do it all, Tommy once again picks the perfect well rounded choice. Which is why I picked it for myself 2 years ago. :) It is reliable, capable, comfortable, practical and resalable. 4Runner every day of the week and twice on Sunday. And no, I am not a fanboy. But one cannot argue the facts. I want to say the FJ is the way to go, but I had that option and it was not quite as refined for everyday driving.
I watch a lot of your videos and normally I do not Comment, but when Tommy went down the butt scratcher and said” I did not even scrape” I’ll absolutely die laughing,
That was great guys I thoroughly enjoyed it.
21:41 If you convert those speeds to KPH it's 1, 2, 3, and 4 KPH (MPH rounded to the nearest 10th). 👍
.62/1.24/1.86/2.48/3.1
Jeep is owned by FCA/Stellantis whatever now, so that makes sense.
This was one of your best videos so far, guys. The Trx is a beast if you have the money to feed it. If you wanna play the offroad game, just buy a two door Rubicon and you won't regret anything. Especially if they come out with a V8 soon.
So... Defender is:
- The best off-road amongst the 6 vehicles, no scratches, smooth etc etc.
- The most technologically advanced amongst the lot in terms of off-road and other gadgets
- The best looking amongst the lot (as the video said, it can live in New York, Beverly Hills or Moab)
- The most advanced engine amongst the lot with it's supercharged and mild hybrid engine.
- The most comfortable amongst the group
Very obvious reason why it wins on paper and in real test!
Land Rovers are no doubt the best stock off-road vehicles on planet!
I freaking love this channel
WOW! So many complains. I enjoyed everything, I liked you used some vehicles to go where it's not supposed they would go... well done! Thank you very much!
All these trucks are way to big to ever be considered the “world’s best off-roader”
I was just thinking the same thing, Jeep is good though. The full size trucks can be a little too wide and heavy for certain trails.
My suzuki samurai agrees...
In all fairness, the Defender killed it but a stock 2 door Wrangler Rubicon would have as well, and for far less money than anything else there.
The 4Runner is really cool though also, just pricey with all the mods.
@@JahyMoonwalker a4runner, being called pricey, in the midst of a$100,000.00+ trx truck?
@@HarryKuloh well, it's proximately 45k new, with probably easy another 20k mods in it. 65k for a 4Runner has a substantial investment, considering a $5,000 XJ will outwheel it LOL.
Loved Tommy's commentary on "gas rushing through the cylinders"!
my saturday morning cartoon ❤️
Looks like the Gladiator won, and the raptor did a lot better than the TRX
Loved the humor in that video, especially Tommy's "congestion" 🤣
Much better than anything CR can imagine👍🏾
Still great 2 years later! 💯
They should do best new vs what people say is the best old... I’m saying 80 series land cruiser with the front and rear lockers optioned from factory 👍
