That’s great you actually have a good tech at your scheels. Last time I took a bow to scheels to have a new rest put on he simply bolted it on and tied the string to the cable serving with a dloop knot and handed it back to me. Didn’t even make sure the rest was timed right. I told him to take it off cause I’m not paying for Walmart service.
I've had 7 Hoyts in the last 15 years. My bow for this season came down to this one and the Vertix. Shot both...loved both. It came down to price and I went with the Vertix. I've never had a carbon bow so if the '19 RX-3's go on sale this fall Im definitely getting one. Props to Sheels and the tech that set you up. Great video!
I've been having a difficult time timing my rx1 and the way the young man explained it was fast , simple and made sense with no long drawn out explanations that only confuse people more. Does the young man tuning the bow have a youtube channel that people can subscribe to because I learned more in the last 17 mins than I have in the last week watching long drawn out examples of how 2s on your bow.
While some bows may outperform others what you just seen is what it's all about knowing all the points of fine tuning that particular bow and knowing the right arrow weight it likes to shoot then match your broadheads to that then it's time to get busy
Man, I'd kill for a bow tech HALF as competent up here. Not a Hoyt fan but not a brand fan boy either....it's all about what fits and works for your tastes. Still, I hope you know how fortunate you are to have someone behind the counter that doesn't just slap stuff together like even the 'pro' shops do around here. I had about enough of it a couple years back and now do all my own work and tuning. Mathews Halon 32 70# shooting a 418 grain arrow at 318fps.
I’m not a brand fan either, far from it actually. I look for quality, looks, and price. I picked up my Junxing M122 for $300 brand new straight from the manufacturer and it shoots better than my Bear Attack I got a couple of years ago. It’s IBO speed is 330 fps and I’m pushing 300 with my set up. I’m extremely, extremely happy with it. It’s laying in my bed with me right now.
What an awesome video. After 5 years of hunting I’m setting my eyes on a new bow purchase. This video gave me some ideas. Keep the camera rolling. Your videos are inspiring to a new guy like me. Stay blessed man.

I have a Hoyt Alpha Max, and love it. I have been shooting socks I was 7 years old. I also shoot traditional bows, shooting instinctive. I have an original Black Widow Recurve, Miami Valley Company Long Bow, waiting for my father to hand me down his Rocky Mountain Take Down Recurve that he can’t shoot anymore, and I am going to buy a new Zipper Take Down Recurve. I like your Hoyt RX 3 Rig. Sweet set -Up. Nice video
I like your setup. Looks great, and make me feel very fortunate that I have a 31” draw length. Way easier to achieve 300+ FPS with 70 lb. draw weight. I shoot 460 grain arrows @ 310 FPS. All day long with no fatigue.
I’ve been shooting 80lbs since I was 14years old, I’m almost 40, still shoot a 75lb vertix. I’d shoot the 80lbs if it was available. I’m gonna have to shoot that Hoyt, sweet rig you got there.
Good thing i watch ur video... i learned it needs a good tech to set up a bow... im a professional Auto Tech and plans to buy either a Hoyt bow or a Ravin26... I think ill buy d cross bow... i guess its easier for me to set it up... very informative video... thanks 👍👍
Maybe i should switch bow shops, never shot through paper when setting my bow up, never told me what my draw length or arrow length is they just had me shoot several times and tuned it till i said it felt good (being new to archery who knows if what feels good is right)
WOW...I'm Shocked. I would think an 80lb draw would be pushing closer to 375 or 380. I've got a Hoyt ProHawk/ Growler Reflex -- 60lb @ 29 inches pushes a 400 grain arrow at 305 fps. Though I wish the tech's in my neck of the woods were half as good as Josh.
I didn't catch it if this was mentioned but is that the number two cam or number 3? I want to do the same thing with a helix and 80lb limbs with a 27.5 draw. Are you shooting fixed blades or mechanical? Ive heard tuning fixed blades can be a nightmare when shooting around 300 fps
#2 cam! And I shoot mechanicals currently, but have gotten fixed blades to tune just fine! Correct spine and getting your cam timing/paper tuning right is huge for broadhead flight forsure
Ive shot the helix at 70lbs with the number 3 cam. Draws smooth but it wants to jump off the back wall at full draw. My only concern with the number 2 cam is that it takes the smoothness out of the draw that i like so much. Thanks for the feedback
Good tip! I pretty well always shoot both eyes open, I might not have been in these shots due to wanting to make sure my peep was aligned in the string
Looks like it draws pretty darn easy for 80#... makes me want to look into switching more. Love my RealmX but man does that aluminum get cold hunting late season.

thanks so much for the video, I am also a 27"! I am torn btwn the 70lb rx-3 turbo and a 80lb rx-3.... any thoughts? #2 cam on both. worried the 80lb will be supper stiff compared to the turbo
If you can try an shoot both and see what you like! But myself personally I dont like the aggressive nature of the turbo cam, 80# limbs give me more forgiveness in the cam. I've always liked high poundage and havent ever had an issue pulling it, but everyone is different!
I brought my bow in to my local archery shop and asked them to put on rest / peep and change strings and tune it afterwards and they asked me what do you mean tune it? ...
Fast bow but it would be even faster if you had a longer draw I shoot a 471 grain arrow with 31 inch draw 70 pounds I'm doing 300fps making 94 pounds kinetic energy
@@WhitetailFit your setup is very impressive for how much I draw 70 pounds with a 31 inch draw your setup is very impressive plenty of Kinect energy for any game animal
Kid setting it up has skill but why do you have an 81.14 draw weight and it only shoots 301? Maybe you should switch bows. My current bowtech assassin is at 60 lbs. and shoots 275 at 70 with a little longer length it can go 330 and my dads bowtech rpm 360 is a 70 lb. draw weight that has the potential to go 80 lbs. and already breaks 300 fps
I have found over time and shooting alot of bows, that ANY bow, that flirts with 300fps at 27" draw and respectable real life hunting arrow weight. Is quite an impressive speed, forsure!!

Are you serious?! They do that for free?!

Great video brother 301 at our draw length is screamin!!!!! That 80lbs definitely doesn't feel like 80 either

that's great speed for the draw weight and the KE is going to be STRONG.
