Please watch, like, subscribe, and share this video. Carne Guisada in a crockpot. Why use a crockpot or a slow cooker? Convenience and of course it is great to eat. If you have never heard of carne guisada it is a Tex Mex beef stew. It has a tasty thick gravy and tender meat that has been cooked to perfection. This is an excellent recipe that is easy to prepare. It can be served for breakfast or for dinner with rice, beans, and tortillas. But my kids loved carne guisada for breakfast. I developed this crockpot recipe so I would not have to get up a few hours before them to prepare breakfast. So break out the crock pot and make up this carne guisada or beef stew recipe for the whole family. Thanks for stopping by Texas Style Cuisine and please remember to share my video of "How to make Carne Guisada in a Crock Pot | Slow Cooker Carne Guisada | Crockpot Recipe.
Now remember that this meal can be cooked in a dutch oven in the house or outside over the fire, with great results. I just do it this way for convenience.

Now, remember all spices are to taste. If you are not a big fan of cumin only use half. If it is to hot use less pepper. I have friends that don't eat bell pepper, so when they are here I leave it out. Carne Guisada can be made it in many different ways so make it to fit your taste.

Just wanted to say Im from San Antonio Texas. Im very picky when it comes to my Tex-Mex carne guisada. You my friend have nailed it! Thank you for sharing with us!
Crystal thank you for watching and for trying my recipe. I am glad you enjoyed it
I am from San Antonio, too, and very picky about my carne guisada, so your review decided it for me. I shall make it! 😁
As a Texan that recently moved out of state, this recipe really hit the spot! Just as good (if not better) than my go-to taco spots in San Antonio. Thanks!
Excellent looking recipe Johnny. That beef looked like it would melt in your mouth and that's what I love!!!! Thumbs Up brother!!
+T-ROY COOKS thanks Troy appreciate ya watching
Thanks for being honest about the salt, most cooks say that everything taste great just to save face. Great Job..
+Rick Matthews Thanks for watching. I do know what you mean about saving face. Guess I should have grabbed my old recipe. I had not done it in awhile so I did it from memory. Memory is not what it used to be. LOL
👍👍👍 Looks awesome... id like a plate please...☺
+Cooking with Honey Thanks Honey very kind of you to watch and comment
I've tried your receipe in the crock pot and it is fantastic! Love it. I'm trying to duplicate it in the instant pot would you happen to know how long I should cook it for in the instapot?
never used an instapot but in a dutch oven I let it cook two to three hours until it gets tender
@@TexasStyleCuisine thanks ill let you know how it comes out in an intant pot on pressure cooker setting. Great recipe thanks again reminds me of El Pato Mex Restaurant in south Texas when i cook some rice and tortillas
Looks great. I would have to say that I love Carne Guisada. I found that if you use one jar of
Chile Verde and 4 lbs of roast, you will get the best Carne Guisada you have ever tasted. Doesn't get any easier than that.
+Michael Ralph Thanks for watching and the comment. I may have to give your version a try.

My sons are getting this next Christmas when they visit . I am making refried beans and thankfully we have great fresh local tortillas since I live in a Texas barrio. I'm serving ours as burritos with melted cheddar on top and the guisada gravy My daughter is on keto so I'm looking for a thickener alternative to make her a keto batch to eat with salad. Anyone know what to use in place of flour for her?
Renee I would just google it, to see what is a keto thickener. I would think that almond flour would work or even flaxseed powder. I am sure there are others. I know cornstarch has less then flour but still has some. Thanks for watching and the comment.
I'm for corpus. And I usually just go to like stripes or a Mexican restaurant drive thru. For mine. But I'm gonna try this. Could you? Or do you have a recipe for flour tortillas?? I've been trying to make them but I keep failing. They come out weird.
Ya those tortillas can be tough to master. Lol my wife's always come out in the shape of Texas.
If I was you I would try the tortilla mix. All you have to add is water. I like the White Wings brand. If you want a recipe from scratch I can get it for you, but the mix works very well.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
buy the tortilla flour from heb or walmart with a bird on it just add salt water and a small amount of lard
I have to say I followed your recipe with only a change by adding chilipepper and potatoes it came out awesome thanks for the recipe
S glad you enjoyed it.
This is by far the best recipe I've ever made. Thank you for helping me finally make a dish my husband likes.God bless you sir.
+Jeannette Renteria Thank you so much for watching. I am glad you and your husband enjoyed it.
Ive done this recipe a few times and it is always great. How do I go about not having it dry up so much? It seems like I never have enough gravy.
Good question! I have never had that problem. You can add a little stock to the pot and that should solve the problem.
That looks like a recipe I need to try, and soon! I sure like that concession trailer you have! I have thought serious about doing something similar when I retire. Hit all the events up and down the coast here.
+Smoky Ribs BBQ & Southern Cuisine It can be fun Rus. The wife and I enjoy our time together in the trailer. That close of quarters it is good we get along.
Thanks for watching always appreciate your input
+Texas Style Cuisine
do you cook it overnight on high or low?
Major Rager Overnight i cook on low
+Texas Style Cuisine thank you much sir
So this meat is your most recommended for tender Carne guisada? Did you make homemade tortillas?
That will be very tender. Those were hand made but not by me. Thanks for watching
All add less salt prob no bullion cubes just tomato sauce and more salt if needed after❤thx
That will work, but the tomato bullion does add great flavor. Thanks for watching.

