Hi again Jeff ...I notice that the 6040 has the Y stepper mounted on the right hand side of the machine while the 6090 has it mounted on the left ..I would prefer my 6090 to also have the motor mounted on the right, due to access in my small workshop area as I like to fine adjust by hand on the knurled wheels ...I have pondered on how this can be done but gave up in the end as it would mean stripping down the whole gantry assembly and re-building it opposite hand and drilling and tapping holes in various places and re-routing the cables... in the end I made some knurled wheels that fitted over the nuts on the opposite ends of the X & Y and that has solved the problem.
Sorry for the delay in my reply... I've been thinking about it and came up with "maybe". You could flip-flop the sides. By this I mean disassemble the entire gantry and move the right side to the left and left to the right. It seems, to me, that all the holes are tapped all the way through (on mine at least) if they are tapped. This could be a solution to moving that motor. You will, of course, also have to disconnect the lead screw and turn that around too... then make the adjustments to Mach3 to reflect that/those changes. Does that make sense?
looks like the "Orange" hardware store for the thread inserts? what thread size and flange diameter. btw...you have inspired me to pimp my 6090! keep up the outstanding work!
Why not make the spoil board with the router on top of the old spoil board, a hell of a lot easier, though you might have to do the odd one by hand if they coincide with the old board.
Grazie!

Yes, they are from an orange big box store. They are a 5/16" T-Nut. Store SKU #186388

The Z clearance is only, about, 6 inches. So, losing another .75"/20mm in the Z axis is not desirable.
