I’m 80 years old, and this is my full golf swing. When you get old and lose strength, flexibility and balance, full swings just don’t work anymore. I don’t hit it as far as I used to, but I nut it nearly every time with a simple 9 to 3 golf swing. Works great for everything, even driver, woods and hybrids.
A terrific drill and explanation as well. If a person would simply take this abbreviated swing out to the course they would strike the ball consistently well and enjoy their game much more. Thank you Alexander Golf.
I was absolutely enlightened and was struggling all this while , always figured swinging hard was distance after this video the 9 to 3 swing with arms straight is the best way irrespective of the club , thanks buddy . I am 61 , Narendra out of Bangalore India
Practiced this drill for about an hour this morning on my backyard sim and hit every ball dead straight. Probably the best drill I’ve found. Playing 18 this afternoon and can’t wait to put it into practice on the course and see how it goes. I am now a subscriber and thanks for the tips!!
@@alexander_golf Well Alex I'm 80 years of age and play off an index of 14.4. I still enjoy my weekly round with my pals and am as competitive as ever. Always on the lookout for a tip or a drill to improve my golf. So thanks again for this one.
I have been searching for some type of a routine to do, after hitting a poor iron shot ( i.e. topped or fat ) on the course to help get me back in sync ...this simple drill might just be the answer....I also notice how much you keep your elbows together ...thanks for the demonstration.....
This is an excellent swing drill Alexander! I have been working on this for over a year now and it is coming along nicely. The one fault I have as an "senior golfer" is sometime I don't get the needed rotation to produce the wanted distance. It's coming along though! I like your content and have become a new subscriber! Well Done!
Great video. I swing better from 9 -3 o’clock than from an extended swing position. I am going to try the hip back then forward twist movement as well. I’m sure my distance will improve. Very helpful information.
Love this. My range has a 1ft diameter metal bullseye target about 4ft off the ground at 50 or so yards. I do this drill with my 5 trying to hit it. I guess a low "stinger" makes the drill fun. Use about my last 20 ball on this. Only hit a couple times...lol
@@alexander_golf Been away from the game for 10 years (which has actually been good. played for about 10yrs before that) so I started from scratch, bottom up. One word, inconsistent. Beautiful draw, then block right, snap hook. LOL. Working on the first. Always had a decent short game 150yds in (most fun to me). I just need to get off the tee in play.
Hi Mike, I tried your grip at the driving range and loved it. Can you make a video of the importance of putting your weight directly on your left heel, not your toe, when shifting your weight from the right to left. I notice you do this and people don't realize the importance of it, imo. Also, people sometime jump a little on their toes and don't realize it, me me me, and it totally messed up their swing. I'm going to watch many more of your videos! Thank you for sharing and creating them.
Fabulous Alexander and thank you. This drill will help me address a number if issues my pro has identified in my swing. The only problem is that my range is currently closed and won't be open until 7am tomorrow morning! 😂 At 56, currently off 7.1 and watching my swing change as I get older and less flexible, this type of advice will doubtless supplement my lessons and hopefully help me at least maintain my game for a while longer. Cheers from your newest Aussie subscriber, Dave
Makes sense to me to get the core part of any action down pat before you take it to the extreme lengths. If the fundamentals aren't there through what I call the green zone, then how are we going to control the fuller swing. When you learn to ride a horse it's a good idea to start off in a confined paddock. Master the art, and THEN, head for the trails. Same idea here. Thank Alexander.
As a well educated man and one of the best athletes in the world today people ask me 2 things every week are there people in outer space and how can you be so good at golf at 80yrs old. As it is just not possible
Yeah I will record a video on this because it’s essentially been my journey with my swing since an injury a few years ago! Came back with this feel and transitioned to full swings! How is your game atm?
@@dongola7860 exactly what I have! Opposing forces from each hand allows for club face to be stable in the swing! I’ve been posting videos about this grip on TikTok and instagram! I get so much hate for it but those who’ve tried it comment on how effective it is.
Why do you have a drill locker if there is only one drill we need? What a crock. Quick fixes are Johnny Miller’s WOOD - work only one day. I suggest you give us the only stock picking drill we need.

This drill makes perfect sense, it looks very much like Tommy Fleetwood’s swing. Thanks so much for this video, will certainly give a go.
Yes a lot of similarities to what Tommy does he has a great swing to copy! How is your game?

Amazing. And perfect way to fix a bad backswing. There is no supination of the right forearm at all. Huge issue for me that you fixed.
About your grip. It looks like you have a strong left hand and a weak right. Please explain.

Tommy Fleetwood.
why is it looks so easy?
Hitting off a mat is NOT the same as grass. Much easier. Do all your iron practice off Grass or dirt!
Keep talking just show drill
