My '17 Outlander Sport (stock) has the same ground clearance as a Subaru. Took it off-roading numerous times, with minor rock crawling. It was a super reliable crossover.
As a tundra double cab owner with a 3" level. I like the versitiliy of having a bed and the V8 power for towing. With the ELocker in the rear I've had a great time off road with it in the one year I've owned it. Great vids, keep them coming!
Yes, especially the half tons are all around most reliable. Had 2. Sold one and I still have 1 as a second work truck. 2015 SR5. Just hit 100K miles of mostly towing amd hauling. I just had to replace a seal. Other than that brakes and oil changes. Sold my 2010 trd tundra regular cab with 203K for good money and with no issues either. Just basic maintenance really.
In the Land Cruiser community we call the trailer hitch a "rear stinger"...it's not going anywhere with a big hit and it makes contact (audibly) before anything important does.
I knew Tommy was going to win as soon as he said rear locker. I have a 2000 4Runner I bought from my ex-wife, (she bought it new), and the first thing I did was remove those running boards. I gained about 6" of clearance in 30 minutes. Everyone was asking me if I had lifted it. Then I did do a 2" lift with Bilstein 5100's and OME springs, Falken 285/70/17's on Level 8 aluminum 6 spoke rims, SPC adjustable upper control arms and a front diff drop. It does not have a rear locker. It has 250K miles and has been in our family for 24 years. It crawled all over the Alpine Loop in Colorado without a problem, and got us back to KY in one piece. Great vehicle!
Old 4Runner is by far the best. No mods and basically stock and under budget hanging with an over budget and moded Land Cruiser. Love the 3rd gen 4Runner.
Listening to Andre’s truck groaning and scraping over obstacles sounded like a ship slowly rolling over and sinking. Fortunately, the truck didn’t sink! Well done!
I pretty much LOL'ed through the ENTIRE episode because I knew Andre was going to be the one with the most scraping along with Nathan proudly boasting about his Land Cruiser, and Tommy basically reminding us all of how he's been mindful of the rules for this challenge. I wish Nathan would have searched harder for a sequoia. You can find them all day for under $10k. I would have loved to see that do your tests. We all know Land Cruisers are great. We don't see much on the sequoia I just purchased a 2005 with 247k mi. for $3500. $1k for a timing chain, shocks, and a tune-up. If you want the best mix of all, get a GX470. Great approach, departure, and break over angles, small like the 4Runner, V8 like the tundra, and looks great and holds value like the Land Cruiser. You also get a low range transfer case, locking center diff, ATRAC traction control, and a plush Lexus cabin. You can pick up a higher mileage one for a decent price too