As a Texas girl i seriously cant enough of carne guisada tacos😍🤤
I understand that. Give that recipe a try and let me know how it turns out.
Do I add any liquid to the pot? Chicken broth or beef broth?
Cheryl Gordon no ma’am only liquid is the tomato sauce.
Awesome video, can't wait to try this recipe!!!
I bet you enjoy it. Let me know how it turns out for you.
Love the 2 tickets on the rack all night, Bet the waitress was mad you didn't get her order out. lol Nice job, Now I have to go find some carne guisada and some tortillas. way to cook it up chef. Nice job
Heck Chef people around here don't mind waiting. Lol. Thanks for the comment.
@Texas Style BBQ and Cuisine 38min in the instant pot on high setting Meat Stew pressure cooking and its falling apart
That is fast, glad you enjoyed the recipe.
I've made this recipe twice now. I added green chilies, fresh diced garlic one clove, and a tiny amount of beef broth to mine. It's a very good recipe and I never have left overs because all my family and friends love it! Thank you!!!
I am really glad it has worked for you and your family is enjoying it. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
First, let me tell you, I truly enjoyed your recipe - it was exactly the one i was looking for. And also, please pardon me, I really hope you don't mind, I shared your video on my blog and listed the ingredients in Spanish - most of my followers are Spanish speakers.
Sandi Reta so glad you enjoyed it. I do not mind you sharing at all. Just remember to mention me now and then. Thanks for watching.
@@TexasStyleCuisine awesome and oh most definitely, I've actually linked your channel - here's a link to the post: bit.ly/3gqv4EX

Thumbs up Johnny. Looks like an easy way to make carne guisada. I know what you mean on the Knorrs. I use a lot of Caldo de Pollo powder in my cooking and can't tell you how many times I have over salted with it. I now just use the Knorrs Caldo de Pollo in place of salt in a lot of recipes. Thanks for sharing.
+Rashley's BorderQue Thanks for the comment Randy sure appreciate you watching
You can even use beef stew meat already cut up its great to use also
Yes, that will work fine.
What is it coated with? I’m trying tomorrow!
That is the natural juice mixed with the flour that has made a gravy.
Hey, Chef Johnny. Just got done making and eating carne guissada. I followed your instructions, but I did change a couple of things.
1st, I used my new Instant Pot and used the slow cook option.
2nd, I browned the meat before placing it in the Pot.
A couple of things that I will do next time is to cut the meat and the bell pepper a bit smaller and add more chili. I will most likely use a can of Rotel Hot instead of the tomato paste, just to get it spicier. The flour idea was great, it thickened it perfectly.
Overall, it came out delicious, and it was extremely easy to make.
Greatly appreciate your video. Thank you.
Glad to know I helped out. Thanks for watch and for the cooking report
@@TexasStyleCuisine will do.

