great video, how wide should the bit hole be? are these legs into a 1 in. or 1 1/2 inch hole?

I have made a number of chairs and struggled with drilling holes.
I understood your instruction all up to aligning table with drill,
and I cant find any instruction that fully explains that bit.
Sight lines and angle of table all good but drill set up escapes me every time.
