    Well I shot both these bows at Adam's Archery in Michigan just a few days ago. I made my decision pretty quickly. I thought the Traverse beat the Helix hands down. Biggest difference for me was vibration. The Traverse was completely dead in hand. The Helix had significant vibration. Secondly was the back wall, the Traverse's back wall was rock solid the Helix was just a tad spongey. and thirdly which surprised me the most especially because of what this video said in the comparison was the grip. The traverse's grip was perfect for my hand the Helix grip didn't really let me bury my thumb all the way up in there like the Traverse. I took 8 shots with each bow alternating 1 for 1 on each shot. I walked out of there with the Traverse.

    You give very articulate reviews and I just bought a Mathews Traverse today. The Hoyt Helix Ultra wasn’t in stock at Dead On Archery but I really loved the Traverse. I should see some great service from this bow

      @@brandonsnell6744 IMO, the Reckoning is the wave of the future. It's soooo customizable, so stable, and on the comfort setting it may be 10fps slower than these bows but it has a perfect draw-cycle. As soon as I found out about the Reckoning I put off buying a bow until I could try it. I shot everything with a 33-35" ATA and the Reckoning was, by far, my favorite.

    • @ElkCallingAcademy
      @ElkCallingAcademy  5 років тому +1

      JUST SAMSON both bows tune easily. The Mathews uses Top Hats while the Hoyt is done with Yoke tuning. Each has advantages. The Yoke allows you to be more precise but you to retune whenever you change out your strings. The Top Hats don’t require you to re-tune after replacing strings.

    Great review. I knew they'd be very similar. I think the Helix Ultra is a better buy than the RX3 ultra and the Traverse is the better buy than the Vertix. Both of these bows are top notch. I run the 80 percent mods on my Helix ultra. Where you running them or the 85 percent mods?

    • @leelathrop9539

      Here are some facts as to why people like the Traverse better. The Traverse is a bit easier to draw. It's longer which makes it more forgiving. Also it has more brace height which helps in forgiveness. There's a reason target archers don't use 30 inch bows with short brace heights. Because they aren't as forgiving/accurate.. It's just as quiet and shock free. So tell me how the Vertix is so much better? Or is that just your opinion?

    • @leelathrop9539
      @leelathrop9539 5 років тому

      Well no crap it's faster than the Traverse. It has a shorter brace height and a stiffer draw.

    • @leelathrop9539
      @leelathrop9539 5 років тому

      If you're going through 2 strings a year on a hunting bow you might want to find a new string builder. Yeah I know about long stabilizers. I shoot 5 spot and 3D archery quite often. But I guess you know so much and the Traverse is a POS.

      @Rusty Shackleford sooo, you don't fine tune your bows at distance? 20yd windage is plenty good huh?
      The archer is always a factor but some bows are just more accurate and it will show at distance with a random poll of archers.
      I don't agree with you statement. Please don't take offense.

    I don’t understand how measuring the draw length to the Berger hole on these two different branded bows shows they are set up the same? The Berger hole will not sit in the same place from one manufacture to the next. You need to use the industry standard to measure draw length between any bow and especially between different manufactures. The way to measure draw length is from the back of the grip in the deepest part of the throat to the nocking point at full draw, then add 1.75” to that measurement....I would be curious to see how using the the correct method to measure draw would affect how you set these bows up and the speed comparison.

    • @ElkCallingAcademy
      @ElkCallingAcademy  5 років тому +1

      Gritty Grizzly the idea to measure to the Berger was the idea of someone that actually worked for Hoyt up until two weeks ago and is an avid Hoyt shooter. We went back and looked at the picture and there is only an 1/8 - 3/16 difference between the two bows on the draw length. From now on I am going to put the bows in a Hooter Shooter with the same draw arrow and do the industry standard. With each video I am learning more and more about how to make these videos better. As always, I appreciate the input.