+ArmadilloPepper.com Thank ya so much
Did you add any water or liquid to the crock pot?
Hector Hernandez only liquid is the tomato sauce. If you click show more you can see the entire recipe. Thanks for watching
Every time I use tomato sauce I end up carne that looks more like chili cause of the red color
Rodolfo Garcia you are correct about that. I used to make mine with non eat all and it was a gray color with a few colorful flakes from the peppers and very tasty. But doing it in the crockpot this recipe works very well and there is not a chili flavor. Thanks for taking time to watch and to comment.
Did you put any water or broth in the crock pot?
No ma'am I did not. Thanks for watching.
Overnight??? Can you be more specific? Like number of hours?? I go to bed at midnight and wake up at 6am. So six hours?? And what if I want to make it during the day??
I usually figure 6-8 hours as overnight. If you want it faster turn the temp hotter. Thanks for watching
@@TexasStyleCuisine I tried you recipe...EXACTLY how I like it. Excellent. Thank you

That looks really good.... not a fan of carne guisada at the restaurant because of the gristle and fat. Need to try this recipe oh by the way when you say overnight exactly how many hours more or less? Thanx
+Jo3l Heck I put that on about 9:00 and took it off about 7:30 It was done before that., but I did not worry about hurrying to get it off. Thanks for watching and the comment.

Two questions you say overnight is that 8hours? Second, there's no liquid to be added?
around 8 hours and the only liquid is the tomato sauce.
Thank you sir. I'm actually trying this recipe this morning.. i hope to make out to lytle next weekend to visit your restaurant. Hope to meet ya.

Thanks for watching and for the comment
I just loaded the Crock-Pot with your recipe and I cant wait! Thanks for sharing!
Sure thing, I hope you enjoy it.
Stephanie Cruz how did it turn out?
Never have I had carne guisada this tender. This is by far the best recipe. I added about a cup of chicken broth because I like a lot of the gravy and it came out great!
I honestly thought I left a comment here before but I just got to tell you this is the REAL DEAL Texas carne guisada. I absolutely love your recipe, my family is obsessed with it too. It's on par with some of the best taco places around here in South Texas. I also wanted to ask you if you have a refried bean recipe and again thanks for sharing your awesome recipes with us!
Ajay, thanks so much for watching. I am glad you enjoy my recipe. I do have a refried bean recipe that I will try to post soon.
Awesome! Can't wait!
i love carne guisada as well, i use a 4 lb chuck roast (or any roast that size), green peppers, diced tomatoes with jalapenos, onions, and taco seasoning and let it simmer on low heat on a stove for a few hours and it turns out beautifully tender & delicious and awesome on flour tortillas with cheese, taco sauce, lettuce, salsa, & sour cream
pinkpastelhearts ell I tell ya that sounds like a great way to do it. I bet it is great. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the comment
How long did you let it cook overnight
gospursgo03 it was on low for 8-10 hours. Thanks for asking sure do appreciate you watching
Thank you for this!..... buying a crockpot TONIGHT (1: 30AM..LOL).... THANKS FOR YOUR ENERGY ASWELL!!!!
Thanks allot for watching and for the kind comment. This comment had disappeared and now it is back. Not sure what happened, these computers drive me nuts sometime. I sure hope your enjoy this recipe, I bet you do.
looks delicious...but what's the deal with the bay leaves? can i skip 'em? what exactly does it do to the flavor?
Sure you can skip the bay leaves. But what they add to the dish is a deep underlying flavor. Early on it is a stronger flavor as the leaves steep in the sauce they change they mellow and and give a nice earthy flavor. Thanks for watching and the commdent
Texas Style Cuisine thank you! trying this tonight!
What if I want to serve this for dinner, how long should I cook it? 7 pm or 8 pm
Jeff Martinez well on low it is 7 or 8 hours if you go to medium or high allot faster. Just go into the meat is fork tender. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy it.
What can I substitute for the tomato buillon w/ chicken? I live in Indiana and I’ve been unable to find the tomato bouillon w/ chicken here. Can I use a regular Knorr brand chicken bouillon cube? If so, how many should I use?
Jeff I am sure the chicken would work just fine. But here is a link for some through my Amazon Store, amzn.to/2DKzaYW. Thanks for watching my video and thanks for using my affiliate links when you can.
Your one badass Mexican lol My dad was a single father off 3 girls and he would cook for us and make fresh tortillas. The kitchen was small so he would ask us to set the table or do something else so we wouldnt be in the way. But we would still sneek into the kitchen and steal a tortilla off the grittle. I would have to cool it down just like you did. Ahh the good old days. Now my Dad is 72 yrs old and has Parkinsons, now its my turn to take care of him. Thank your for the recipe. Will be preparing it for the Fam. God Bless and Be well. ❤
Great memories. I am so glad you shared your story with me. My dad passed away almost 23 years ago and I love thing that remind me of him. He is blessed to have loved ones to takes care of him. The last meal I ever cooked for my mom was my BBQ chicken. Thanks for watching
