Origin of the trauma: "The price MUST be paid" Lou laughing and yelling "what the fuck?!" and "What did you just do?!" is still one of my all-time favorite D20 moments Is still
@@MathrocksTavernthe only thing I can ever remember from Mentopolis is Imelda saying “You’re scaring the girls! I got a couple right here.” And pulling out her bazonga’s and then Fucks tryna do the same thing and getting shot in his brass balls
The way that Brennan knows Ally so well that he could have the crew set up a custom setpiece and dome graphic specifically for a bit that he knows Kristen's going to commit to even with everyone else on the verge of death
to be fair, Brennan didn't break Lou, Lou broke himself because he RP'd so hard and realized mid-speech to the warlocks that he was making a really, REALLY bad move, but he was fully in character and committed to it.
The “so tactical, so late moment” is extra funny because Brennan rolling double nat ones, an event that would usually gather more attention, is totally glossed over lol
On god. Starstruck Odyssey was what I would've considered the funniest season for a LONG time, but it's so easily supplanted by Junior Year and we aren't even DONE yet lmao
It’s because he’s going hard in like every direction- like the bits and dialogue are hilarious ofc but he’s also using the background to cart dildo robots across the screen and shit
idk though, Misfits & Magic is also really, really funny; Evan Kelmp has several masterstroke deliveries and Aabria is so outstanding at teeing things up and then reacting to them both in and out of NPC character 😂 Junior Year and Starstruck are both funnier if the cast themselves breaking is weighted highly, but if it's more about how hard you laugh whether they are or not, it's maybe a bit tighter of a race to call? 🤷♂️😁
There's this part of Unsleeping City chapter 2 where Ally's character grows a beard of feathers and the captions say Ally featherBeardsley and it lives in my head and my heart rent free. I need the captioning team to know I you and I love you
@madelyn1758 "it's two sides of the same coin," but honestly, I think until around Starstruck, it could be pretty hit or miss. I know sophomore year is fairly atrocious with the captions, but the last several seasons of every show on Dropout have just been, like amazing. Like a parallel joke, I would call it. It enhances each show so so so much.
Everything to do with Fabian and the Bill Cultists kills me every time. You can tell Lou knows everything he’s doing is the dumbest, most dangerous thing he could possibly be doing but it’s so in character he has to follow through, and nothing has made me laugh harder than the “he said he was gonna shit in my MOUTHHH” breakdown where Lou was laughing so hard explaining everything that it made Fabian sound like he was absolutely sobbing.
I love how the best way for Brennan to break Zac was by giving the exact kind of response Zac would give if the roles were reversed. No lore or monologue, just comedy sniping gold 😂
Fully Convinced that his mission now to break all the intrepid heroes each combat. It started with Murph, then Emily, then Zac. And they all have completely different senses of humor too
ik you meant 'the fire elemental who was holding the shrimp' but for a split second i imagined an elemental whose element was shrimp and was made out of shrimp 10/10 lovin it
The look on Lou's face as the Bad Kids are stolen away to the vulture dimension is, and I don't say this lightly, a true masterpiece of somatic emotion. I hesitate to even call it acting because it was simply so true to how I imagine Lou must have been feeling in that moment. Genuinely one of the greatest things I've ever seen--not the funniest, not the most moving, not even particularly memorable. It's just _good,_ to a remarkable degree.
I was right there with Murph on the tactical & late yorbies. That battle was so long and difficult, the whole party was mentally exhausted. They already won, they were literally just cleaning up. They were absolutely DONE. The fact that two enemies were just lying there waiting to jump out with brutal efficiency just to move the finish line back like two inches is so freaking absurd
I love that when Zac breaks, he laughs so hard that it's just quiet. No sound coming out at all. That's the kind of laugh that makes it hard to breathe.
The vulture dimension was the biggest 1000000IQ chess move Brennan has ever pulled off as DM. It’s such a perfect encapsulation of how well he knows the heroes
I will say that the vulture dimension bit does seem to get her pretty good. Not as much as other people in the other clips, but she does seem to be rendered speeches for a moment
Siobhan's moment was in Neverafter when Brennan was giving the speech as the mouse (I think) from Cinderella's story about the existential horror of getting turned into a footman.
I love how what makes Brennan breaks is often his friends breaking as well. Both with Murph and Zac this season Brennan is so surprised and genuinely happy he breaks as well.
Unrelated but : After the confirmation last episode that Fig's bardics are cursed, I really hope she's gonna start using it in combat against their foes.
@@frognation_ I know right ? I can just imagine Kipperlilly Copperface getting absolutely bodied by an increasingly hasardous and incongruous series of hilariously unfortunate events.
@@math9172That's brilliant! How I didn't think of that is sad. Imagine setting her up in a situation where there's a common enemy and have Fig supporting her as like Wanda or something then for her to just succumb to so much horrible luck.

