- Here's every time Jaws was caught on camera! What's your favourite shot of the legendary beast?
From Jaws (1975): When a young woman is killed by a shark while skinny-dipping near the New England tourist town of Amity Island, police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) wants to close the beaches, but mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) overrules him, fearing that the loss of tourist revenue will cripple the town. Ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and grizzled ship captain Quint (Robert Shaw) offer to help Brody capture the killer beast, and the trio engage in an epic battle of man vs. nature.

Gotta give Spielberg credit, he turned a hindrance of the shark not working into a what made the film so menacing.
Gotta give Spielberg credit he turned a hindrance of the shark not working into a what made
Why do we give him credit? That makes no sense
Gotta give Speilberg credit, he turned a hindrance of the shark not working
I love how it switches between a real shark, and the animatronic shark. That was very well done.
I've always disliked that, oddly, just because of how visually different the two are, it always just feels like some random separate shark considering how established the look of the animatronic is by the time the real shark footage is used.
Yeah it’s cool. If they didn’t show the animatronic that much it would’ve been more believable nowadays though
I love how it switches between a real shark and the animatronic shark. That was very well
I think 1:57 is Bruce's best shot. The shark looks fabulous here. But it is so quick.

5:21 always loved the detail of Quint meat stuck on the shark’s teeth.
I preferred seeing him alive...
5..21 always loved the detail of Quint meat stuck on the shark's death
Absolutely no single frame in any movie on earth could be more terrifying than 0:21
I agree. And people forget that this scene is where you first see the shark, NOT the famous chumming scene.
That scene traumatized me as a kid
It's the best and most effective shot of the Shark for me.
The way the shark fades is terrifying
0:24 is a close second on being terrifying
Jaws is one of my all time favorite movies.
Jaws is one of my all time favorite movies
Mine too. I love most Spielberg films the guys a genius.
Mine too ❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂 😅😅😅😊😊😊😊
3:04 god is that shot uncomfortable...
I always think of spongebob trying to get the dollar when the music starts lmao 😂
4:35 when Bruce triumphantly destroys the puny human's boat.
Greatest movie ever
Year believe me the parts are nice
Nah
You've seen every movie ever made I take it? :P
@@minicle426 Oh shut up and let him have his opinion
Correct
6:20 the ending is actually pretty sick without the line, the explosion happening right when the song ends hits different, I still prefer Brody’s badass line though of course
6..20 the ending is actually pretty sick without the line the
2:47 god that thing is huge
Bruce was a 25-footer and weighed about 3 tons as said by Quint
Crazy to think that he’s still smaller than the largest great white shark ever caught.
Thats what she said
U beat me to it 😂 @@magnushay840
@@juanjoyaborja.3054quite the oposite, the largest great white shark was about 6,7 meters long while the jaws shark is around 7,5 meters long
Love this movie keep up the great work on these jaws videos and still here 47 years ago and we still have see this movie that change the world
I'm no shark expert, but the shark in JAWS always looked real and convincing enough to me.😬
Even when it was flopping about on the back of the Orca?
@Minicle That part looked terrible. I would have much preferred the boat sank slowly and Quint's death happened as the boat was submerging. I would have edited the shark breaching the water onto the stern out of the boat.
Think only part that looked fake is when Brody was hitting the shark with the spear, outside that its really good for its time
I'm no shark expert but the shark in JAWS always looked reaiand convincing enough to me 😁
Problem is swimming, only swim straight forward.. Jaws of the real shark are separated from body...But ok for 1975...
Fun fact: The reason the shark animatronic wasn’t even seen at the beginning of the movie only at the end is because the animatronic was barely even functioning properly so Steven Spielberg made more creative ways to show the shark
In the documentary one of the special effects people said what you see in the movie is every usable frame of the shark they had.
They tested the animatronic shark in fresh water and it worked fine, but they never thought to test it in salt water before filming, and the corrosive sea water damaged the pneumatic tube controls.
Not true. It was in the script that the shark would only be revealed in the third act.
Fun fact!! Movies are shot out of sequence. The reason the shark shows up in the third act is because it was in the script. The first glimpse of the shark in the pond was one of the last things filmed on the schedule.
Here’s BRUCIE!
I love how during the shark cage bit you can clearly tell they switched the animatronic out with a real shark in some shots.
What an odd thing to love.
It's also a smaller cage... They had a small person ready to go in the cage to give the real shark more scale but after the cage got mangled by the shark he said no way!
2:47. Is the shark roaring?
