Aye. 35 year old family man here. But I will only be casually leveling while farming gold for the next year as I want to head into TBC with thousands of gold.
NE rogues are good for HC, because their extra lvl on stealth allows you to sneak behind targets more consistenly, and their dodge passive helps to Setup talent (which is now make sense)- up to 45% chance to add combo point after dodging attack. I recommend invest into Remorseless 2/2, then Sub till Prep and Hemo, rest of points goes into Combat
I always level my locks as destro with an imp. It's way more fun for me. Just send in the imp first, run a bit to the side then nuke the mob with shadow bolts / immolate. Just did that on HC all the way to 50. It's hard but on the otherhand it's also very very unrewarding. (Seriously you have nothing against spell pushback, your only form of reliable cc breaks randomly on damage and can't be used in half the locations of the game, you are constantly oom and whenever fighting you are more likely to be better off going bear or cat anyway up to moonkin at 40. Then it gets better but you are in the end still just spam casting for 3 seconds a mediocre damage spell, reapplying dots and have to drink after every other mob, you don't get any extra damage from your spells compared to other druid specs for casting until 35 and the spec specific buff requires you to melee (which due to being oom constantly at least isn't a problem)
If you have to ask that question it probably won't make a difference. It gets relevant when you get to the progression raiding pumpers who minmax the fun out of the game. As long as you aren't playing perfect already it won't make that big of an impact (though obviously forces you into a bit of a different gearing process to get hit capped)
For pve you pick human if you wanna play either war or rog because of the sword skill. If you wanna play gnome you can offset the dps loss a bit by getting edgemasters on a gnome war
