I can't get over how fantastic it is that in that last scene, Brennan did the ol' tired DM "are you SURE you want to waste your entire turn talking to a bird, instead of helping your party, every single member of whom is in incredible danger? are you SURE you want to throw away a full minute when every second counts?" And meanwhile he had an elaborate visual effect and a whole-ass model prepared for when Ally inevitably chose to interact with the vulture anyway
To be fair, he was kind of pushing them in that direction this time. In season 1 he only mentioned the vulture in the initial set up and only mentioned it again when the players explicitly payed attention to it. On this occasion, Ally was on their way to the vulture, but on that turn they'd already commited to giving the help action. Brennan instead gave them a prompt and questioned them to get them to interact with the vulture instead.
It's amazing how much of this season is Brennan's Revenge against the Intrepid Heroes. Like, Vulture Dimension, his self-insert Anti-Fig NPC, forcing Fig to work with Porter.... It's like every possible chicken coming home to roost and it's AMAZING 😂
I can't wait till we find out the bird guy knows the vulture somehow. Or, if they get out of the Vulture Dimension, they go to the same support group about burned down nests

Don't forget that Night Yorb was not a real thing, it was a jumbled name that they found as an anagram that made no sense, and as a bit they started to push it, and Brennan made the Hangman speak of it with fear. "Don't mention the Night Yorb". So basically to further agree with you, the season started with a Rib at the group.
I was once paddleboarding, & saw this HUGE vulture in a tree watching me, & I just knew it knew that I was gonna drown & it was going to eat my remains, so I paddled back to shore, packed up, & left. And I love paddleboarding. I don't leave for anything, but it put some primordial fear into my heart that day. So "all vultures are sinister" deeply resonates with me.
I grew up in a house on top of a cliff in CA and vultures liked to nest about halfway down the face of that cliff. Let me tell you, there's nothing quite as terrifying as playing outside in the 100 degree heat and a vulture with a wingspan longer than you are tall flying about 15 feet above you
What I love about this compilation is that it gives an entirely new dimension (no pun intended) too Lou's dead-eyed reaction to the reveal at the end. He nat 20'd into a half pipe to interact with the first vulture! He defended Ally to the death for them investigating that vulture pro-bono! He wasn't sick of the shenanigans, he wanted to BE the shenanigans! Ally just got there first as Kristen! My man got vulture scooped.

That level of preparedness just reinforced how thoroughly Brennan planned for this. He *knew* there was no way the players were going to pass up on interacting with that vulture, and he was absolutely correct.
My favorite part is how there’s a whole animation and setpiece, like Brennan had 100% faith in the Bad Kids that’s *someone* would interact with the vulture

Without a doubt, one of the funniest things Brennan has ever done and got the best reactions from the entire cast. From Murph just losing it to Lou's stunned silence and being just completely done with life to Zac's quiet "there was a carbon monoxide leak in the dome". Just perfection.
Ally's "what" is fucking priceless. It's not a big played up reaction, it's just a moment of genuine shock. They did not expect this to happen, they didn't expect anything to come of this. At the absolute *most*, getting a vulture ally. Beautiful.;
This trap being sprung on Ally as Kristen is fucking poetic with both how of course Ally is the first to engage with the weird thing, and how Kristen's whole character arc up to this point has been her neglecting her responsibilities for stupid shit that doesn't matter or isn't important to the big picture of what's going on. Leave it to Ally Beardsley to walk ass-first into a weird thing without consideration, and leave it to Kristen Applebees to get distracted by a random vulture while in the middle of a fight and half her team is incapacitated and another mind controlled.
I’m having the hardest time reading Lou’s reaction, but I do know he tends to make that expression when something chaotic happens that is unexpected. I don’t know if he’s enjoying himself or if he’s just lost it or what. lol

I mean, in defense of the party: the entire premise of the show is intentionally John Hughes esque, they're playing DnD where fantasy is to be expected, and these people are IMPROV COMICS and sketch writers lol. Between the half pipes, skateboarding dwarves (very teen movie), acid pits, and vultures, coupled with the fact that their comedic instincts cognitively enforce shenanigans before problem solving, a random REGULAR ASS vulture would be the most categorically insane thing there!

Lou was right though, Brennan laid out clues about owls and birds and being spied on, interacting with a mouse was an important clue, and a vulture watching them fight would be a breakcrumb is follow up on.

Everyone: Oh man can you believe he had been planning this FOR FIVE YEARS?! Meanwhile Brennan probably just got fed up wiht people constantly coming up with this stupid vulture and last week decided to finally give it a purpose, haha.
I really liked this, and it caught me by surprise, but I was anticipating something else. I expected the next time the vulture to show up that Brennan was going to have something planned especially for the vulture, but I assumed the party would (in spite of Brennan) completely ignore the vulture like "No, it's just a vulture dude. You remember what happened last time?" as Brennan desperately throws subtle hints to get them to come back and toy with it.
Onetime I was floating down a creek on an inner tube, I was a few hundred feet ahead of my friends and I came around a corner to find an enormous dead oak tree with like 40 vultures perched on the branches and another 20 circling above. In that moment, curses were real, and I was 100% going to die. It was legitimately one of the scariest moments of my life 😂.
All cast expressions aside. Imagine being the crew member who had control of the vulture shaped nuclear launch button when the pass phrase was confirmed to launch. Just...."are they going to do this?.....they wouldn't waste this much time....holy shit they're doing it!"

i love the pure “hey girlie” energy dissipation as he says that and the fact that it wasn’t used as much at ALL for the next couple episodes. brennan broke the hey girlie
Lou was right though, Brennan laid out clues about owls and birds and being spied on, interacting with a mouse was an important clue, and a vulture watching them fight would be a breakcrumb is follow up on.

I really liked this, and it caught me by surprise, but I was anticipating something else. I expected the next time the vulture to show up that Brennan was going to have something planned especially for the vulture, but I assumed the party would (in spite of Brennan) completely ignore the vulture like "No, it's just a vulture dude. You remember what happened last time?" as Brennan desperately throws subtle hints to get them to come back and toy with it.
Wasn't there also a vulture in boys' night during the crazy escape from Chungledown Bim?? I think that was one of my favorite random vulture inserts
Onetime I was floating down a creek on an inner tube, I was a few hundred feet ahead of my friends and I came around a corner to find an enormous dead oak tree with like 40 vultures perched on the branches and another 20 circling above. In that moment, curses were real, and I was 100% going to die. It was legitimately one of the scariest moments of my life 😂.