I don't think I can say how much I appreciate the closed captioning work on Dimension 20. The descriptions of sounds and bits is truly incredible and adds to the experience.
I feel like Lou half broke himself with the way he fully bought into Fabian going on a suicide mission lmao. Poor guy fully went yes and and he was laughing so hard because he was going to kill his beloved character...
The guys showing up late and murf dying had my cry laughing too. Also I need a shirt or something that says "you are now entering the vulture dimension"
Lou in the first clip is quite literally my favorite Fantasy High clip on earth. The clip of him dying just plays in my head over and over again. I freaking love it
I always forget because I usually only see clips of it, but Fabian’s almost demise and rallying the cult was all done LIVE. Meaning no producer could try and stop and be like “Hey, maybe don’t kill off one of the main characters, someone who is very much beloved by the entire fan base.”
turns out that today, after the election, hearing lou laugh the hardest he possibly could at the absurd circumstances he got himself into with the pirate cult is EXACTLY what i needed.
my boyfriend introduced me to dimension 20 via this series in november last year, & i’m so glad he did, because not only did it teach me more about d&d, it brought me into this amazing show & world 🥰 we’re currently going through season 3 & i’ll be so sad when it ends 😭
From what I understand about Fig's Bardics at the time of the episode is that anyone who used her Bardics needed to roll a saving throw against her spell save or be struck with horribly bad luck as a result of the curse she unlocked in episode one. Cassandra rolled a 2 on the die, so even with a +10 to the save, she failed to resist it and being knocked out was the effect. Adaine would take a Bardic in a later episode and also be knocked unconscious by the bad luck that followed, so really, everything leading up to Cassandra getting knocked out was effectively flavor text.

Lou got broken so long ago that now whenever Brennan pulls some shit he just stares into the abyss
Truly full 1000 yard stare
Case in point, Lou in the opening of EXU Calamity

Lou laughing and yelling "what the fuck?!" and "What did you just do?!" is still one of my all-time favorite D20 moments

True friendship is when he won’t stop doing his fuckery so you just break the fourth wall in exhaustion
After everything that happened on Fabian's Bad Day, nothing can ever truly affect him. He laughed so hard I'm surprised he can still speak even now
Brennan so happy he broke Zac that he breaks 😂
gave him a tast of his own medicine
Right, it only took 3 seasons of build-up, but he did it. Brennan plays the long game!!!!😂😂
He made exactly the joke Zac would make in that situation
Brennan finally getting Zac back for "I killed him, yeah."
the bit after the tactical late guys where brennan just says “this guy’s got 3/4 cover” is truly the cherry on top of a great bit
The only person left on Brennan's list is Siobhan Thompson
He's gotta get back at her someday for the food jabs 😂
I could’ve sworn he got her good at some point during Mentopolis but I cant remember fully. This was also outside of an intrepid hero’s adventure

They were already dying laughing, it just extended the hilarity.
One in four hundred chance there 😂
Lou and Zac are in absolute denial when the V Dimension is introduced
If this season of Fantasy High were a house, it would only have sliding glass doors and exposed shelving, that's how unhinged it is
A comment so unhinged it rival's Brennan's insanity.
I love the polar opposite reactions to the tactical yorbies, lou is dead inside, and murph crying
i absolutely love how brennan had basically nothing to do with the first clip. Lou truly made himself laugh that hard lmao, great video!
True lmaoo. Also thank youuu
That ep was crazy cuz you could see Lou slowly realizing that the most in character thing to do is what he, the player, knows is definitely suicide.
I would also absolutely love it