Could be, it could also just be the sound of him rising from the water.
Sharks aren't capable of roaring but goddamn the sound bruce makes is absolutely terrifying
Is it any more ridiculous than the T-Rex roar the shark in Jaws the Revenge let out?
Since sharks have no vocal chords and cannot produce audible sounds, nope. But it's a movie after all.
Probably the animatronic sounds
I've always wondered where Bruce came from since it's clear he's not a normal Shark
He's the thin line between Megalodon and great white. A deep sea fish who has turned to hunting in shallows.
He's built different
Rabid 25 foot great white?
Maybe a mutated great white
Probably similar to the two Lions from The Ghost and the Darkness.
The fact this looks better than Jaws 3 1983
And Jaws The Revenge
@@manuelk1853That movie was so bad it got a 0% on rotten tomatoes
And 2 and 4...
This movie never needed sequels
Love this movie
Still a gem to this day ✨🦈🫧🌊🌅🏖️🏄🏻🚣🏻♂️🏊🏽♂️🤽🏼♀️⛵🛶
Still a gem to this day ✨🦈
The shot at 3:00 is without doubt the best shot of the shark in the entire film
1:23 annie: come on, leo! leo, move move move!
1:24 leo: i'm not goin' out there!
This video would be even better if it wasn't cropped into 16×9.
You did miss one part. The shark’s fins can be seen the the painter is yelling about Bruce in the pond.
You did miss one part The shark s fins can be seen the painter is yelling about Bruce in the pond
Came here to comment this, very easy mistake it’s barely viable in the clip.
0:25 still the most realistic shark i've seen of any animatronic
1:13 i thought i was a dolphin
Sharks are better than dolphins…
In this shot while filming u can actually see as Bruce’s fin moves and flops around underwater as much as a real shark does in 3:38 and also as hooper falls the shark actually hit the cage really hard and made him fall in 3:25
Because in the middle of Filming. An actual Great White came on to the set, introduced himself, and was so convincing, Spielberg fired him.
In this shot while filming u can actually see as Bruce s moves and flops around underwater as
6:05 best sound effect of sinking boat
I thinking that was a Shark that was Sinking.
4:53 gives my anxiety like imagine being the guy getting bit and eaten
Least favorite part
Love the shot at 2:45. And i swear it roars
The shark is one of the greatest movie villains of all time! He was so scary that he struck fear into millions of people since 1975. He also, imo, has the most satisfying villain death ever.
What Bruce is truly saying in his mind:
0:03 Nom nom nom
0:05 Wonder what’s for today’s meal ?
0:11 Mmm, boat sundae
0:16 This is going to be a treat
0:20 Ooo, it even has a gingerbread man !
0:24 Mm, it’s blood flavored
0:26 Wonder who’s next on my order ?
0:35 Bonjour, je m’appelle Bruce !
0:56 I hope u are enjoying this scene
1:04 BEEP, BEEP, I’m a submarine !
1:11 Wee woo wee woo, it’s a SHARK !
Most unfunny sh!t I've ever read
When the shark ate that man it was scary!! 🦈😨
John Williams sound track made this film. Full respect to Spielberg and Co but it is the score that does it for me
A early draft of ALEX demise was to show the shark. Was part of the shark scene when it tipped Alex over? Gotta love the you're going to need a bigg3r boat
0:32
0:20 best shot of a shark in cinema history
Happy that I was able to see it in IMAX on September 7th 2022. 5 year old me would be jealous
Brody was right. They needed a bigger boat.
It’s not until 3:10 when you realize just how big Bruce really is
it honestly scares me more knowing that bruce is an animatronic. my skin crawls thinking about having to be in the water next to him.
Brilliantly edited 🤔
2:56 maybe my favorite shot
The high angle shot of the shark looks amazing. Very impressive.
Funny that for a two hour movie you only get to see the shark for about eight minutes tops. That goes to show you how bad the mechanical shark was. I still like this design better than the sequels. I think you see the shark way too much in the other films and it just looks bad. Steven Spielberg knew how to properly do it. Less is definitely more effective.
They also had a white shark expert advise them on Bruce and it shows. On the sequels they didn't care.
And most of that screen time is in the last 10 minutes of the movie. I wonder how the film would’ve turned out if the animatronics worked properly.
Yes the shark does roar in this and people always criticise how the shark roars in Jaws the Revenge even though the roar is much loader in that one
3:31 He looks kind of innocent and playful in that shot
Still most realistic shark ever
Best shark movie for sure... But, shark was great for 1975- problem is his swiming only straight forward😊- in reality shark swim zig-zag, he is litle fatter and slower than normal shark... and jaws is different... but movie is great...
