Please watch, like, subscribe, and share this video. Carne Guisada in a crockpot. Why use a crockpot or a slow cooker? Convenience and of course it is great to eat. If you have never heard of carne guisada it is a Tex Mex beef stew. It has a tasty thick gravy and tender meat that has been cooked to perfection. This is an excellent recipe that is easy to prepare. It can be served for breakfast or for dinner with rice, beans, and tortillas. But my kids loved carne guisada for breakfast. I developed this crockpot recipe so I would not have to get up a few hours before them to prepare breakfast. So break out the crock pot and make up this carne guisada or beef stew recipe for the whole family. Thanks for stopping by Texas Style Cuisine and please remember to share my video of "How to make Carne Guisada in a Crock Pot | Slow Cooker Carne Guisada | Crockpot Recipe.
Now remember that this meal can be cooked in a dutch oven in the house or outside over the fire, with great results. I just do it this way for convenience.

Now, remember all spices are to taste. If you are not a big fan of cumin only use half. If it is to hot use less pepper. I have friends that don't eat bell pepper, so when they are here I leave it out. Carne Guisada can be made it in many different ways so make it to fit your taste.
    Carne Guisada
4lbs Beef Roast trimmed cubed and dusted with flour
    1tbl Cumin
    1tbl Black Pepper
    1tbl Granulated Garlic
    1/2tbl Salt
    3 Bay Leaves
    2cups Diced Onion
    1cups Diced Bell Pepper
    2tbl or 2bullion cubes Knorr Tomato w/chicken
    1can Tomato Sauce 8oz
Put all items into crockpot and cook on low overnight.
Serve with flour tortillas and salsa

My sons are getting this next Christmas when they visit . I am making refried beans and thankfully we have great fresh local tortillas since I live in a Texas barrio. I'm serving ours as burritos with melted cheddar on top and the guisada gravy My daughter is on keto so I'm looking for a thickener alternative to make her a keto batch to eat with salad. Anyone know what to use in place of flour for her?

    • @TexasStyleCuisine
      @TexasStyleCuisine  5 років тому

Renee I would just google it, to see what is a keto thickener. I would think that almond flour would work or even flaxseed powder. I am sure there are others. I know cornstarch has less then flour but still has some. Thanks for watching and the comment.

Hey, Chef Johnny. Just got done making and eating carne guissada. I followed your instructions, but I did change a couple of things.
1st, I used my new Instant Pot and used the slow cook option.
2nd, I browned the meat before placing it in the Pot.
A couple of things that I will do next time is to cut the meat and the bell pepper a bit smaller and add more chili. I will most likely use a can of Rotel Hot instead of the tomato paste, just to get it spicier. The flour idea was great, it thickened it perfectly.
Overall, it came out delicious, and it was extremely easy to make.
Greatly appreciate your video. Thank you.

Your one badass Mexican lol My dad was a single father off 3 girls and he would cook for us and make fresh tortillas. The kitchen was small so he would ask us to set the table or do something else so we wouldnt be in the way. But we would still sneek into the kitchen and steal a tortilla off the grittle. I would have to cool it down just like you did. Ahh the good old days. Now my Dad is 72 yrs old and has Parkinsons, now its my turn to take care of him. Thank your for the recipe. Will be preparing it for the Fam. God Bless and Be well. ❤

Thanks so much for this great recipe. Put it together last night and it came out great. For a different twist, I added 1 pound of fresh chorizo. As a life long California resident, I recently moved to Alabama where finding true Mexican food is a challenge . Now that I have discovered your channel, I'll be back to having great Mexican dishes. Thanks very much and keep up the outstanding videos and recipes !!!!!!!!!

Dang you sure know how to hurt a guy. I'm a displaced Texan in LA and these boys out here hadn't figured out how to make good Tex-Mex. When we lived in the Corpus are (Portland) we had a little place called Fiesta and it was all homemade stuff. They had the best Carne Guisada in town and the morning Taco's were like yours. I am headed home for a couple of weeks to Houston and I will have some of that good food that I have seen you cook. Glad I found you. Now do a really good Chicken Fried Steak or tell me where to find your recipe. Thanks for the Show. Jim.
