  • Finally got my hands on a left handed Hoyt! In this video I try and compare the Helix Ultra and the RX-3 Ultra in the #2 and #3 cam. The results were surprising!

      Well if its a standard Rx-3 the 2 cam will only go to 28", so stick with the 3 cam! The RX3 ultra has a different range of draw lengths in the same cam #. The 3 cam in a standard RX3 will go from 27-30", so you'll be close to getting maximum efficiency out of it. Thanks for watching and good shooting to you!

    you’re killing it. lots of reviews out there, echoing each other. getting lots of insight that i haven’t heard from others. would love to know why less expensive bows exhibit more vibration, noise. etc. is this because of geometry? if so, why? cheaper manufacturing processes (e.g. tooling). or because of cheaper materials? if so, what materials are being used (e.g. metal composition)? is all carbon the same? what, precisely, entails “composite carbon?” lastly, are these brands outsourcing things like parts, manufacturing, assembly, etc. if so, who and what?

    • @InsideOutPrecision
      @InsideOutPrecision  5 років тому

      All good questions. The geometry if the cheaper ones don't have so much to do with noise and vibration as the materials and machining process. Most bows under that $500 mark have a cast riser ( aluminum poured into a mold) vs. a billet riser (machined from a solid block of aluminum). For whatever reason, cast risers aren't as stiff as billet risers, so the vibration from the Cam and limbs tends resonate longer after the shot. It's the same concept as a really stiff stabilizer bar vs. a weaker bar. You feel the vibration longer with a weak bar. As far as carbon goes, the only TRUE carbon bows I know being built are Hoyts and PSE'S. Most of the other ones are an injection mold ( carbon mixed with some sort of plastic) and manufactured over seas. The plastic in the mold can hold memory after awhile, resulting a bent riser more or less. There are some decent bows made over seas, but all the "top" brands are manufactured in the US. Hope that helps a little! Thanks for watching

    • @InsideOutPrecision
      @InsideOutPrecision  5 років тому

      Forgot to add that most bows are made of aluminum, but there are different grades of aluminum used. I don't happen to know the number or grade for every brand, but most high-end bows are the stiffest/lightest combination available.

    Hoyts best bow in a long time. Even better than the RX3 and RX1 in my opinion. The ultra is a great bow. Not quite on the level of the Prime Logic CT5, but close 🤪

    What’s up with a lot of people getting the ultra? I know why someone would get the turbo, but what does the ultra have over the other bows other than the axle to axle? I can’t shoot one, because my draw length is shorter. Probably will never be able to shoot one either. I have never looked into the ultra bows just interested to see.

    • @InsideOutPrecision
      @InsideOutPrecision  5 років тому +2

      Longer ATA bows generally aim better and draw smoother, and have a less severe string angle at full draw for people with longer draw lengths so they don't feel like they have to tilt their head forward slightly to get into their anchor point. The also usually have a longer brace height, making them a little more forgiving.

    That RX3 ultra with the number 2 cam is shooting nearly identical speed as my Helix Ultra is. My lefty Helix Ultra is 29.5/70 and shoots a 418 grain arrow at 301-302. Draws great too. Looks like you're struggling a bit shooting that right handed bow 😀

    It feels shorter then your Mathews at 29 because it IS shorter. I love both Mathews and Hoyt but Mathews continues to draw long on almost all their bows. If you measure them both the same way I would be willing to bet the Mathews is almost a 1/2 inches longer draw when set to the same draw length.

    • @InsideOutPrecision
      @InsideOutPrecision  5 років тому +1

      Yeah last year the Hoyts were legitimately a half inch short though. 28.5 measured only 28 to the front of the riser. Don't understand how 28 inches isn't 28 inches no matter the brand haha! Thanks for watching and good shooting to you

    awesome video man, love to see the detail you put into your videos and that you really take the time to give people a thorough understanding/review of bows. Quick question for you, or for anyone who is able/willing to answer: what is the difference between the hoyt helix ultra and the axius ultra? i look at the specs and they seem identical. is there something i am missing? or is the axius ultra pretty much the same bow just a newer?

    • @InsideOutPrecision
      @InsideOutPrecision  4 роки тому +1

      I have a video on the Axious. Basically the cams are the only difference. The Axious had the draw stops built into the module while the helix has a separate draw stop that you match the the position of the cam to.

    • @101Lacrosseplayer
      @101Lacrosseplayer 4 роки тому

    so the questions now for me are can you get that number 2 cam on the regular helix and what that speed difference is going to be, I feel like the regular helix with a number 2 cam would perform more similarly to the rx-3

    • @InsideOutPrecision
      @InsideOutPrecision  5 років тому

      Yeah you can get a 2 cam in the regular rx3 and Helix, but it goes from 26-28" instead of 27-30 like the ultra. Speed difference is the same between a 2&3 though.

    I really liked the feel of the RX3 Ultra when I tested it out. I haven’t had a chance to shoot the Traverse yet and was wondering what you like about the Traverse over the Hoyt Ultra and visa versa? I’m also curious how the string angle at full draw compares between the two? Thanks for sharing man!

    • @InsideOutPrecision
      @InsideOutPrecision  5 років тому +2

      So the Traverse is just plain smoother and more quiet than the Hoyts. They both aim extremely well, and the string angle is nearly identical. Even though the Traverse is an inch shorter, the cams are much larger so the at full draw the string angle feels more like a standard 34 or 35" bow. The Hoyt in the 3 can does draw a little smoother than the Traverse, but the 2 cam was noticably stiffer. I'm not sure if Mathews draw a little long or the Hoyts draw a little short, but they don't feel same even though they were set at the same draw length. Thanks for watching, good shooting to you!