Watch the animatronics in Deep Blue Sea, those animatronics can swim on their own without a giant stand unlike the shark in jaws
@@c.d.rstudios4691true but jaws is a better movie I think deep blue sea is the second best shark movie
@@c.d.rstudios4691 I’m sorry but Bruce is far more menacing than any of the animatronics in that film, just doesn’t hold up
Way ahead of it's time. They used the fake shark appropriately so it didn't look fake.
Just imagine, a killer whale comes and try to kill the mechanical 🦈
Smile you son of a..
I've always felt that first bit where you see the sharks fins flailing around partially obscured by the splashing felt particularly horrifying.
Brody,Quint and Hooper, you'd be better off with Larry,Curly and Moe
i counted all the shark screen time in each jaws (almost)
Jaws (1975) 4 Minutes
Jaws 2 (1978) 3 Minutes 54 Seconds
Jaws 3 (1983) forgot lol
Jaws 4 (1989) 2 Minutes 38 Seconds
Jaws 3 shark is my favorite one imo
🦈💣💥😄😄 Nice classic
you missed the holiday roast scene where you get a glimpse of the dorsal fin
You're seeing things. Spielberg himself said he liked shooting that scene because he didn't have to use the mechanical shark. Same with Chrissie's death.
I know the movie is a classic but I can't take it seriously with that rubber shark
You could say the same thing for Jurrassic Park and its rubber t rex.
@@roquefortfiles the animatronic t-rex is actually a bit clumsy in parts compared to some modern effects...but its still much more convincing than the shark
I think that is entirely subjective. While I get where you're coming from there were times in JP where the hydraulics of the Trex were awful. Looking through the window. Doing what Stan Winston called "Wuga wuga" the rain on the Trex caused the extremely fine tuned hydraulics to go out of balance. It caused the model to shake on stops. Yes the sculpt and surface detail was amazing but as soon as the hydraulics didn't work your brain goes......."model". But you get involved in the story. I am a huge fan of the shark in Jaws. You have to remember this was the very first time this was done. They were told it couldn't be done. Yes there are a couple of clunky shots that haven't aged well but there are also some really great shots. What I love is that the shark is actually there. Real water, Real interaction. It is in the shot with the actors. CGI on this stuff takes me right out of it. Not that it was available then. @@basenjii
2:04 wtf is quint saying lol
"Alright now, light it up!" Wasn't that hard to understand.
@@tjwindsor9638 ik, at first it sounded like “anl lignl”
@@tjwindsor9638 He actually says "Haul in that line or it'll foul us." Pretty easy to understand.
Now the year after this was uploaded, the shark can also be seen during the Alex Kintner attack in the 50th anniversary edition of the film.
2:48 The shark can roar!? 😮😮
The one bad thing about this movie, Peter Benchley said he regretted writing the book because shirts were hunted almost to extinction because of the book and film! Can’t be doing that ! They keep the food chain in order! Besides, your in their domain when you go in the water you agree to take that risk, if not, go to a pool and stay out of the water!!
Try too freeze the shot at 6::22 and you can see that they blew up just the sharks head and that there's no sign of a boat or Brody
Still don't like the changes between a real great white and a phony one anyone could tell the difference I could when I first see it at my local cinema in July 1976
Here brucey!!!
There are scenes on here i don't recall in the movie. Hmmmmm
At 2:08 the shark Looks quint in the eyes !
He’s like “my buddies didn’t get you the last time, I will”
I wonder if Bruce was an orphan
Bruce yawns 2:47
Film loads better than the book
0:33 best shot. Any longer it looks fake af
Also, sharks don’t hunt people! If your on a surfboard or wet suit they think you’re a seal!
i can watch this and not have any effects on my mental life because i already have thalassophobia
Retro Jaws.

How did this movie ever get so popular 😂😂😂
Because it only showed the shark for 7:35 seconds, the rest was suspenseful.
You wouldn't know a great movie if it bit you in the ass!
It's terrible shark
It was also made in 1975 maybe cut them some slack
Are you serious?? This was amazing and still holds up well.
It’s called 1975, give them some freaking slack
Better then today’s sharks
Looks better than what a CGI shark would look like today
Why is this in the wrong aspect ratio?
Probably because the folks at Fear think people have an issue with black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.
First jaws sucks. The sequels are wonderful for more shark scenes
Are you kidding?
