you dont need the bridge anymore
Alvin Jose I just bought one of these, and yes, no need for a bridge any more. I just haven't figured it out how to turn it off at night, it doesn't have a power button
I work in the Magnolia section of Best Buy here in Orlando. Ran a few demos today for customers and 2 of these puppies walked out the door, complete with subwoofer as well. Its an awesome product and definitely recommend it. Definitely recommend it over the Bose Cinemate 1 SR which has about the same price point but lacks the wireless features and music integration capabilities of this device.
Wow night sound is exactly what Ive been looking for! They should start incorporating that in other sound systems
is the base good? or you are gonna need to buy the sub too? because I have the sonos Play:5 which is amazing and it has a good base!
Hey soldier how does this compare to the Bose Solo TV speaker?
I thought you could wirelessly tether those Sonos 3/5 speakers with the Bar? Making it the central hub for your audio system?
Mark quick question i hear in lot of forums that you can only use this in sterio sound due to optical cable. Is it true that you can't have dolby 5.1 in playbar?
You can get Dolby 5.1 surround sound by pairing two Play:1s or Play:3s and a SUB. (5.0 without SUB)
Cut my Direct Sub five months ago and I'm really happy.

I've got the PlayBar, Sub and 2 Play 3s set up for true 5.1 in my family room. Love it. Honestly, the PlayBar doesn't do itself justice until you add the Sub to it. It's almost not even worth adding it without the sub.

Over all, the Playbar really impressed me with his sound quality. The sound coming from this is really amazing for only this thing. The bass quality is amazing, I thought we need to buy an extra subwoofer but we don't need it because the bass on this thing is just really great!

"A little more" strikes me as a serious understatement. A lot of decent (if not spectacular) televisions can be purchased for that same price point. Of course, it is somewhat silly of me to compare this to the price of a tv. I guess I should adjust my perspective to account for the total cost of my home theatre setup, not just individual pieces compared to each other.
is the subwoofer really mandatory ?
+okayplayer iT sounds WAAAAY better when paired with the sub. not mandatory but makes the experience way better

Not really when you consider the other functionality.. how many speakers can u link attach to your wireless network, pair with other speakers and subs from an app on your phone-- or even add speakers and combine rooms all with the push of a button-- combined with top sound quality.. Sure its a bit expensive- but its high end software controlling this stuff....

You can get the pure energy soundbar for 200$ less. And it comes with the wireless sub. Also sounds way better.

You do NOT NEED the bridge, ti's optional. The Bridge is only there for creating a "small network" for your Sonos devices (Playbar, Play 3 etc.). But if you don't buy it there may be a chance of interruption from other devices like your computer, phones etc.

Sonos is great, I am a huge fan of it. It's expensive but the quality is awesome. I use it everyday.

I didn't say that sonos was better. I just said there may be better options other than bose. I own a pair of Thiel stereo speakers, and for headphone I have sennheiser ie8. Both I can say are superior to bose (more expensive but more "quality"). Like I said, bose has it's uses especially in small spaces (bookshelf speakers) or active noise cancelling. but they do not excel in everything.

While I don't believe in sound bars, It is true that audio equipment is a excellent example of "you get what you pay for" (There are overpriced exceptions like beats). My personal speakers costs over $5k (There Thiel) but I consider them well worth the money.
Hipster Soundbar or PS4, PS+ for a year, and 3 games. I'll take the latter. :)
