  • I enjoy making Turkey Tail Tea (Trametes Versicolor) in the autumn and thought it would be fun to make a video showing how I prepare it.
I am no expert though, so please use extreme caution and do your own research when it comes to foraging. Never consume a wild mushroom without guidance and species verification from an expert on the topic. Mushrooms can be toxic, which could make you sick or kill you if you eat the wrong one!

Awesome video! Have you tried dehydrating the turkey tails in the oven and grinding them into powder? They grow everywhere here in Florida, but they spray pesticide in so many areas that I'm too afraid to collect any. I would love to see more of the nature in the woods, next time you go. Please and thank you 😊💚

Thanks! I haven’t dried and powdered them before. I have considered it but I have heard some arguments that claim that you have to extract the goods out of Turkey tail via hot water. I don’t know if that is nonsense or not but there is a debate around that. As far as pesticides are concerned, yeah that’s a concern. I am getting these out of the woods in protected parks where there would be no reason to have pesticides. It is also something to keep in mind that mushrooms soak up a lot of other environmental pollutants so it’s ideal not to pick them from road sides or places where there would be nasty chemicals around. Double edge sword there. Because mushrooms help clean up nasty agents from the area by soaking them up and breaking them down into less vile substances, but that also means that if you eat that mushroom, you get the contents it had soaked up too!
